  1. OK, maybe not the absolute worst in NFL history but they are sitting at #5 in a supposedly historic QB class and their QB is Case Keenum. Not only do they not draft Josh Allen but they turn down a trade with the Bills because they absolutely, positively have to have Bradley Chubb at #5. They churn through Keenum, Paxton Lynch and Drew Lock and decide they are a QB away from the Super Bowl and give the farm away for what looks like a washed Russell Wilson. The cherry on top is now trading Chubb for a #1. What a frickin' disaster.
  2. This is a nice coup for the Bank of America investment banking group. Usually, this would go to Goldman or JP Morgan.
  3. It would be nice, I don't know, give it to a running back and have the running back rush it into the endzone. It would certainly throw the opposing team for a loop.
  4. There's a time and place for everything. For example, after the Cook catch and then the Cook run, we had a second and goal from the three yard line with a little over ten minutes left in the game and a 27 - 10 lead. I'm sorry but the call there should have been to run on second down. If you don't get in, run on third down and if you still aren't in, either kick the field goal or go for it on fourth down. You are either up 34 - 10, 30 - 10 or 27 - 10 and GB has the ball around the one yard line with about 8 minutes left. I'd really like to see if this team is capable of bull rushing the ball into the end zone from inside the five.
  5. OK, problem solved. Didn't know time out was called in Colts game and that it is ok to take helmet off during time out. Much appreciated explanation. Call against Moore was still ticky tack as my understanding of the rule is that once you are off field of play, it's ok to take helmet off. Moore didn't remove helmet until he was off field of play.
  6. So how many seconds do you have to wait before you can take your helmet off in the field of play?
  7. Moore started to take his helmet off just as he was exiting boundary of end zone and it didn't come off until he was clearly outside the boundary of the end zone. Result? 15 yard penalty that may have cost Panthers the game. McLaurin makes great catch near the end of the game against Indy, takes his helmet off in the middle of the field after the play. Result? Nothing. Washington wins the game on one yard plunge. Is there a rationale for all of this or is it just ad hoc sometimes I'll enforce the rules and sometimes I won't? Also, not much was discussed about this but how could a 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct NOT be called on Douglas after the Diggs touchdown. After the play was over he picked up Diggs and threw him to the ground. It didn't impact game and Bills had plenty of calls go their way but come on, try to be consistent!!
  8. I have no idea whether Singletary will be resigned after this year. I do know that there are an unbelievable number of very good running backs who will be on the market next year which will (1) depress the RB market and potentially make resigning Singletary economically feasible and (2) if we don't resign him, we should be able to sign a good back on the cheap to pair with Cook.
  9. I didn't suggest that this would be a WINNING strategy. It's almost the ONLY strategy the Jets can employ to stay in the game. My real question is whether we put a third LB on the field from the get-go to counter any heavy O the Jets put on the field. From experience, it just doesn't seem like the Bills like to do that, especially if it takes Taron Johnson off the field.
  10. He opened with a very good game against LA, missed Tenn with ankle injury, shouldn't have played against Mia and Balt because he was obviously not close to 100%, came back with monster game against Pitt and very good game against KC. Admittedly, he had a poor game last night but there's no way they are going to attempt to pick someone up to replace Davis as starter (including OBJ coming off ACL tear). Not going to happen.
  11. I haven't watched the Jets much this year but I did watch yesterday's game against the Pats. No way do they put the game in Wilson's hands. I think he will be on a very tight leash. I know that Hall and their best O Lineman are out but I can certainly see them running all sorts of heavy, two tight end sets, try to grind the clock, rely on their defense to keep it close, etc. My question is whether we stay 4-2-5 if they go heavy. After our game yesterday, I assume the answer is yes. Not sure it's a great answer.
  12. Davis wasn't the reason we lost last night. Oh, wait a minute, we actually won by 10 points. In all seriousness, he had a rough game, couple of drops, stupid penalty. He's a very good #2. Remember, he was hurt and basically gutted through a couple of games. He also comes up big in big games. We don't need receivers. Maybe some backup help on the OL and safety depending on how serious Poyer's injury is.
  13. The Chiefs easily could have (should have?) already lost to both the Chargers and the Raiders at home this season. I don't think any of their remaining divisional games will be walkovers. After watching Jets - Pats yesterday, I'd rather play Wilson, Jones and Tua than Herbert, Carr and Wilson.
  14. Bennett is kind of the "forgotten Bill" from the great teams of the late 80's and early 90's. Great player, borderline HOF. Still amazing that a team with Bruce Smith, Kelly, Thomas, Reed, Bennett, et al. didn't win a Super Bowl.
  15. Why did the Bills cut Azaria loose before the allegations were proven true? The question answers itself.
  16. They're terrible. I think the Bears are much better off with designed runs for him.
  17. Looked at his Super Bowl stats. Not only did he win the majority of his SB's after age 37 (which in and of itself is insane) but his stats while he was in his "prime" were pretty pedestrian. After 37? Pretty awesome. If he's clean, it's the biggest anomaly in sport history.
  18. It's Wide Right. It's the Music City Miracle. It's 13 Seconds. Toss in the Harmon Drop, "Just Give It To Them", the Hail Murray and a few others. Sprinkle in a little Sabres history too (No Goal). If there was a Super Bowl win mixed in with the rest, it wouldn't be nearly as bad, but there isn't so we feel especially snake bitten. Let me add a comment on thirteen seconds. I thought we had the game won but only for a millisecond. Butker has a big leg and I was immediately worried about a very long distance FG (60 plus yards). He hit from 62 against us last week so that was a legitimate concern. OK, we screw up the kickoff and no time burned and they are starting from their 25. To get to makeable FG range (less than 65 yards) they need to go from the 25 to somewhere around our 45. Thirty yards in 13 seconds with all their timeouts. As said in Godfather Part II about assassinating Hyman Roth, "Difficult, not impossible." It was absolutely ludicrous to play a prevent defense with your safeties 30 yards off the line of scrimmage unless you are playing for a tie. Hell, even if we went for two at the end and converted, KC would have had a legitimate shot at the end zone with the last play of the game. I do believe, however, that this year will be different. I can't believe they will ever take their foot off the pedal.
  19. I'm old enough to actually remember when Pete Gogolak kicked for the Bills. I currently live in St. Petersburg FL so there's the name. The picture is from the 1965 Topps AFL series, which is a pretty sweet set. It has Joe Namath's rookie card and a nice set of old time Bills (Kemp, Sestak, etc.) on a pink background of all colors.
  20. I didn't mean to imply that just because he CAN still play that he MUST play. Didn't realize he retired. Good for him. Wouldn't begrudge any NFL player a dime of their salary or making a decision to quit when still healthy or if they simply decided that they had had enough and didn't enjoy playing the game anymore. Still would like a little more depth on the interior OL however.
  21. The reason I like Daryl Williams is that he ended the seemingly never-ending nightmare of Jordan Mills being our starting RT. Granted he was not great last year and fully expected him to be a cap casualty but I'm surprised he is still on the market. For the right price, I think he would be a nice fit as backup guard/tackle, especially with Spencer Brown missing some time. What's the deal? Is he out of shape? No longer interested in playing football? There's got to be a reason he is unsigned.
  22. Honestly, assuming we don't go after any "big" names (I assume we won't), I'd like to see some help on the interior OL. Not a starter, just someone who can back up inside and maybe flip outside if needed. Someone better than Bobby Hart.
  23. The guards have already gone up against Donald, Simmons, Campbell, Heywood and Jones and survived. Is Williams better than Donald? They'll be all right.
  24. Forget CMC. Do the Panthers have any decent interior linemen on the block? How overweight is Daryl Williams at this point and how quickly can he get back into football shape?
