Damn, I hate this thread so much. Hyde has been either the 2nd or 3rd (Diggs is in there) most important player in turning this franchise around from its poverty drought phase to its SB contender phase. How valuable is he, really? He’s tremendously valuable and if his replacements do a good job then credit to him on that, too. Completely separate question about resigning him or letting him walk. That’s a valid question when the time comes. But the very title of this thread is insulting.

Scored a TD on every drive of a playoff game against an opponent that ate our lunch for the two decades prior. That was an instant classic.

Let's see...would we rather have our 2nd team All Pro safety next year or a 6th round pick? Good job asking the tough questions OP. Edit: I've just read your reply about group think fan bias. That definitely happens but this isn't it. I guarantee you that every member of the Bills organization would find this thread as laughable as we do, and it's their job to go over every roster scenario.

MNF: Chicago Bears at NE Patriots - with Manningcast!
SageAgainstTheMachine replied to Beck Water's topic in The Stadium Wall
This week’s anomaly aside the Panthers are the worst team. Chicago isn’t that far behind though. -
Breece Hall possible blown ACL
SageAgainstTheMachine replied to RunTheBall's topic in The Stadium Wall
Really sucks. Michael Carter isn’t bad but he’s nowhere close to Breece. I think they’ll go into a tailspin relying on Wilson to move the ball. -
My last name is Sage and at the time I created the account I loved RATM. Now I’m tepid but nostalgic about them.

Motor on what is special about Josh as a teammate

Suddenly I understand Moss’ role. Even the fastest car needs brakes. -
To quote Herb Brooks from Miracle, it's not about having all the best players, it's about having the right ones. Yeah, you need at least a couple superstars who can take over games. We have Allen, Diggs and Von. Milano is starting to look like that too. But that aside, you don't just compile a whole roster of pro bowlers and expect it to gel (or be able to afford it, obviously). Frankly I'm glad we don't have CMC. When you have a player like that you want to give him the ball 20-25 times a game. We don't need that. This is Josh's offense.

Jets WR Elijah Moore requests trade

It's a pretty bad look when you're a young player on a surprisingly good team and your response is wanting out because you personally aren't contributing much yet. Real competitors want to prove it on the winning team they're on, not jump ship to where they can get more snaps and looks. -
I've been through a separation. It wasn't even acrimonious but easily was the worst year of my life. There's not a chance that all of his mind is on football and if the Bucs end up swan-diving in the standings it wouldn't shock me if he retires midseason.

After the dust up in the 2020 AFCCG I was thinking that Bills/Chiefs was bound to become a rivalry with genuine animosity to it but that hasn’t happened because I think in their souls both Allen and Mahomes are adolescent golden retrievers. They also happen to be the two best QBs on the planet so yeah we’re in for years of this.

9th one of his career. -
Week 8: SNF Packers at Bills (-10.5) 10/30 8:20pm
SageAgainstTheMachine replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
For as much as I hear about a team being pissed off and dangerous following an embarrassing loss I wonder if there's any statistical evidence that this is a factor. If anything I would guess that demoralizing losses just lead to more losing. -
Titans/City Agree on New DOMED Stadium
SageAgainstTheMachine replied to Protocal69's topic in The Stadium Wall
I haven't read any of the replies on this but I'm wondering if when the Bills new stadium is built if maybe that would be a domed stadium too? -
Most people thought Wentz was on track to do what Josh is doing now back in 2017. Five years later and he's the guy you get when you want to look like you aren't tanking but you are.

Bills release LB Andre Smith
SageAgainstTheMachine replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Genuinely forgot that he existed. -
I really dislike this either/or type of thinking. Allen is a generational QB and would be without Daboll, McD, Dorsey or Beane. But he's also extremely fortunate in the sense of competing in the playoffs so soon and often to have landed in a situation with such stability. Most rookie QBs go to bad teams that end up shuffling OCs, HCs and GMs until the franchise that drafted them isn't even the same franchise (Ship of Theseus, what what).

I was thinking today about how normal that last drive seemed but how spectacularly abnormal it really was. First off, you have the pressure that if you don't score a TD the game is more or less over. Give the ball back on downs or a turnover, you either go down an insurmountable two scores or you never see the ball again. Drive and kick a field goal, Mahomes likely marches down and Butker ends it. So the stakes are HIGH. Well in that last drive we saw Josh... 1) Power forward for a QB sneak on 4th and 1 2) Deliver a 20 yard seed to Diggs in traffic 3) Rush for 16 yards, cleanly hurdling a defender for an extra 10. 4) Hit a well covered Knox on the sideline for a TD on a pass that also fit right over the fingertips of a safety. Like, go back and watch highlights of former Bills QBs like Trent and Tyrod (if you can stomach it). They'd go entire games without putting together anything close to that, much less on a do or die drive. And right now for Josh it's just natural. I would have been surprised if we didn't score.
