A Few Thoughts about the Texans Game - Community Edition

Humiliating losses to Miami, Atlanta and Houston. All of a sudden this team is a turnover machine that gives up sacks like it’s free candy. They are undisciplined, soft and fragile, McDermott has clearly lost this team. The message is stale and the process is broken, time for a change. -
Not automatic, but holding a team to 23 or fewer results in a win ~75% of the time on average, league-wide. We should be able to hit well above that rate.

I DO NOT need to see Dawkins hamming it up and laughing with a Houston player 30 seconds after a penalty that blew their chance to win. So much to be angry about but this “yay, we are nice” act ain’t working. -

He has an 8-4 playoff record and 2 NFC Championships. McD is 7-7 and no AFC Championships and most of his playoff wins are against the #7 seed at home. -

Oh for fuxake stop with the spoiled nonsense. That's just not what is happening here. Fans are angry and sad that this window has apparently closed and the organization has wasted Josh Allen's prime. . The odds of them ever having a player like Josh Allen in a first contract + extension year pushes window ever again are slim and none. Just like there is not a chance in hell that they will ever be able to field a roster like the one's they had in the late 80's and early 90's. This is second time the Buffalo Bills have squandered a gift that should have yielded a dynasty. Now they might win a SB some other way but the organization has had two extraordinary windows of opportunity and they've blown both of them. That makes people sad. I don't necessarily feel as distraught as some because I remind myself that it's just entertainment and I have a lot of other interests..........but if you can't put it in it's proper perspective it's easy to understand the frustration. -

Its hard to be good in the NFL consistently. There are always down years, even for teams with generational QBs. Changes need to be made. -

The Marvin Lewis comp was something I looked at earlier this year. Feels like the same vibes. -
That totally went over your head.

And that is so frustrating to me as a fan. They have built an offensive roster that requires super human efforts from it's QB to put up the points needed to beat good teams. But because they have so completely failed on the defensive side of the ball the direction they have forced the O to take can not work over an entire season. If the Bills had the Texans D they would be winning Super Bowls. The bad defensive play demands a Bills offense with a completely different mindset and roster structure. We are witnessing a compressive failure to build the right team around a uniquely talented QB. Sure, Allen's play will likely get the Bills into the playoffs but that will be it. One or at best two and done. -

With Josh being off, one thing I dont understand in terms of a down and distance situation, is there are several times a game, where the first down is there for the taking, but Josh is trying to do more than is necessary. Somehow the short, first down isnt the first read. Thats was MVP Josh, limited the TO's. Didnt somebody say nobody went broke taking a profit. Josh needs to get back to that. This is a total team loss. Coaching, special teams, defense, OL, QB, not good enough. Zero sacks and TOs against the likes of Davis Mills is not good. -

Brady is terrible. But Josh also has to get rid of the ball. Throw your receivers open if they're not open right away. Make the defensive backs make plays or get PI. He put very little pressure on their coverage while making it really easy for their line. -
I was at the game too. I’ve been to most of the games since Josh has been quarterback, here in Houston and McDermott always loses them in the last five minutes. He refuses to blitz till the end. He was letting Mills complete passes with that stupid soft zone. What was wrong with that Brady why are they not leaving some running backs back there to block for Josh? He was getting killed.

Impossible, only 6 out of the 11 teams the Texans have faced managed to do that! -

Yes I tried to articulate that about how my wife and I feel the same. Game is early for us in CA and we did other things during the first half. I can’t prioritize something I can’t control 🤷🏻♂️ -

The coordinators never seem to scheme opponent specific. They just do what they always do on both sides of the ball and believe that it’s enough. They don’t make efforts to take away impact players, they don’t call game plans to attack an opponent’s weakness, they just scheme what they always scheme. -
Nonsense. There is no QB in NFL history who would have done better tonight.

playing from behind on the road is hard. When the defense gives up a bunch of huge highlight plays and backbreaking drives in the first half and you are losing doesn't mean they aren't the culprit when the offense, the qb doesn't save the day late in the game. -
Allen was marginal tonite. The receivers aren’t good. The playcalling is always shaky and predictable. But Josh wasn’t playing well either. In all 4 losses he was not close to being at the top of his game. He looked uncomfortable and not overly confident. We aren’t winning when he is playing like this. However, the roster isn’t anywhere near good enough to compete for a Super Bowl. That’s in Beane. The coaching is marginal and gives us no Advantages. I would fire Brady. His play calling cost us the AFCCG last year. And is only getting worse.
-
***** it just fire Brady this week and bring in Daboll, what do we got to lose.

I mean… the offense is kinda why the Texans scored over 20 (Shakir’s fumble in field goal range, for example). -

There isn’t enough media in Buffalo to run McClappy out of town. McClappy will stay just like what happened in Cincy with Marvin Lewis. Losing franchises that were just content with playoff berths. Crazy to think the NY media already ran Dabol out of town after winning COTY in 2022 and how the Philly media also got Andy Reid canned. -
