A Few Thoughts from Harrisionberg Va.
chaccof replied to twist-to-open's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it's Harrisonburg, isn't it? And the weather is cold and clear - snowed last week... -
I couldn't agree with you more....although I'm beginning to warm up to hating Rex Ryan too....
-
Is there hope? Sure! Jim Ritcher proved it.
chaccof replied to Jim Gehman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was fortunate enough to be at NC State for Ritcher's last year and of course was thrilled when the Bills picked him up. I think he's a commercial pilot now based out of the Raleigh, NC area....there may be something to not getting too down on the young guys their first or second year on the team... -
I'm having a brain fart - who wore the 55 you're talking about?
-
What good will the #1 pick do us? With the exception of Bruce Smith we've had a pretty disasterous history with #1 picks (Can anyone say Walt Patulski?)....

It will be years before this team is competitive
chaccof replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With all due respect, what good is a decent QB going to do the Bills if he spends more than half the game on his _ss....they need to start getting the O-line in shape and fast. -

Green Bay Packers vs Buffalo Bills prediction?
chaccof replied to Another Point of View's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Green Bay - 28 Bills - 16 Offense will improve marginally but most of the points will come from Lindel....again, the O proves that they cannot operate on a short field. -
Is Virginia Tech on the schedule this year? How about UB? Naw, probably couldn't beat them either....
-
Sorry, couldn't find it.....Assume it has something to do with President McKinnley getting assassinated in Buffalo? Can't be that....how would we then explain Dallas and Washington being successful?
-
Long time no post for me. Was at the game last night and the guy sitting next to me asked me why the Bills have been so injury prone the last three or four years. I really didn't have a good reason and am wondering what this august group thinks? Could it be as simple as poor conditioning? Do the players we've selected the last few years have a history of injuries from their college days (I didn't take the time to do the research)? Have the coaches been asking more of what the players are capable of? Or is it just bad luck?

Quest for 31 Complete - My Thanks to Bills Fans
chaccof replied to Questfor31's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is a "beyond cool" experience. Congratulations. I've been fortunate enough to see the Bills play in Philly, NY, Tampa, Washington, Baltimore and Pittsburgh but always attended routing for the Bills. The idea of going as the home team is pretty neat - plus protects you against the idiots out there (like you mentioned the Oakland fans appear to be....). I found the fans in Philly to be pretty tough on an opposing team's fan.... -
If Cowher comes to Buffalo it won't be to coach the Bills - maybe to get some wings or weck, but he's too smart to come here to coach, no matter how much money RW might throw at him (which we all know won't happen either)....

According to an article in todays Charlotte Observer the owner decided to retain Fox but not extend his contract because he (the owner) is unsure whether or not there will be a 2011 season because of the potential lock out. He's hedging his bet that if there is no season he want have a coach to pay....and if there is a season he can hire Fox back or any one else available.

In a case like this where the player will have surgery not in his home city is it expected/typically that the injured player's team orthopedic surgeon would assist/be part of the surgical team? Or would the Bill's team orthopedic surgeon just help the team find the best available dr. in that particular town? Anybody know how that works?

Thank God Tim Russert didn't live to see this season....

Which four games, exactly, do you think the Bills can win? Maybe the Texan's and maybe, but not likely, Indy if they don't play their starters and back ups.... Anybody remember 1985? Yikes.....
-
I agree and am putting my faith in hoping that DJ is taking a page from Marv Levy's pre-season philosophy of not showing too much, very bland game plans, limited work for the starters (which resulted in very few PS wins during the glory years).....I'm just not sure DJ is that smart.....

OFFICIAL GAME THREAD: BILLS VS STEELERS 8/29/2009
chaccof replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, the only hopeful news is that during the glory years of the super bowl teams they only won something like four pre-season games in four years.....of course those teams did at least put some offensive points on the board besides FG's.......unfortunately I stand by my 5-11 prediction. The real question is when will RW can DJ and who will replace him? I say week 6 but no idea who will replace him.... -

I left in 1979 after HS so my memory isn't so good. In no particular order: 1. Our Saber's season tickets 2. Going to Bills games 3. Teds Red Hots 4. Anderson's Lemon Ice (my Aunt lived right around for the one near the corner of Sheridan and Brighton - at least I think that's where it was) 5. The Library (which was a bar on the second story of a building near a Mighty Taco but can't remember the street). We were able to sneak in there before we were 18) 6. My cousins in Fredonia and Brocton (rest of the family has moved or passed on) 7. The reasonably cool and sunny summers I do not miss the winters. AFter being down south for the last 19 years I can take the heat, I can't stand the snow. I'm able to get Webber's and Genny Cream Ale here in VA (either through friends who go back to WNY or trips to visit the wife's family in DC. What a neat thread.

Have friends traveling to WNY next week and they want to try "the best beef on weck" in the area. I told them Schwable's but it's been a long time since I've had BOW in WNY....is it still the best?
