Let's take a second to appreciate James Cook
GunnerBill replied to Buffalo716's topic in The Stadium Wall
And I think Beane drafted him thinking he'd be a good receiving back and offer some pop in the run game. He has surprised even them I suspect. I am not trying to be smart after the event but there were people before that draft saying the Bills should take Breece Hall in the first and I said I think there is so little between them I'd rather take Cook in the second. It is now undeniably the case that Cook is a better back than Hall. -
If he can’t return punts with that speed he can’t play WR.

Come on now McKellar wasn't a guy that could put up 100 yards receiving. He was more of a redzone TD magnet. Shakir is reminiscent of Reed in both play from the slot. Yet Shakir is more jittery. The difference is the current Bills can score in long sustaining drives. See that 8 minute masterpiece we saw against the Chiefs to open the game. Had Kelly and co done that more we could have easily beat the Giants in Super Bowl XXV. -
Let the dude work his way into starting DB - team is better for it.

You have to take into account who will be managing those picks. The Jets waste them the wrong people and end up in the same boat 4-6 years down the line again, with a different coach, and a different failed QB. -

His college career, while solid, didnt really showcase his talents like other stud RBs. He finished his senior year 2nd on the team with 728 yards. The talent was there in spurts, but it really wasnt until his 2nd or 3rd yr in the NFL that he broke out and became the threat that he is today. Good job by Beane to take him in the 2nd, then build a running game around him, and then resign him. He's definitely worth it. -
Keon has more snaps than any other WR for some unknown reason. In what universe does that make sense? Is there a worse starting WR today? He’s been disciplined a couple times. He gets zero respect from opposing defenses. They put a Safety in the box, and dare us to beat them over top. But our WR, especially Coleman, have trouble separating. It was an easy position to upgrade, and we failed. We get Palmer back soon, that will help. But Keon has zero business starting. We lose Mack Hollins and Amari, and Palmer is supposed to replace those 2. Moore was an afterthought, after Beane’s WR tantrum on WGR, he signed Moore from the scrap heap. Shaheed is exactly what we need. I know there are brilliant minds in FO. How can they not see this obvious truth? A 3rd rounder would have gotten it done. Shaheed would have upgraded the return position, and allow us to replace Coddrington with a more useful player. Shaheed fit under the cap. Shaheed is the fastest WR in the NFL and would have gotten instant respect. Teams would have backed up- great for Cook, Shakir, Dalton. But we nothing, and they crowd the box, and make everything more difficult. We lose Hoecht and Ed, and do nothing. Useful players went for a 5th. Im shocked Beane did nothing. We have a good as chance as any team of winning SuperBowl this year. Why wouldn’t you want to improve yesterday? Like Marino said- “Brandon Beane- you better to be right. Hopefully you will be at peace with yourself, for the lack of action, at the end of the season”

No moves except the clearing of some cap space to add street FA's. Such is the life of a Bills fan. We had started to see what this defense could be with Hoecht looking like Lattimer on the juice again. Then, pop goes the achilles and we are right back at square one. I would have loved to see a move for another high energy pass rushing threat, or a WR, but the 2025 squad is the 2025 squad. Here's to hoping McDermott calling the defense again keeps us along the same trajectory, and the play from our TE's continues to offset the mediocre WR room.

Stefon Diggs. Hopefully a Zach Wilson/Mac Jones repeat. Tua also was a fairly recent top. pick in our division. It's great having Josh. And then Pittsburgh happened. Three INTs and 2 fumbles... oof! Nyheim Hines, Rasul Douglas, and Amari Cooper were all trade deadline acquisitions.... 3 years in a row. I haven't seen Indy play this year so I can't say how close I think they are. I guess we'll see soon enough. Again it's weird timing that Irsay checked out this year of all years. I saw where his famous rock memorabilia collection is going up for auction.

Health is obviously a consideration with every player in the league. For a back mind you James doesn't take that many big hits. He is a different style of runner to his brother. The bigger risk is him getting his ankle rolled up on etc which he did a bit Sunday and looked gimpy for a series or two afterwards. That can happen to anyone at any time. The him wearing down.... I worry less about that. -
SNAP/EBT/Food Stamps
BringMetheHeadofLeonLett replied to SCBills's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
This is massively more complex than people simply living off the dole, and it's almost certainly going to get more complicated as we navigate the concept of what employment is, as we progress through the infantile stages of BS Intelligence replacing human effort. For instance, what exactly do you see the near-future role of middle-management being? If I own a major company, I see 'replaceable' in their future, and not too far away. If true, do they need to learn ebonics to navigate the SNAP program? Education is key. -
Serious question how good are 7-2 AFC teams (and LAC at 6-3)

You don't need that long. If Seattle wins the Super Bowl and Saheed is a big part of that, they win the trade deadline. Same can be said for Indy, if they win the Super Bowl and Gardner helps that pass defense it's a win. The goal is to win the Super Bowl. -

The Patriots worry me the most because I think Drake Maye's best can lay up with Josh if Josh is at 80/85% of his best. Jones can't. He needs Josh to be at more like 50/60% and so does Nix. Herbert can lay up but without both tackles he is going to be running for his life unless the gamble on Trevor Penning (who I was a fan of coming out) pays off. If the Bills had to go on the road and beat the Broncos, Colts and Patriots to make the Superbowl you can sign me up for that right now. Not sure I'd include the Chargers in that personally. I think they are pretty beat up and I'd take the Chiefs roster over theirs right now. If everyone was healthy, possibly I'd agree. But their offensive tackles are arguably their two best players and they are both done for the year. -
Game week thread - Bills at Dolphins
Coffeesforclosers replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Here's your factoid of the week. If we beat the Dolphins, the all time record between us and Miami improves to 62-62-1. We'll have officially erased "0 for the 70s". -
Also I don't think Shaheed is the player some imagine him to be. That isn't to say he isn't good. Or he wouldn't have helped some. But I think people are building him in their heads to be something he isn't. He isn't a player who transforms this offense.
