Graham is a monster and I would love to land him on this team. -
We can't fix everything in 1 year...

Not bad in theory, but reaching for a need in the third round is a mistake IMO - Ts are not around that late. We need a tackle sure, but its the third round. Chances are we arent getting a starter, so just take the best guy. I would prefer following your strategy but for the OL. Draft two guys in the first three rounds and we have a real OL for the first time in years. If Bulaga or Okung is at 9 its a done deal. Maybe the Bills brass are really fond of T WIllaims or even Iupati at 9. Then I really think the value will be there in round 2 with a T like Charles Browns or A. Davis or a G/C prospect in Pouncy. Good interior guys are always around in the third as well and we should have the pick of the liter. Drafting a LT and an interior guy gives us 4 young studs with Green being the vet at RT. That is a great core to build an entire team around moving forward. We could use the same approach on D, but I think with the depth of the draft we are in a better situation to address the OL. PS We should get George Selvie in the 4th because I think he will be there. -
Id prefer to keep our best defensive player thank you very much. PS - other than some fans on message boards... who exactly has said Williams doesnt fit our new defense?
-
Just take the best player. T. Williams is not the best player at that point. Maybe its McClain, but I think OLB is more important at this point. That makes me think Morgan - but can he play OLB? Dan Williams is too much a reach. The best part of this scenario is that is wont happen. The draft never pans out the way we think it will.
-
Yes I would but I am hoping C.Brown will be there in the 2nd and would go with him over Davis. Brown has LT potential IMO.
-
We cant force a QB pick. Just cause we need one doesnt mean there will be one at 9 We need an LT, but if Bulaga and Okung are gone, I dont want Williams/Davis/Campbell. Id we ok with taking the best pass rusher. We didnt address that need last because Maybin doesnt count. With Davis and Poz inside our need is at OLB moreso than ILB. Besides if a guy like spikes is going to be there in the 2nd/3rd range thats great value. BPA!

http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2010/3/17/...s-lande-3-17-10 Russ Lande is a former college & NFL scout who now works for the Sporting News and he publishes the draft guide GM Jr every year: http://gmjrnfldraft.com/ If Clausen is available, do you think Buffalo will draft him at #9? They may be tempted, but if I were them I would go LT in the 1st round, the only QB I would touch early is Bradford and then maybe pick-up a QB later in the draft. I wasn't a big fan of Trent Edwards coming out, but now I think he has the ability and the intelligence, but the guy is a major head case right now. I loved Brian Brohm coming out of college, but so far I've whiffed on that since he already failed with his first team. Buffalo should draft a QB in a late round and then see what Edwards & Brohm do in camp. What tackles will be available in the 2nd round? What are your thoughts on Saffold? Saffold looks like a 3rd or 4th round tackle on film, he just doesn't play up to his skills set. If you watch him at the East-West game or at practices he has a great skill set, he his thick, he slides his feet well, he has good handwork but it just doesn't translate on the field for him. I see Charles Brown from USC available in the 2nd round, but I also possibly see Davis from Rutgers sliding to the 2nd Round and I really think Davis is a SLAM DUNK, he will be this year's Michael Oher. Charles Brown will also be a good tackle in the NFL, but he needs some work. (There were 2 other guys at this chat that recently graded Brown and they both loved him) Who do you like more Dan Williams or Jared Odrick? I'm not a big Dan Williams guy so I would go Odrick. Both will probably go in the first round, Odrick is more of a 3-4 DE while Williams is the NT. I have concerns about Williams moving in traffic and Odrick looked like a better athlete than he is at the combine, he worked out really well. How does Gresham compare to Pettigrew? Pettigrew is much better, he is a dominant blocker and decent pass catcher where Gresham is an average blocker and good pass catcher who will probably go in the 2nd or 3rd round. Gronkowski is the best TE in this year's draft but there are big concerns about his back holding up. Why do you have Buffalo taking Sergio Kindle at #9 at the War Room? I've spoken with scouts and other personnel inside the bills organization and they told me their top priority is front 7 and more specifically, pass rushers. They need pass rushers and don't be surprised when they draft a dominant pass rusher in the first round. Buffalo's future is certainly bright in the scouting department with Nix and Modrak together plus Doug Whaley, this organization has a bright future as long as they figure out their QB situation, they need to find a QB. What do you think about the DE form GT, Morgan? He is by far the best DE in the draft, way above the rest. He can play DE in the 4-3 or the 3-4 or he can play rush OLB in the 3-4, great player, by far above the other DE's in the draft. What are your thoughts on Everson Griffen DE from USC? I don't like the guy at all and would not draft him period. I would stay away from him all together. What other TE's do you like? I like McCoy from USC, Clay Harbor from Missouri State, and the TE from Iowa. There are a number of good TE's this year. Dickerson blew up the combine, probably the best TE combine in many years. Many great TE's this year, I have a super sleeper that I recently graded but I promised the scout that pointed him out to me that I wouldn't mention his name until early April. *That's all I got folks, I was a few minutes late plus too many questions for me to keep up with typing....I got a bunch of BUF related questions in, I know some of you are down on Russ, but he has his legit contacts around the league and he is respected by many former & current coaches and GMs. (example Dick Vermeil) If what Russ said is true, we can probably expect Kindle, Graham, or Morgan in the 1st round followed by a NT or LT in the 2nd round. Obviously BUF has shown in FA how important upgrading the front 7 is to them so we shall see It would seem Morgan is high on their list assuming they want pass rushers, this guy is saying he is the bet by far, and he is a Gailey recruit at GT. I cant say I would be angry because the LTs may be gone and we need good value at the pick. We also really need pass rushers - please dont give me the Maybin/Mitchell/Kelsay are going to play OLB crap.

Makes sense. Tebow may got at 10 to the Jags, and wont be around with our 2nd I bet. So if they want him, they can guarantee they get him. We dont need to fill atll the holes this year, because we wont have a good QB this year that doesnt really matter. -

The faults in Poz's game start and end with the poor play of the OLBs. -
Un-true assumptions. This FO is not going to trade away our top front 7 player.

What I think will happen come draft time.

Im not going to be happy if Trent Williams is out LT. We need football players not workout stars. -

At DE, nows he is out of position as an OLB He is a QB, We dont need him running much. But he is very athletic and can really move in the pocket. Thats the movement we need and he is more than athletic enough to do it. I have seen him throw way too many 50+ yard frozen ropes to say his arm is below average. And it didnt hurt Brett Farve to keep the ball at his hip for his entire career. -
Best post I have read. Byrd is not as good as everyone thinks, but he is very good. A few of those ints were gift wrapped and handed to him on a silver platter. Others - like his one vrs the Browns - was a touch down if it was an accurate throw. Others were great plays - like him out leaping B. Edwards. I did hear a quote from Dickie when he was being interviewed as a new coach with the Eagles (they asked about Byrd and Juaron working with him bc Philly needs safety help) Dickie said Byrd was one of the smartest players - rookie or 20 year vet - he has ever coached. He also said Byrd was at 80-85% this year bc of injury. Now I dont think we say Byrd at his best, but I also dont expect another 9 pick year anytime soon.

I assume this is the veteran 3-4 guy I have been hoping for. I dont know as much about Davis as I do about Foote, hopefully he is the better option.

Tebow has 10x more potential than any other player inthe draft. They will not fix the OL and DL in one year, and Tebow will not start this year, so thats ok. 4.7 40 is not slow. His accuracy is not poor. He has above average arm strength. You can fix your mechanics. Yep, sounds like a brilliant move to me. Mike Mayock seems to disagree, as he basically says everything he wants in a first round QB is everything Tebow has. He doesnt use Tebows name, but anyone who can read between the lines in the least can figure out who he is refering to. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-draft/09000d...f-drafting-a-QB Bottom line is Tebow will not fail. Unless you have played QB at some level, then you prolly dont know just how easy it is to take snaps from under center and do 3 5 and 7 step drops. The media makes it out to be a huge deal but its basically the easiest thing in football to learn. He throwing motion will change. Tony Romo has already been mentioned but Aaron Rogers did it too. At the end of their careers I bet Tebow is better than Cluasen and Bradford. -
James Hardy?

Yea, the only thing about that is Alabama is in a 4-3 most everytime I watched them? Fairly confusing... PS someone should tell Florence the best way to go green and save energy is to install a geothermal system, not solar panels. The catch is he needs the land to do it.
-
I did that back in April. But no, we need two OLBs. Maybin could play weak side, Kindle strong. I love Kindle, but B. Grahmam is better. I wonder if we will have a shot at either in the 2nd with guys like Piere Paul/Morgan likely to go before them, although I really doubt it. But you never know as E.Brown fell to the 2nd last year and Barwin and Johnson fell into the 3rd. In the third I would expect Norwood to be there and he would be a great addition.

Im sorry, maybe T. Williams will be the first T taken, but I can guarantee that he wont be taken by the Redskins while they pass on Okung. Dont they know anything about the kind of lineman Shanahan drafts? -
Opinion On What Our Strategy Will Be..........
High Mark replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
CJ Spiller is not worth the 9th overall pick any way you cut it. Not to us, or the 31 other teams. -
I wouldnt say sadly. I am glad WIllis got picked before the Bills pick, because the Bills WOULD HAVE PASSED ON HIM. Basically, I have decided its better for Willis to be picked before us, than to have Orakpo fall to us and we pass one him! :wallbash:
-
Mitchell will more than likely be on the PUP list to start the season.

I dont think its really any debate. Sure Cleveland clearly has done more in FA, no one would argue otherwise. But the Browns have been more active towards building through the draft also. They have traded away players for picks whom they have decided are not in their future pans, meanwhile the Bills have Kelsay/Schobel/others on the roster that dont fit in our 3-5 year rebuilding plan. Free Agency aside, the Browns have increased the number of draft picks in this coming draft and traded picks for players they know can help them rebuild. The only way the Bills can build better is to draft better - which only means our scouts/draft picks were better than the Browns, not that our method worked and theirs didnt. Would you rather have more draft picks to build a team from scratch, or less draft picks? Yea the Bills may get good doing it this way, but thats 5 years. The Dolphins and Falcons did it in 1 year being proactive. The Browns are being proactive.

I am hoping for a lock out because I am trying out!
