A lot of people didnt like Jim back in his playing days. Actually a lot of people outside Buffalo hated the Bills and rooted for them to lose. I was a Kelly fan because he backed up the arrogance/bravado with his play and leadership. I still say that he throws a nicer touch pass than Josh does (esp deep). In short he was a special QB to watch. Never heard of the personal bad behaviour of Jim towards his wife or people in the Western NY area back then but remember that was pre internet and anecdotal stuff (combined with damning videos and audio) didnt really exist for another 10-15 years. I did hear from people who were connected to the team that the Bills loved to party back then. Something that I can personally attest, to seeing Bruce Smith at the Late Show in NFalls about 1AM on a Saturday night during the season. However in Bruce's defense, I think it was during the 1990 season and he was possibly injured. In the end judging Jim harshly seems a bit ridiculous considered the personal pain that he suffered with Hunter's condition and his own battles with cancer. That guy has been through a lot.

We do not do well against teams we are supposed to beat.

Bingo! I was surprised by the complete lack of adjustments to Houston's defense, as amazing as that defense is. I kept thinkiing they will adjust with quick throws, as opposed to the long ball when you have no time in the pocket, perhaps, a few well-executed screens. etc. But, we got zilch in terms of adjustments even after half-time. The coaches messed up big time first in terms of: (a) complacency; (b) preparing for a super, but somewhat predictable defense; and (c) making appropriate adjustments based on what they were seeing on the field. -
Brandon Beane looks so incompetent right now after the beatdown of Josh Allen on national TV. Mercole Hardman was his solution.

It’s possible the bills could hire new scouts who aren’t adverse to recommending big athletic receivers and linebackers. It’s possible the coach will put athletes on his defensive roster who can hold up for the season instead of old heads who are slow but can recite his nuclear scientific all encompassing defensive concepts or present day little McDermott overachievers (and proud of them we are).
-
There’s several teams over the years that don’t appear to be special, but get hot and make the SB. They may not win, but teams have gotten there. Gotta get in the tournament though.
-
The national media is turning on the bills mgt now. Something the locals can’t do as they need access and jobs. That’s a big shift.

I was at the game and let me tell you what was happening downfield

I think that the coaches see it but can't do anything about it due to the lack of talent at WR. There is nothing they can do about it at this point in the season. If the Waddle stuff at the trade deadline was true then Josh Allen has every right to be livid. -
..........we're still in play for a WC spot
-
Teams are constantly intentionally changing and disguising their looks, so i don't put a lot on JA's shoulders when it comes to missing what the D is doing sometimes........it happens to every QB and it takes time to understand these new looks, however, it should be up to our coaching staff to help him understand what he's seeing out there and i think they are sorely lacking on this.
-
Sometimes change is good for change sake. I think it applies to the mgt team now. They brought Diggs in and bam and somehow have unlearned that lesson. I think there’s a quality + trust + consistent WR issue and 17 frazzled

It’s only a flesh wound.

Why not? Dont have any mindset about it other than entertainment ..

Long list of Bills UFA / void year after the season

Well, so much for being a fiscally responsible perennial contender. -

It’d be a huge help if we could get more than one starter out of each year’s draft class. I’m certain it’d curtail the need for the free agent dumpster diving we’ve been witnessing. -
Well said.

I probably have to. Those hallmark acting is horrific. I see 13 seconds of bad acting and walk out of the room

Theoretically Josh should outlast Cam and Russ but it concerns me that he doesn't seem to be reading or seeing the field well this year. That skill should be improving, and it's going to have to to offset his decreasing mobility once he hits 30. Or perhaps he's seeing the field well but there's no body open?

I’m not complaining. I liked the guy who replaced the injured referee much better.

Greg Rousseau has turned out to be a complete slug.

I think Groot has had a decent season. It is just the Bills paid him like a player he is not. He is never going to be a big sack guy. He is a base end who plays the run and will have a big game as a pass rusher once or twice a year and otherwise he will get the odd clean up sack. -

All good comments. But in the modern NFL games are won and lost with turnovers, negative plays and 4th down stops (now that everyone has decided that they're ‘going for it’ all the time). Unfortunately the Bills Defense has been lacking in all of those categories…and the Bills Offense has been beyond horrendous at them at the same time. -
Thanks for the Cliff Notes. I’m good.
