Do you think Gailey can change Trent?
High Mark replied to Bufcomments's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My take on the Bills QBs Losman early in his career was a reckless gunslinger who scrambled, improvised, and threw bombs. He played like a kid in a back yard. Edwards early in his career was a quick accurate decision maker who rarely took a sack and it looked like he really understood the game. He was very analytical in his approach. Fast forward to the end of their careers - both are hesitant and gun shy. Neither can read a defense. Losman never scrambles and Edwards seems confused. Both take sacks. How do two completely different QBs with completely different games end up being the same QB after roughly the same amount of time under center? THE SAME SH*T COACHES. I dont want Edwards cut because he still may have a chance at turning it around and should be given an honest shot in camp. I dont really think Losman has anything to offer because he was always so damn inaccurate - which just wont fly in the NFL. He wouldnt resign here anyways. -
I will go on record mid 5th round or later for Lefevour as far as his draft selection goes. Playing in the CFL in 3 years or less.

Id rather have Losman 10 times over.

James Hardy - Take a look at this
High Mark replied to Silvercrw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
ally sick and tired of this B.S. Lee Evans is a very good receiver. He has no one to throw the ball to him. owens was thrown to last year about twicw as ofter. Fact: A Bills quarterback has not had a three hundred yard passing game in seven years. SEVEN YEARS! Is that because of the wide receivers or the guys throwing the football? Please stop blaming Lee Evans for our dysfunctional passing game. The guy keeps his mouth shut and catches the football. Losman threw for 350+ vrs the jets in that game a still cant believe we lost. That was less than 7 years ago. -

Thats his highlight tape? Bust... -
Cannot say I am suprised by this at all. Well I guess I am in a sense that his stock inherently had to be high, in order for it to fall, right? He was clearly the better NFL prospect in the bowl game Agreed 4th round for sure, 3rd round more realistic. PS who exactly is that a quote from?

Yahoo article on drafting 3-4 players
High Mark replied to Green Lightning's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know they have to be athletic, but so do the 4-3 DEs. What do you think there are more of on earth - athletic 250lb guys or athletic 270 lb guys? 3 or 4 times more than the number of 4-3 DEs that put the fear of God in me. No one can step on the field with LT, he was/is the best ever 4-3 teams use big NTs to. See Pat Williams and Sam Adams. -
I guess if you call that refreshing

Yahoo article on drafting 3-4 players

IMO there are a lot more players in the mold that favors teh 3-4 than 4-3. ie its not that hard to find a 6'3'', 250-260lb athlete, which is the ideal size of a 3-4 OLB. Its really hard to find a 6'4''+, 275lb athlete, which is the ideal size of a 4-3 end. -
2 defensive prospects in this years draft
High Mark replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ill bet the farm if he stepped on a scale right now he wouldnt weigh either of those weights. Peoples weight fluxuates. The guys could go to bed at 304 and wake up at 298. That might be what drives me nuts most. "Maybin is 250!!!! just look at the roster, it posts his combine weight!!!!!!" And Big Pat Williams has been 317 lbs every year of his 14 yr career -
10 - 11 potential first round draft picks
High Mark replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I still remember this one day at St John Fisher, during the Bills training camp, I was walkin down the sidewalk when a black Hummer, lifted with like 28" chrome rims, blacked out windows, and a thumpin stereo cruises by. I think "thats gotta be Bills players!!!" So I take notice, and as they drive past I notice some smoke bellowing out of a cracked window on the passenger side.... Sniff sniff, yep reefer. -
I struggle to see how adding another gimmick player, a ? tackle/more like a G, and a backup-at-best QB fills all the holes. What about LT, RG, and even RT. What about OLB and NT? I know we cant fill the holes but getting one starter out of the top three rounds on a team in need of help is not a great draft. PS: I would be interested to know who we passed on in each round. Im sure Dan Williams/Morgan/Grahmam were there in rd 1. They would unequivically be better selections for our team. In the second why not the "incest impeder" in round 2 - a segment on NFLN had casserely reporting every scout he knows has him as a round 1 grade on the field, but maybe a round 2 selection because of his past. Some he said had him as a better LT than Okung. Id rather take him because he has a better chance to be a great LT no? Where does Spikes go? We would have a very hard time passing on him in round two let alone 3. If we pass on him at 3 thats down right dumb. Could he be taken over Lefevour? if you want a QB why not J. Brown - he has more NFL potential.

Cover two - or Tampa two - is a coverage. While that is our base D, the Bills didnt run that coverage every play. Wilson spent more time at the line of scrimmage last season than he did playing a deep half of the field. In fact, when we did keep two safetys deep it was Byrd and Whitner with Wilson still on the field at the LOS - yes we used 3 safeties at once. I struggle to see how so many think Wilson played FS last season, and I also struggle to see how others believe Whitner is the better SS? At least from last years performance.

2 defensive prospects in this years draft
High Mark replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mayock or Kiper has Butler as the 2nd best ILB ahead of spikes - I forget which one, but while he doesnt get much press from fans, I bet he is well known by the scouts. My new wish list picks are - all in order of preference 1- BPA between Bulaga/Clausen/Dan Williams or Iupati/McClain 2- Tony Washington/Charles Davis/Mt. Cody/M. Pouncy 3- Spikes/Gronkowski (the Buffalo native TE from arizona)/Jarret Brown /John Jerry -
Why dont you just develop your own opinions on the guy rather than argue about other peoples? IMO, Lefevour has little to offer the NFL, which will be reflected in his draft position and the success - or lack thereof - he has throughout his career (which I believe will be short) See hoe easy it is!!!!!
-
Now when they say "arm strength" thats what they mean. Easily a 65 yard (if they let it hit the ground) frozen rope while rolling out. Brown is my #1 late round QB for Buffalo. He has a lot more NFL potential than any other late round guy. With his accuracy, arm strength, and near perfect footwork/mechanics, he is not a long ways off either. Needs work on reading defenses I am sure but from the games I saw last year on tv - he did alright (you cant see much on tv though)

People need to realise just how much of a joke the Senior Bowl (the actual game) really is. A QB gets 1 weeks with all new team mates, all new plays, and no tape to study. Then they go out there with about 7 plays in their arsenal and wing it. Think pick up basketball game at your local YMCA, only football. Saying a guy looked great in the Sr bowl is nothing.
-
College still has it best - how exciting was that OK/Boise OT a few years back? The only change would have to be move the ball start back to the 40 or 45 to get it out of the range of NFL kickers. Thats a true do-or-die OT

Yahoo Article also talks about McNabb & Bills
High Mark replied to BobbyC81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So he would play for the Rams - owners of a top 2 pick three years running - over us? Maybe a new low.... -
The only reason Maybin saw time over Ellis last season was one of two reasons, or maybe a combination of both. 1- Dick Juaron and co proved they could not evaluate talent, having Maybin play over Ellis is another example of this 2- Maybin was a first round pick. So yes your idea is plausible
-
Generally, SS's move into the box on run plays and are the "eighth guy" They also cover the TE at the line of scrimmage and are shaded to the strong side of the field. Thats what Wilson did, while Byrd/Donte stayed deep. Donte played both last year, but more free than strong, Wilson may have taken a few snaps at free, but was never a constant at that role. Im not sure what you were getting at, but Wilson is a strong safety - and was the Bills best defender along with K. WIlliams last season.
-
If I were to refer to last season I would say "Donte was outplayed by a backup" - meaning G. Wilson. I think thats waht Galiey did there. I sure hope so at least, the last thing we need is another coaching staff that cannot evaluate their own players. See Leonard/Greer/Jackson etc.

McNabb to the Bills for Picks?
High Mark replied to CountDorkula's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would trade Losman/McCargo/Whitner/Maybin for McNadd - thats 4 first round picks! Draft picks are useless in the hands of our scouts (or are least were - maybe on the were) - trading them for proven veterans may be the best way to turn this team around. -
Op - Harris is a gret football player. Does he fit in our new 3-4 is the question. At the end of the day, he is still better than Ellison!
