Im happy to see Davis back and hope to see him on the field sooner rather than later with Palmer out. But - we may all want to curb the expectations a bit. When he was here before, he was opposite Diggs. Now he is opposite Keon or Palmer when he will be in the game. Not the same thing.

Wide Receiver Train Full Speed Ahead- CHOO CHOO!
Alphadawg7 replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
He’s worse. And it’s not even a question. -
No disrespect, but IMHO Im not sure how Keon looks any different than anyone else in this clip. Look we need more from him, and honestly I think Brady is using him wrong, but I feel like people are just looking for stuff now and manufacturing things a bit out of nothing. There’s nothing wrong with Keon on this clip from what I saw, just my 2 cents.
-
Yeah I am too, this was more of a just in case which is why I was like just try it out in practice some in case we are still a dumpster fire on the back end as we get closer to playoffs.

Allen has definitely not been up to par most the season. He has been bailing on the pocket too early (and that cost us the Pats game late), he isn't seeing guys who are open, he is missing throws, he had multiple bad decision picks, and his ball placement has been wildly inconsistent resulting in either missed throws or completed throws that should have gone for bigger gains or scores with a better ball. I am not worried, I do believe he will find a way to turn it on, but something is definitely off right now. And I think part of the problem is Brady and his misuse of the personnel. Keon - They have turned him into literally Mack Hollins 2.0 with how they use him. He is getting the most snaps (100% on Sunday) because they have made him a blocker first rather than a primary target. Its also hard for a primary WR to get it going when most the snaps they play are not intended to get him the ball. And when they do use him as a pass catcher, they keep trying to fit a square peg into a round hole and are using him wrong. That is on Brady. Shakir - He is coming off the field WAY too much. He is by far our best WR and they are taking him off the field way too much in a rotation. Shakir is Allens best outlet, they need to keep the targets he feels the best about on the field more. He isn't tired, he doesn't need the rest, but this obsession to get 8-10 different guys touches every week is keeping Allen from having his best players on the field more. OVER OBESSESSION WITH BLOCKING - A major issue with this offense is that on a lot of our called passes, there is a primary read where the other targets are there to clear out and block with one check down option. If that primary read doesn't come open and they got the checkdown covered, it doesn't leave Allen anywhere to go with the ball. LET OUR TARGETS BE TARGETS! This is a big reason why when we get into the 2 minute offense we see us move the ball easier, there is less focus on scheming a guy open with guys to block and more on pushing the ball down field where our targets are running more as actual targets. Samuels/Moore - They need to choose ONE and get him involved. They basically are splitting the reps that should be there for one WR, and again, its hard for a QB and WR to get rhythm and in sync when they are just in and out of the huddle so much. Pick one already and let Allen get used to throwing to them. Too many multiple TE sets. If we are going to run different big packages with 2 and 3 TE's, then use them in the passing game like they said they were going to do when they drafted Kincaid after paying Knox. I have been a big fan of Brady through his first 1 1/2 seasons. But in 2025 he has not been good and his adjustments have not been good. Yes we had a big points output against Carolina, but the reality is the passing game still had all the same issues and was anemic. Our score was based on the run game and the bad Carolina offense and defense. If this team plays the same way on offense next week against KC, I am telling you we wont win. Cook isn't getting over 200 yards rushing on the Chiefs, Allen and the passing game will need to be effective vs KC or we might be headed for a wildcard birth this year if we lost that game and potentially go down 2 games to the Pats in our division.

Hate to say this … but the Pats are effing good
Alphadawg7 replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
THIS. There is this urban legend that Allen has a great deep ball and that all we need is a deep guy. But its really his worst throw, even on completions he leaves the ball someplace its tough for YAC. Queue someone responding with a clip of the Davis throw against the Steelers or something like 5 years ago while ignoring the plethora of missed throws, INT's, or poor throws that were completed but left yards/points on the field because he didn't hit the wide open guy in stride. I am one of Allens biggest fans, but his bread and butter is not the deep ball. His best version of shots down field are the ropes he can throw 20-30 yards that most other QB's just can't or his scramble drill throws. But sitting in the pocket and taking deep shots is not his strong suit. -
Honestly, once Max shows he is ready for all the snaps, then in practice if I was McD, I would experiment with getting Bishop some reps as SS and trying Tre on some reps at FS. Im not delusional, this isnt Madden where you just plug him in there and poof Tre is a FS. But, plenty of talented CB's have made a successful transition to S late in their careers where there explosion has waned but still have good instincts and ball skills. Tre has that, he has the IQ, etc to potentially make a successful transition. I am not saying just move him, but why not try and get him some reps in practice and see how it goes, could be a better combo come playoff time.

Jags listening to trade calls for Brian Thomas

Seriously this guy is the anti-poon of WR’s. Go ask JSN what he thinks about him. I have no doubt he and the combo of fake Football Jesus Lawerence are why he’s regressed. He may or may not equal what he did as a rookie ever again, but I know Waldron is not the guy I would ever judge a WR on. -

If they traded up it would have been to get BTJ, not Keon. All they had to do to get Keon was stay in front of the Pats who wanted Keon top of the 2nd. -

I don't disagree that Murray is part of the problem, but MHJ has also been a let down to the hype. -
Giants, Daboll and Skattebo - fined avoid suspension
Alphadawg7 replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
This was the proper outcome - just fine them and move on. It wasn't the issue some made it out to be in the media or around here. -
Jags may not want to send BTJ to a conference rival to play with prime Josh Allen - so in that case, I am ok with over paying to get him here, he would be that great of an add IMHO. Size, speed, length, youth, and 3 1/2 years left on a rookie deal. That is the move to make, and again, being in the same conference will likely mean we have to be aggressive on our offer. If others are offering a 2, we better offer a 1st kind of thing. If others offering a 1st, we better offer more.

I am going to go on record here and say this: I have been a big Beane guy during his tenure, and I think he gets too much flak about the post Diggs WR room which there literally was not much more he could do outside of over paying for a one dimensional DK that would have cost us players this year and caused us to lose Cook too. So I don't think DK was the right move either. Very few trades are ones that are no brainers and near MUST do moves - and BTJ is one of those trades (if he really gets traded). It is such an obvious move for the Bills, that if BTJ really does get traded and the Bills were not in on him, then I think Beane and this regime are on the clock the rest of the year and we better at least reach the SB or I will be on the full regime change train. He is on a rookie deal for 3 1/2 more seasons, cost is not a problem. Youth, Size, Length, Speed, and Affordability - there has never been a more perfect scenario to add something like that an offense that sorely needs it. Even if the real BTJ is some where between last season and this season, its worth the price to get him because just the THREAT of him will dramatically help this offense. I don't care if it takes a package like we spent for Diggs or a first and a player, it will be worth the price to this team. This is a crossroads moment for Beane. Look, if BTJ doesn't get traded, then it is what it is. If BTJ gets traded and the Bills were at least confirmed to have tried, I can live with that. I mean we can't make the Jags trade with us, and they may not want to send him to play with Josh Allen in their same conference. But news better come out that we at least tried. -

While I would certainly send Keon and a 2, I think if the Jags move him they will want either more draft assets or a defensive player instead of a WR that has his own slow start and struggles this year. I would have no problem including a 1st and a player. You are getting size, lengthy, speed, youth, and a rookie contract for 3 1/2 years. Make this trade and make it now. You see I have never been against adding WR talent, where I have pushed back is that "heir to Diggs" has literally not been available in the draft. But BTJ was the closest and we either didn't try to move up or were rebuffed, either way he was not an option to us but always felt like the one we missed on getting. Truthfully, I doubt the Bills could have gotten ahead of the Jags to get in based on the teams ahead of them, who they took, and how strong those teams were in on those players. But I also don't think we tried either given Beanes approach heading into that draft. But none of that matters now, this is a REAL shot at a real WR1 lead replacement for Diggs that we CAN afford without gutting the roster elsewhere. GO GET HIM BEANE and pay the premium price it will likely take to get the Jags to send him to a conference rival. I don't care if its a 1st and a 4th like Diggs, or if it is a 1st and a player like AJE...just make the trade. This makes waayyyyy too much sense for this team right now in a year we are seeing KC revitalize and now on our tail for the 1 seed again after we just blew 2 winnable games with a stagnant offense. Our defense at least has players now coming back that could help boost it - the offense is in the rut it is with healthy players. You gotta make a move, this is the move to make! -

BEANE - YOU NEED TO MAKE THE CALL! I would give them a 1st + another pick/player. Size, Speed, Youth, and Cheap!? Are you kidding me, how has the trade not already happened? Thats how obvious of a move this is. If I am Beane, I am not worried about how off he is this year, make them an offer they have to take and just get it done. Don't low ball this for leverage about his season this year playing with a trash can QB to where someone else makes the better offer. Go get him, and we are in the same conference, we will have to be the top offer for them to send him to us. And Beane better get on this, with BTJ rookie contract, he will have a LOT of teams who can afford to make this trade. -
I think a lot of people underestimate the impact of missing so many guys that were assumed to be important to the D or even amongst our best guys. Oliver, Milano, and Bernard have all missed relevant time. Arguably expected to be 3 of our better players. Max has missed the whole season so far, our first round pick expected to at least contribute early, if not already be starting by now. Both our FA signings on the DL are both expected to be heavily involved in our rotation up front but have missed the whole season on suspension thus far. So I do think our defense can, and should, be better once we get more of these guys on the field at the same time. I think its fair to add in that Walker seems to be getting even better each week too and his minutes and impact should also rise. Now - all that being said, I don't trust Babich at all, and I think a lot of our struggles even with the guys out falls on him too. So if we don't see a noticeable difference once we start getting all these guys back on the field, then I think McD needs to take over the play calling duties.

I think this will all but seal Tre starting for a little while longer as I doubt they want to go out unsettled at S and with a rookie CB starting too. I am never one for just saying lets move some DB to S, its not some seamless transition that a lot of people think. But assuming the Bills don't make any moves to bring in another safety, one thing I would experiment with in practice is trying Cole out at SS and Tre out at FS. Im not delusional, CB and S are not the same position, and just moving someone from one to the other isn't as easy as many make it sound. BUT - Cole might be better at SS, I have actually long thought that, and Tre has been an elite player in his career, is highly intelligent, and still has good instincts but lacks the pop to succeed still at CB. Looking back at guys who have made that transition successfully and played at a high level at the new FS position, its usually been high IQ players who were great CB's before their speed started to slip. Tre fits the mold of a guy who could potentially pull it off. So - I would at least experiment with it in practice as Max starts to show he is ready to start and see how it looks.

The funny thing is that I know for a fact Ladd wasn't on a lot of peoples radar here because I got so much push back when I said Ladd was the WR5 in the draft behind MHJ, Nabers, Odunze, and BTJ. I kept saying he will be one of the best WR's to come out of this draft, him and Ricky Pearsall too. Most people argued he was just going to be a slot WR in the NFL. All I heard was how Adonai, Legette, or Franklin (the most common 3) were the WR5, some even having Adonai or Legette above BTJ even. Where I did agree is that Ladd (and Ricky) would work more in the slot in the NFL. And as much as I loved Ladd, there was never a point where I felt like he was a realistic option for a team to draft another WR who is projected to play more out of the slot than the outside. But now there is all this outrage we didn't take him from a lot of people who weren't hyping him up before or during the draft. The hindsight is 20/20 and revisionist game is a waste of time. Funny thing about those, people always forget they were wrong back then too and pounding the table for guys who have worse stats than even Keon has for their careers so far. Reality is, that if the Bills could go back and do the draft again, they probably skip WR with that first pick and take Cooper or some other position because drafting another slot WR doesn't do a lot for this team and there have been no other outside WR's to emerge from that draft at any point where we were on the clock.

Joe Marino's 9 point plan for improvement

Why do we put up with a team that was a ref screw job away from the SB last year? The nerve us to accept such mediocrity. -
Because they don't know for how fast his recovery is going to be. They get a free week here to let him recover and see how its responding. If it starts look like its week to week and may only miss a game or two they wont need to use IR. If its not progressing enough to where its probable he will miss more extended time, then IR will come into place. This is pretty standard for all teams, they had a bye week where no roster decision was needed to be made yet to give him time in treatment to get a better prognosis on how he is responding to the treatment. No disrespect, but literally no team is going to prematurely IR someone keeping them out a min of 4 weeks if they have a free week to see if treatment can result in him coming back sooner, especially with his type of injury. This textbook and the right decision by the Bills

Plausible X/#1 receiver trade candidates — are there any?

Wide Receiver Train Full Speed Ahead- CHOO CHOO!
Alphadawg7 replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
Thanks for clarifying. But no disrespect, I don't know I would start nit picking the 2022 draft that saw us take Cook in the 2nd, Bernard in the 3rd, Shakir in the 5th, Araiza in the 5th (didn't work out, but he was worthy of the pick), Benford in the 6th. 2023 we used almost the whole draft on offense, including 1st, 4th, and 5th on pass catchers and our 2nd on OL help for Josh too. Literally 4 of our first 5 picks were used on offense. And it is known Beane tried unsuccessfully to trade up higher in that draft before the WR run, and was unsuccessful and rebuffed. And I have first hand knowledge the Chargers were one of the teams who had no interest in trading set on Quentin. 4 WR's went off the board in a row and left us trading up for what was literally the highest graded offensive weapon still on the board in Kincaid. And he was 100% drafted to be a weapon for Allen, to be a bonafide 2nd target weapon along side our top 5 WR Diggs. The only non day 3 pick he used on defense was Dorian Williams in the 3rd, and in his only stint starting for a partial season he led the team in tackles. Hard to fault them for taking him there when 1st, 2nd, and our 4th (via trade up) had already been used on offense. Again - you keep ignoring the context. I am all for adding WR's too, but you just keep saying they could have done this and that without considering the real world events that actually happened. Beane then also spent a future 3rd on Cooper, another high value draft asset on another WR which with our $31M dead cap hit was about the best case scenario given his contract was owed under $1M when we acquired him. So now add in we also spent a 2025 draft asset of a 3rd round pick also on a WR. And I know you and most everyone here supported that trade. We can all have revisionist theory now and say well maybe we should have held on to that 3rd and used that 3rd to draft a WR this year, but thats not what anyone was saying when the trade was made that was almost universally accepted around here. We already know 2022 was Beane's best overall draft ever, even with Elam busting. 2023 we used 3 of our picks on pass catchers, and 5 of our 7 picks on offense. 2024, we used our first pick to take a WR, in a draft that has not seen any outside WR after him be any better than Keon has. And 2025, our defense was by far our biggest issues and our WR room upgraded the overall talent in the room compared to the 2024 group that was part of the best offense in Bills history. I respect the convo, and the different perspective. But I do not think you are really being fair to Beane when factoring in how much he did actually invest in weapons and protection for Allen since 2022 really, and what few options he has had to legitimately replace Diggs and add to the room since the Diggs relationship blew up earlier than intended, which included saddling a cap strapped team with $31M in dead money too.
