  1. What do you mean "if"?
  2. I'm embarrassed to ask but I searched the site and couldn't find the answer - How are the titles under people's screen names determined (such as UDFA, Probation, etc.) and what do the number of Bills logo's signify? And how can people have 15,000+ posts in say ten years? That's like five posts a day every day of the year...sign me just curious....
  3. Good points CB - the mid 80's were much worse than this and the late sixty's/early 70's weren't so hot either (except for OJ)....If you were a fan in the mid 80's post Chuck Knox, you would have been thrilled with five wins: 84: 2-14 85: 2-14 86: 4-12 (sure 100% improvement in wins but still nothing) For God's sake the team only won 13 games total from 1967 to 1972....so no, these last few years aren't the worst by my estimation in a long time....though I can certainly understand that if you became a fan during the "glory years" you'd be feeling the way you do now....
  4. I don't see another win this season....
  5. Geez - 13 on IR and at least 8 starters....any idea what the club record is for most players on IR? I seem to recall two seasons ago the Bills had 12 on IR...
  6. I've lost track - how many Bills on IR now? I know it was three this week...
  7. It was written by a 20 something who's getting a Masters in Fine Art - in Indiana of all places! It was probably a class assignment and she had to puff it up a bit... Me? I love my accent...I can still hear my mom saying "aaaabsooooluuuutely....."
  8. Wouldn't you know it looks like Miami got out of their funk today....Bills picked a bad week to lay an egg....
  9. My friends and I won a sign contest in '76 (got our pictures in the BEN on the what I think they used to call the Picture Page or something like that) - we brought enough signs to line the entire railing section up in the oranges. We got two season tickets for the next season split between four kids. When the Braves left Buffalo I left watching the NBA....I hear they're on strike now....does anyone care? I hope they stay out the entire year - more hockey to watch...
  10. This is exactly the kind of game we haven't had in years. If you would have told me in August that we'd have a meaningful game in November I would have laughed....so that's really exciting. Now, this is exactly the kind of game that any of the last 10 Bills teams would lay a major egg. If they don't lay an eff Sunday then the rest of the season can be pretty fun. I don't think it's the defining game of the season because I can't predict the future - the future may hold a game where in the Bills have to win to make the playoffs - that would be a defining game IMO.
  11. I wore no Bills stuff the entire week and had good "position" on my recliner....I thought I had blown it when I got up to get a beer (Fitz fumbled next play) but I must have found that same position when I sat back down....my wife thinks I'm nuts....but you guys don't, do you?
  12. I saw that too but also heard the game was an "official" sell out - so that means they sold 80,000+ tickets but only 68,000 showed up? That seems odd, and the weather was pretty good if I recall...
  13. Or maybe we're just savant's when it comes to Haiku - oh and I appreciate that someone took the time to point out the syllabic meter of a haiku....and yes, I was educated in the Williamsville District School System....:>)
  14. The birds desperate The Bills overmatched this time three and two not bad
  15. But the absolute number one reason I'd like to see the Bills (or the Sabers) win a Super Bowl (or Stanley Cup) is for the absolute joy it would bring to people in WNY. I can't think of any other area of the country, except maybe Cleveland, that a championship would mean more....and unfortunately I think the Eagle's will win Sunday, probably by 7-10 points....
  16. I think the Eagle's in a spot where this really is a season making/breaking game for them - but not for the Bills. I would expect that the Eagle's will play like a cornered animal and that could make for a long afternoon. I hope I'm wrong.
  17. If you take out 63-66 and 88-93 it's mostly been pretty sucky. Sure we had the odd year like 74 and 80 but really, that's about it. But that doesn't matter. People follow the Bills mostly because they're from WNY (like me) or jumped on the band wagon during the Super Bowl years. You don't see bunches of Bills fans walking around other cities like you do Cowboy or Steeler fans - those teams attract fans from outside their home base. The great news is that being a Bills fan is being a true fan of some professional sports team because as a Bills fan, no matter how much we all complain about ownership, management, trades, lack of trades, what ever - hope springs eternal around the last week of July and we get a thrill like this early season every ten years or so. I haven't lived in WNY since the late 70's so this may not be true anymore but I recall that after a loss my dad was in a pretty foul mood on Mondays and Tuesdays....it's probably the same today. I'm as big a complainer about the Bills as anyone but come fall I'm right there following them like most of you - win or lose....But God I'd love to just once be able to shut up my friends who are Steelers, Cowboys, Patriots, etc. fans!
  18. Yeah, the Bills let a W they should have had get away, but really, who thought we'd be the Pat's? This loss may actually be the "reality check" the team needs to realize they can't just show up to win. As for the Eagle's, they're going to be absolutely about as desperate as a team can get and would expect them to come out guns a blazing. I don't care how bad their defense is - if the Bills win it will be a well earned win....
  19. Bearded One Strikes Hard Chilli On Spaghetti Bad Joyous Times Roll On
  20. 1988 - that's exactly what I was thinking...no expectations, a veteran back and a rookie who turned things on (okay - I know Spiller's not a rookie, but close enough), and most importantly no quit in them....My dad passed away in 2004 and I couldn't help thinking that the last time the Bills beat the Pat's he was still around....I know he enjoyed this one....

  22. Can you make any money being a "Ravens Blogger"?
  23. Born and raised in Williamsville, near Audabon Golf Course (if it's still there)....left after HS in '78 - father had been transferred to NC and so followed for college. Lifer as far as the Bills go....like the Braves and the NBA, if the Bills leave WNY then the NFL will be dead to me....before children (19 yrs. ago) I'd make it up to the Ralph a couple of times a year but after kids my wife (from Philadelphia and an Iggle's fan) sort of put the ki-bosh on those trips....now live in Richmond, VA and listen to all the games on Sirius radio so I can get the Bills broadcast with all the local color and commercials ("Celino and Barnes....." - catchy tune). Great thread BTW....have really enjoyed reading through it.
  24. When I was a freshman in HS in '74 OJ lived across from one of my best friends in East Amherst. We were outside playing football in the street and OJ came out with his USC letter jacket on (this was the fall) taking his garbage out to the street. I was closest to him and had the ball and he put the cans down and motioned to me to throw it to him which I did. He then threw it back. That was pretty cool. Then he killed some people in California, alledgedly.
  25. So what's he do once he blows the $15Mil? Airport baggage guy?
