I believe Brady is good enough. He just needs to make calls that are better suited for an offense lacking in playmaking WR’s. Shakir needs to be better utilized. Cook needs to be run into the ground. And he certainly needs to stop with the cute stuff. Hopefully Palmer and Kincaid come back after the bye. Incorporate them better into the game plan. Go to your strengths on short yardage - Cook, Hawes blocking and your best offensive weapon- Allen. And for gods sake…figure out how to best utilize Coleman. Does anyone have any news on when Gabe can come back? Meniscus injuries shouldn’t take more than 6 months? He’s just 26 years old and maybe he can add some sort of spark to this offense…

I'd say his arse is in the frying pan.

If McD took over play calling, then I’d have to revise my previous thoughts. I feel the defense did a much better job pressuring a young QB in the 2nd half. Pressuring while keeping an eye on a couple of stud playmakers. If true. Babich isn’t on the hot seat as much as he’ll jettison himself. I’m sure he’s a good enough coach to coach up the players on McD’s defense and maybe not so much calling the plays. If he had the play calling stripped away, I don’t see him staying here. On his own accord.

I’ll pay for the right act. A few years ago my wife and I paid $300 each for tickets to see Billy Idol at the Fallsview Casino. Was one of the top 5 concerts I’ve ever seen. Worth every penny and I’d pay more to see that concert again. On the flip side, I paid about $125 for tickets to Chicago and feel I got ripped off. I have no problem paying big bucks for a concert if it’s someone I love seeing or someone I’ve never seen and want to. My problem is normal fans have very little chance to see a concert and pay face value. We end up having to pay secondary market prices to resellers who buy up all the tickets. I take it this thread is based on ticket prices for Rush. I certainly would pay the up to $400 to see them again. They are an important part of my younger years and the ticket price is worth it to see them. Especially because I believe they are making a comeback because they want to connect with fans, not just a money grab.

This loss is on Joe Brady. Joe Marino makes the case -
joe Marino reviews all 22- he calls out Joe Brady. Unprepared, and did not make adjustments. Studs and Duds - short and sweet list- Studs- Roseau and Deone Duds- JOE BRADY

What will have transpired to go from where we are today to that cushy 1-seed and playoff bye being locked up in Week 18? This thread is for the dreamers, the ones who want to use their imagination to concoct a scenario. Jokes are also acceptable. This thread is not for debbie downers who say it's impossible. So, what say you?

Why doesn't McDermott call the Defensive plays full time??
Mister Defense replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes, of course that needs to be done. And has likely been done to a degree already. But, just as with dorsey, it was clearly not just the play calling, but the preparation for the game and that specific opponent. The play calling fiasco with both 'coordinators' is just the tip of the iceberg. If the big, obvious things are so poor--for all to see-then just imagine the neglect of the smaller details that make an NFL defense a quality unit. Things fall apart, as they have under Babbich and as they did under dorsey when this happens. A great deal of the detail work that happens during the week and then carries over into the game needs a significant change, as is seems clear that Babbich simply does not know what he is doing across the board, as the problems are comprehensive. And extremely obvious. I don't think it is over stating things to say if McDermott does not make a move, the season will be lost, and there will be a clarion call for his own head--and this time not just from a small percentage of disgruntled fans, but from a majority. He is doing what he and Beane do too often--being soft, sentimental, and letting that override the facts--and their football sense. We also see it with players like Tre White, brought back and made the starter!!, YIKES, and the same for the many retreads the Bills keep bringing back, over and over. Marv Levy and Bill Polian almost never did that, always cut bait when it was needed and then did not have an open door, come on back whenever you want policy. -
Deffering on the road also gives the visiting offense a possession without a loud crowd since a lot of the crowd are not back in their seats and ready to howl on the first possession of the 2nd half. However I think the OPs argument makes sense too. Our defense is the weaker of the 2 units hands down. Keep them off the field as much as possible. One way to do this is to keep them at the start of the game and give them a lead to hold. Normally I like getting the football 1st on the 2nd half but since our defense can't stop anybody I might reconsider. Get our best unit out there first. I like it. We want the ball and we're gonna score.

Did you watch the Lions-Chiefs game? Detroit thought similar to you since they have a banged up secondary. Won the toss, got the ball, and kicked a FG. The Chiefs eventually double-dipped for a two score lead that KC never came close to relinquishing. Deferring is almost always the correct play. (I'm leaving room for exceptions because one should not speak in absolutes, but I'm talking ~98% of the time, deferring is correct). It's not just about giving yourself a chance to double-dip. It's to guarantee that the opponent doesn't double-dip against us (barring a miracle on-side kick after halftime). McDermott has lots of issues. LOTS of issues. But deferring isn't one of them.

I would not hold out hope there. Basically by calling Jones and Palmer "week to week" and the other guys "day to day", he's saying that Palmer (and Jones) have the longer-term injuries. Which is what you expect for Palmer's high ankle sprain. -

I always have a couple of these around for when I misplace my "real" glasses. $6.95 (plus some various minor additional fees bringing the total up to about $15) at Zenni.com McD is cheap.

LOL, I used to say that the hairs I had left were all turning gray in fear that they'd be the next to fall out completely. Also remember asking wifey, hey you wouldn't want me to color my hair, would you? She hesitated which told me all I needed to know - but didn't change anything and we're still together. Good times. Back on topic - ticket fees suck, but parking fees have become more egregious. I get the fees for football games where folks are tailgating and leaving a mess behind, but 1 of 81 baseball games where I'm pulling in and walking in and have to pay $30+? Yuck.

I always like the idea of double dipping and stealing a possession. It's a tiny advantage in a game of inches. The exception for me is if the weather is supposed to be worse in the 2nd half.

Why doesn't McDermott call the Defensive plays full time??
BeastMaster replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall
If this is true, then Babich has to be relieved of his duties That would make it multiple seasons where McDermott had to step in and call plays It's a major indictment on both Babich, and also McDermott because he keeps the guy around -
I saw somewhere that McD took over the Defensive play calling in the 2nd half.....is this true?? The Defense was markedly better in the 2nd half compared to the 1st, and he has done the play calling takeover before when Frazier was DC. This got me to thinking.....why doesn't McD call the Defensive plays full time?? All the Offensive minded Head Coaches call their own Offensive plays(Reid, MacVay, Shanahan, even loser Mike McDaniel), so doesn't it stand to reason that a Defensive minded coach should be calling the Defense?? Maybe he should put the Defense in his own hands for a while to see if this would make a difference.
