  1. What I am saying is that the Bills are not using their money to put good players on the field. They didn't get anyone of consequence in free agency, they let a pro-bowl player walk and now we are talking about letting another one walk. What are their plans for spending their cash? Are they waiting for a rainy day? Well it's raining and has been for some time.
  2. So don't go after free agents so that you can save money to resign your own players. Then let Levitre walk so that you have money for other "key" positions. Then Byrd walks so that you can resign Wood and Spiller. What happens when Wood and Spiller walk? What will they use the money on then? A new yacht?
  3. I surprised at how many posters think it's perfectly fine for one of the team leaders and THE leader of the defensive secondary to miss all of the OTAs and minicamp when the team has a new coaching staff and a new fairly complex defense in order to help his negotiating position. I'm concerned that Byrd is going to have a slow start to the season and poor chemistry with his teammates. And if he misses training camp too then I'd add injuries to my list of concerns.
  4. So far it seems that the posters with an irrational hatred for Tim Tebow are winning out over the ones who have their heads up Bill Belichick's behind. Interesting, I thought it would've been closer. I suspect that the desire for the Patriots to bomb is skewing the results.
  5. There's no way that Kolb separated himself enough from Jackson to warrant his outright release even before mini-camp based on merit. His release was obviously a foregone conclusion once they signed Kolb and drafted Manuel, assuming that Kolb didn't totally bomb during OTAs. I wouldn't call that a fair chance. Incidentally, is it any less a foregone conclusion that Manuel will become the starter this season? Kolb is basically auditioning for his next team or possibly a backup role if he can outperform Tuel.
  6. Well so much for the people predicting that Jackson would win the QB competition with Kolb. They did? I think that's debatable.
  7. This should be a very interesting response from TBD. It's the "Belichick is a genius and can do no wrong" group versus the "Tebow is the worst QB in history and is only famous because of his religion" group. It'll be fun to see which group has the last I told you so. At least the latter group can stop with the "If Tebow is so good then why will no one else in the NFL sign him?" rhetoric.
  8. Carrington is a strong interior pass rusher but has been weak vs the run. He has a role that he is good at but I don't think I'd crown a situational player as some kind of star.
  9. I thought Gailey's over commitment to Fitzpatrick stifled his offense, but he and Nix knew how to find decent offensive linemen and run a linemen friendly system. Spiller had some good holes last season. Personally, I'd be surprised and encouraged if the Bills OL and Spiller played as well this season as last.
  10. You've got to be a little concerned about the OL. Lots of ominous signs.
  11. I know that if Byrd signs his offer sheet and comes in the Bills can franchise him again next season with a 10% raise, but what happens if he doesn't sign the offer sheet?
  12. This thread is really sad. Are there really so many self-centered and inconsiderate people on this board? TBD is far from a brotherhood of Bills fans. It's more like a meat grinder of cynics that attack and disparage at any opportunity. I wonder if you could actually start anything as a thread and not have disparaging or cynical comments show up as part of it.
  13. ... and the sour grapes begin...
  14. And for anti-religious nuts looking for an excuse to bash the other side.
  15. Can you answer the poster's question or not? What is your reason for questioning his character? Do you have any evidence of anything he did that shows poor character? Or is it simply because of his religion?
  16. Here's a rule change that I would like to see: no more half the distance penalties. If you are at the 15 and you get a holding penalty, then you go back to the five. If the total yardage would put you in the end zone then you go back to the one. I really don't get the logic for half the distance.
  17. And besides that Sanchez was the main reason the Jets lost as he couldn't complete a pass over 5 yards in that game.
  18. Dick Jauron is back. So let me see if I got this straight: Wannstedt's defense was very simple and that's bad because it was too predictable and not sophisticated enough for the NFL. The Bills are in much better shape with Pettine and his new complex defense. Hackett's offense is very simple and that's good because you don't need a complex offense to be effective you only need to have good players and run the plays well. That sounds like what Wanny had told us. I'll buy this. The complexity is going to ramp up as Manuel starts to learn things.
  19. Interesting. Maybe it was all a plot by the man to curtail my drinking.
  20. I regularly attended games when I lived in the Buffalo area but I couldn't imagine taking my young son to a Bills game the way I could to a local Panthers game. The atmosphere is just completely different. You could argue that the fans aren't as rabid so the "home field advantage" isn't as big but here you can actually go and enjoy the game without really worrying about incidents or crazy drunken behavior. It was pretty mellow when I went to see the Bills in Arizona a couple years back as well. I don't know about all the other stadiums but I haven't been to anyplace like The Ralph yet.
  21. Even I knew this and I'm certainly no doctor. Gronk definitely knew this as he would've been told by his doctors even if he didn't know it already.
  22. I'm really going to miss Nix. I thought that he was very open and honest with his thought process and opinions about the decisions he made. It was really enjoyable to hear his interviews and you could clearly see his philosophy. His legacy will squarely depend on Manuel but in general I think he's done a pretty good job. I hope he enjoys his retirement and I hope that Whaley will be as open to the media and the fans.
  23. You are correct. He hasn't been mentioned in any of the reports I've read and I've taken that to mean that he isn't doing much but it could just be reporters focusing elsewhere, or maybe he isn't even there.
  24. In 7 on 7, with UDFA defensive backs covering him, he probably should be making more plays than he is. Still, the receiving dynamic will change when the contact starts and his future this season probably rests on his special teams ability anyway.
  25. Makes sense to me. Apparently Dickerson is planning on playing WR. I don't think they are going to use a traditional FB so maybe you can keep him where you have him and he'll be some type of H-back. We'll have to see. Also, Brown has looked better than Snow to me so I would project him as the starter although he would be a more valuable backup since he can backup all three interior line positions where as Snow can only play guard. I think it's a toss up between Hairston and Pears at RT. When healthy Pears was better but who knows if he's healthy. Finally, I suspect that they are going to bring Manuel along a little more slowly and start Kolb or Jackson for week 1 unless Manuel really outshines both of them in camp. However there's no question that Manuel will be the starter before the season is over IMO. I do agree that it's likely that they keep Tuel and cut either Kolb or Jackson.
