This is where I am at. I like that we picked up another guy with speed...but we dont use the guys we have properly, and 2 of them have 4.35 or faster speed. As someone who was a Brady supporter coming into the season he has completely lost me. Much like how Daboll eventually lost me too when he was here after being on his wagon early on. What difference makers got traded for pennies? No difference makers got traded at the deadline.

People thought our schedule was going to be brutal this year at this stage last season. Then we found out its pretty cake - except we are blowing it as its us that is playing like dog 💩 and taking losses in games we should clearly win. So it is really hard to see if the schedule is hard or not hard this far out. So I don't waste too much time thinking about it. No one on that schedule scares me if we are playing good football. What scares me is we are not playing good football.

Here is where I am at: Consider me "Blake" (Alec Baldwin) in the movie Glengarry Glen Ross - every one is fired in my mind as of now and they have one shot to win their jobs back and that is find a way to win the Super Bowl this year. (Link Below to one of the best openings in movie history and one of the best on screen speeches in movie history if you are not familiar with it). Rams won the SB when they were not really the best team in the NFL. Any team can get hot in the post season, have some things go their way, and get the job done. McD and Beane have done some great things for this franchise, and I still think McD is a good football coach and Beane is still a good GM. But at some point a change is needed, you can't keep doing the same things and expecting different results. My bigger concern is watching Josh Allen regress this year. Is it a sign that some of his super hero traits are slowing down after such a physical career? Or is it more a function of the team/coaching around him this year? We don't really know, he could have 1-2 years of elite play left or 6-8...but what I do know is now is that I am not willing to gamble whatever elite years he has left on a system and regime that hasn't been able to get over the hump yet with maybe the most gifted QB to ever play. As Alec Baldwin says here - "The good news is you are all fired. The bad news is you all have 1 week to earn your jobs back starting with tonights sit." This is where I am at right now - mentally they are all fired with one chance to win their jobs back and that is win the SB this season. Scene link below - highly recommend watching it whether you have seen it not just because its really just an all time great movie scene.

Who do we want, who do we need as our next OC/DC?
Alphadawg7 replied to Sierra Foothills's topic in The Stadium Wall
All I know is I want Brian Flores as our next HC. He was the best HC Miami had since Shula who got more out of his rosters than most do. Pair him with an innovative OC and pick his DC. He got such a raw deal in Miami its stunning he isn't a HC again already. I would also be open to BB and McDaniels combo - not sure McDaniels leaves NE for anyone but BB at this point, if he would even do that given the upstart Pats and young stud QB. -
To be fair, it more often than not does implode. There are not many examples of it working and resulting in a Lombardi trophy, but lots of examples of if not working or even becoming a long term disaster. And it looked like it was headed for an implosion in LA too, but they were able to make some moves and hit on some picks that changed that course pretty fast. Bills are one of those teams that better be trying to go all in this offseason if we don't get there this year. This team has been too close, go get the difference makers, and get it done.

That was before ICE showed up

Worst part is that the Rams being this good and loaded with cap space and extra picks is being wasted on a city that barely shows up for their games though lol. But damn, they really set themselves up well for the future. Too bad its being wasted though on a city who doesn't appreciate it. Its early, but not sure this is the draft class to be hunting for a life after Stafford QB...if I am the Rams, I am probably looking to move one of those first for a future first rounder in a deeper QB class.

It helps when your day 3 WR pick becomes one of the 5 best WR's in football.

This is why its laughable when I see people on here who think we are, or could, trade 2 firsts for McVay. McVay is the golden boy there, he is LA football. He is what Carroll used to be when he was at USC, untouchable. Not only do the Rams love McVay, but all 307 of their fans in Los Angeles love him too. Plus, McVay is all about that LA life. It takes a tall glass of delusion to think we can trade for McVay.

Oh I see that now, I missed his comment about that. Yeah that’s insane comment

Nobody said it was. You’re the one who brought up Keon in a thread discussing the coaching issues.
-
Our issues are bigger than Keon Coleman being a starting WR here. And Coaching is definitely one of those issues. The coaching doesn't get to get off that easy. Keon wasn't even in uniform in the pathetic display of a game against Houston that had loads of issues in it.

I'm really starting to love this WR room. We quietly got better

We have a ton of evidence - you are just ignoring it. 2023 as you pointed out showed he is more than just a short dump off threat when he had more yards than Diggs on half the targets. So when he was OPPOSITE a legit WR1, he was used totally different and produced despite limited targets due to the target hog Diggs still was even in his short area use. Diggs, who was the WR1, saw his production fall off a cliff despite the high volume - and why - because Brady STOPPED throwing to Diggs down field and FORCED a short throw attack with Diggs, just like he NOW uses for Shakir as our TOP option. That is the Brady offense, and we have evidence of that with and without that top end WR1 option on the team. 2024 now without a legit WR1 on the team and Shakir now more the lead WR based on personnel and usage, he was relegated to lots of short area work, but was still on pace for over 1000 yards had he not lost 2 1/2 games to injury and us sitting people week 18 - and again that does not even factor the several games where the Bills took the foot off the pedal in several blow out wins last year. The evidence clearly shows he is capable of more than how he is currently used in the Bills offense. What your issue is with this is puzzling to begin with. Like why do you care so much about capping his ceiling. Especially for a guy who is special with the ball in his hands and has a high catch rate his whole career. Neither myself or anyone else is arguing he is a WR1, but you have long had this agenda to limit what he can be for some reason. No one is advocating him to be our top WR moving forward. If you don't think even just 200 more yards is possible with Andy Reid, Sean McVay, etc where he isn't being forced into one limited style and forced to be the lead WR then it doesn’t feel like you are very interested in being objective about it. -

You didn’t even address the key point which is the fact he is in Brady’s offense. And when he was opposite Diggs under Brady he produced more yards than Diggs on half the targets. That’s shows 2 things, when he has a WR1 he can be used in more areas of the field than Bubble screens and that Brady doesn’t know how to make use of his WRs or a WR1 given Diggs production fell off a cliff despite his targets remaining high as he turned Diggs into a short throw WR. So no disrespect, you actually only further made my point IMHO. That in a different offense his ceiling is higher than it is here from a production standpoint. And you again mention his totals last year as a ceiling yet ignore he lost about 2 1/2 games of production, not to mention the many times last year we stopped passing in the 2nd half in blow out wins for whole quarters even some halves. -

Alphadawg7 replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Our disagreement was really his ceiling as a player vs his ceiling as a Buffalo Bill under a Joe Brady offense. Whatever you think his ceiling is here with Brady, I think it is higher if he was on another team outside Brady’s offense. He was on a 1000 yard pace last year had he not missed 2 1/2 games (game he left early getting hurt, game he missed while hurt, and week 18 when we sat out top players) he would have been a 1000+ yard receiver. And that’s on an offense that under utilizes him and forces way too many throws to him at or near the LOS. If he was on a team playing next to a legit WR1 in a passing offense, like say the Rams next to Nacua, I think it’s quite plausible he could add another couple hundred yards to his production. Especially if he’s getting more than just bubble screens thrown to him half the time. Or put him on a team that knows how to maximize his talents like KC and he would feast. So where we disagree is that his production has peaked here overall based on his abilities. Where we do agree is that he shouldn’t be the top target WR1 on a team and his production ceiling here under Joe Brady is what we are seeing, especially with us missing a true WR1 and any downfield threat around him. But he’s better than what we get out of him here even though he’s been pretty damn good here. -
Why is this still a thing? McD and Bills have adamantly shut this down - not that anyone needed them too, everyone and their mom knows they don't get along. Might as well speculate the tooth fairy is going to join the coaching staff too as they have about the same odds.

I’ve never said at any point Shakir was a WR1. Literally never made that claim. And I’ve never said he should be the focal point either. -
Will Josh Allen want to stick around for a rebuild?
Alphadawg7 replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall
Josh Allen wants to win a SB more than anything else in football. He is not going to force or demand a trade any time soon. I spoke with his mom at the ACC Golf Tournament for a while in July, and she said outside family and his wife, nothing matters more to him than the city of Buffalo. He truly feels he was put here, that his fate and path were shaped, for him to land in Buffalo. I can assure you, there is no thoughts in his head of leaving Buffalo. Maybe real late in his career things could change, but I would be stunned if he got to a place where he wanted to be traded until much later in his career if he still hasn't won one and the team isn't close. -

Is watching the Bills fun for you these days?
Alphadawg7 replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall
I get it, and I can’t say it never affects me into the night on those night games. But for the most part, since marrying my bad a** wife, having two incredible boys (2 1/2 and 13 months) and just realizing how blessed I am for that changed my whole perspective. I learned to detach from the game, and while I still bleed Bills colors, I just find it easier to just let it go relatively quickly and appreciate what matters more - family, love, health, and another day alive to enjoy it all. My opinions and passion for the Bills are still strong, I just don’t let them interfere with life and mental wellness. -

It’s a game. It should not affect your life this much. I get high and low during games sure, but once it’s over I don’t let it linger and go on just fine enjoying my wife and kids. I mean my life doesn’t change if they win or lose a game. I want them to win as bad as anyone, but if they don’t, whatever. Even if we win a big game, the euphoria wears off quickly as it again doesn’t impact my life or what’s important in it. So my tip or advice is change your emotional attachment to the game and just decide it’s not going to impact your life, so whatever. For example - last night I was yelling plenty at the TV during the game. I was pissed and annoyed at the outcome. An hour later it was out of mind, was playing legos with my son and then laying in bed putting my other 1 year old in bed after as I watched season 3 of Tulsa King. Still enjoy the sports talk and stuff after, good or bad, but my life is great regardless win or lose. -
I would not put a waiver claim in, he prob won’t play this year and may never live up to the contract. He clears waivers, then sign if he’s healthy
-
I still think we make the playoffs - will we win a game? Well thats a whole other question.

This. This is our worst issue right now IMHO. We have enough talent to be effective, but not when the OC is failing at his job as bad as Brady has been this year. Yes, everyone knows we could use a top end WR1 or deep threat, but that doesn't get to be the excuse for Brady when his play calling and adjustments are so bad. Our offense has gotten so predictable and the blue print to disrupt it has been there all year. When the league started to figure McVay out, he adjusted and countered. Brady is not doing a good job at this, nor is he doing a good job to keep the defenses guessing. It is so easy to tell what we are about to run or call most the game. Then there is his terrible adjustments, or lack there of: I was screaming all game to attack short, quick hitters. Quick drop and fire - screens, slants, short crossers, comebacks, curls, shots to the RBs out of the backfield, etc. But we were calling stuff constantly that take too long to develop against a pass rush owning our line rushing just 4. Allen constantly taking deep drops and looking downfield behind a line getting dominated and crushing our QB was one of the dumbest things I have seen him do yet, and she stuck with it until the very end before he finally did something different and attacked quick hits to move the ball the final drive. This team has issues on it overall - but Brady has gone from a hero (last year) to approaching a zero this year because he doesn't seem to have the answers to what opposing DC's are now doing to disrupt his offense. Side note: The WR group out there has been terrible this year on scramble drills too. I don't understand how this is so bad this year when its been such a big part of our offense for years.
