Bills to let David Nelson walk?
vincec replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe Marrone just doesn't think he is very good, wants to move on and wants to give him the opportunity to look for work elsewhere. Nelson is not even a #3 on a team with a real group of WRs. -

I wouldn't be to sure about that. This is looking like a very strong draft for WRs. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them take one early. -

So both on the team three years. Jones, 82 for 882 and 6 TDs. Nelson 94 for 1042 and 8 TDs. Wow, that's a real upgrade there. I guess you're right. 12 receptions for 160 over three years- 4 receptions and 53 yards per season. ... anyway... -

This is true. I just think you are overestimating how productive Nelson has been. He hasn't been any more productive than Donald Jones and no one was crying when he was shown the door. -

Just so I am clear. Your argument is that the Bills suck at personnel evaluation, therefore releasing Nelson is a bad move. What if they kept Nelson? That would've been bad too right? The Bills suck at personnel evaluation so every move they make is poor. Correct? -

Milloy, Williams, Fletcher, Winfield, Clements and Greer were all pro-bowlers. Nelson too? What about Evans, Owens, Parrish, J Reed, Hangartner, Incognito, J Scott and Florence? All starters that were released and went on to start for other teams over the past 4 years. No consideration for them? Is Nelson more like them or the first group? Every personnel move that the Bills make is not wrong, although that seems to be the default position of most posters. -

Who cares what they make? Are you getting a cut or something? The Bills are under the cap. Nelson produces the same or less, therefore he is equivalent. Kelsay is not that good either but he is just the latest whipping boy like Peters, Bell, Whitner and Posluszny before him. Of course, haven't you been reading? In the hands of Tom Brady Nelson will be the next Randy Moss. The Bills are doomed. -

What history? Despite a few exceptions, the vast majority of players that the Bills let go really do suck. It's people like YOU that are always whining about every personnel decision the Bills make. It get's old. -

The fact is that Kelsay has been MORE productive than Nelson over the course of his career. Nelson is not even a starting caliber WR on a team with very weak WRs. He is a role player, just like Kelsay. Honestly, all the crying about Nelson is a joke. I think that people on this board have been watching mediocrity for too long to see it for what it is. -

If they're wrong every single time then if they had decided to keep him that would've been wrong too, right? A tough spot to be in when every personnel move you make is wrong. -
Who would've thought that the cutting of a #3 WR would rock the Bills nation to it's core.

James Hardy had that skill too. -

It surprises me how players like Nelson and Kelsay, with comparable ability at their respective positions, can elicit completely different reactions from this board. They are both average players. One is a pariah whose head is constantly being called for and the other is one that everyone is lamenting. -
Astro's 2013 Not Too Early Bills Mock
vincec replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it's a good mock but as you can see from the responses the pressure to waste a high pick on a QB in the worst QB draft class in recent memory will be very high. Given the Bills history of drafting failure I suspect that they will yield to the pressure and blow one of their picks. I just hope it's not the #1. -
Jets definitely aren't handling this well. I think that it's logical to try and trade Revis but why not sit down with him and discuss the issue instead of leaving him in the dark? Revis may not like it but he deserves to be told to his face that the Jets are going to trade him if they get a decent offer.

This is apparently the law: http://www.new-york-...ey-1580412.html "Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree – NY PL 265.03(3) A person is guilty of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree pursuant to New York Penal Law 265.03(3) when that person possesses a loaded firearm (pistol, revolver, handgun, etc.) outside his or her home or place of business without a permit regardless of what the intent was. If that was not clear enough, if you possess your duly licensed pistol from Maine, Texas or New Jersey in New York without a license in this state and it is loaded, you are going to be charged with this offense. What makes matters worse is that under the laws of New York, "loaded" does not mean a clip in the gun or a bullet in the cylinder. If the firearm is capable of being loaded and the bullets are in the case with the gun or even in your pocket, you can still potentially be charged with this offense. Unfortunately, ignorance of the law in New York is no defense. Whether you are properly checking the firearm at LaGuardia or JFK Airports in Queens or have it anywhere else in New York, possessing that firearm will land you in state prison without an assertive and compelling defense." Bold emphasis is mine.

It's interesting because it appears that the gun was not discovered by security but that he voluntarily turned it over at the check-in counter. However the Queens County DA said that the charge would've been the same if security had discovered the gun. Really? If someone has a concealed carry permit (assuming he does), takes a gun into an airport and asks how to transport it at the check-in counter he is in the same category as someone who tries to sneak a loaded gun by security? That doesn't seem right. http://www.tampabay.com/sports/football/bucs/bucs-daquan-bowers-arrested-at-airport-on-gun-charge/1275692

The 53 Year Anniversary Bills Wall of Shame Awards
vincec replied to Meathead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The one thing that gives me some doubt is that Johnson took over very week teams and bombed with them. Before he took over in 1968 the team won 3 games (he then won 1 in 1968) and they won 3 in 1970 (he then won 1). In fact from 1967 to 1972 the Bills had a combined record of 17-64-4 and never won more than 4 games in a season. 1972 brought Lou Saban to turn things around. Johnson basically had nothing to work with. Consider that Kay Stephenson took over a playoff caliber team from Chuck Knox that still had most of the players that made the playoffs in 1981 (10-6) and were just under .500 in the strike shortened 1982 season (4-5). He then proceeded do steer the franchise into another ice age by first going 8-8 in 1983 and then 2-14 in 1984 and 0-4 in 1985 before he was fired and Hank Bullough finished the job. He was the transitional figure between the Knox era and several years of darkness with him and Bullough before Levy was hired. -
That's one reason that their OL stinks.

Who's the coach? I nominate Kay Stephenson. -
I thought Brooks was being groomed for that position? Rogers and McKelvin (if he stays) are really dime CBs at best. McGee is gone. If the Bills move Williams to safety then they need to draft another CB, and probably high. I think that in the big picture it might make more sense to leave Williams at CB for another season to see if he can improve and spend this season trying to improve the LBs.
