It’s so true. Would love to see a guy come in and have a Bryce paup type impact and a Ted Washington type on the interior. -

I agree on the ball coming out quick but at the same time the giants got home repeatedly yesterday rushing four. Those first two drives trubisky was under pressure each play. lots of teams get home rushing four. You have to have the talent to do It however. -

It's the guys. Our secondary nosedived in quality last season, which gives opposing QBs more opportunities to successfully get the ball out quickly. -

Hearing a TON of Jordan Hancock praise from film guys after the game yesterday. He’s a sneaky huge part of this Defense if the real deal because after Rapp/Bishop at Safety and Taron at NCB, the drop off in depth is steep. He would drastically raise the ceiling at one, or both of those positions, depending on how much they want to put on his plate this year. -

100% this. I honestly believe if we could cover this line will put up some good sack numbers. Am I wrong in thinking our coverage used to be better? I'm not sure if we gambled more and played less soft coverage. I feel like we blitzed a db more often. Maybe our DC's just aren't good at timing or are too predictable. Whatever the case you are absolutely right. They call the right play against our 3rd down defense all the time. We're either too soft and an easy catch and run or some type of screen or a jump ball for a big gain we just couldn't knock to the ground. -

It may be time to shrink the width of the uprights. I don’t want this becoming a league where when you hit the 50 it’s almost automatic points. -

While I agree, there should be some level of concern in regards to the defensive line. The giants threw the ball 51 times and the bills only got close a few times. the giants were without their left tackle and wr#1. The ball came out quick and Buffalo was without Bernard, rapp and bishop but still. scheme or not, generally when a team plays its starters on the defensive line in a home preseason game vs other teams backups they get home a few times. It’s just part of the sloppy play of preseason. mine of yesterday means anything and they will scheme lineman into favorable matchups and get sacks but it has to be a little concerning that no one could beat the guy In front of them and get home over 51 pass attempts. -

Agree with a lot of this. And don’t worry a ton with vanilla preseason scheme because they specifically brought in coaches who play more aggressive man and bring more pressure/sims. Do worry about CB2 with Hairston out, because the cushions Tre was giving were straight out of the Bengals playoff game a few years ago… and we know Dane is probably a step below Tre. We’re not getting to anyone if the QB can look over to our CB2 on 3rd and 8 and see he’ll have an easy quick completion at the sticks all game. -

He had his shot there yesterday from what I could tell from a distance in the stadium. He was a gunner on the first punt, and I believe a personal protector at one point as well. -

There’s a lot of merit to coverage scheme being part of the reason our pass rush doesn’t show up in big games. We’ve also never really had two legit corners at the same time. Which is why it was really concerning to see the way Tre played opposite Benford. Constant cushions, with one of them being absurd… Tre giving Robinson like 20 yards. Bengals playoff vibes. So was it vanilla coverage by design, or is Tre not capable to playing tight on quick/fast receivers? -
Wish we had left Dane at home with Cooper. In two drives I saw all I needed to see from Dane. He got beat deep by a guy who ran a 4.75 40 yard dash and got run over on a 3 yard pass that turned into a big gain which is the epitome of what's wrong with this defense.

Cooper announced his retirement. that shouldn’t stop Beane from giving away another third round pick for him. Everyone loved giving away a third round pick and probably would again if it was for a wr they have heard of. who needs third round picks when you have ogunjobi, hoecht, Forrest etc.

Are you saying the Bills should get a Chase, or that we're good with Keon, Palmer and Samuel? I thought you were saying that expecting a big jump and Palmer to be a beast is foolish.... which I would agree with. Josh is MVP because of his insane abilities. Give him more weapons and the offense would be even more unstoppable. Unfortunately Beane doesn't see it that way....

The modern day QB gets the ball out way too fast. You don’t get there with 4, nobody does. Unless you have a once in a lifetime game like the eagles in the Super Bowl..you gotta confuse them. You need to send pressure and have unpredictable coverage looks. We do the same thing every year and it’s never is going to confuse anyone. Every decent QB has whatever they want on 3rd down. We never make stops. It’s painfully obvious to anyone that watches is. This is THE problem. It just continues to be ignored and kicked down the road. You aren’t getting there with 4 because the QBs get the ball out to quick. It’s not our guys…it’s the scheme -

I am of the opinion that Cooper no longer wants to play football. Would rather roll the dice with Tre than bring back Douglas, who wasn't good last year.

That’s not clear to me at all. I think we are going to be much more exotic with 5 man pressures and simulation pressure based on the coaches they brought in and comments from players, but I came out of that game thinking any Front 4 combination of Bosa, Rousseau, Hoecht, Oliver, Sanders and Walker is going to be tough for opponents to deal with on passing downs.
