What does "Complimentary Football" mean in Bills Coachspeak?
T.E. replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
I honestly think that we could have the '85 Bears defense and McDermott would still prefer that Allen not throw the ball much. -

Former Rolling Stone Editor Says the Dems’ Illegal Orders Stunt Reminds Him of Another Hoax. Former Rolling Stone editor Matt Taibbi is critical of the conservative movement, but he seems to be mostly fending off attacks from his side of the aisle. Despite being a dyed-in-the-wool liberal—that’s not enough for today’s Democratic base which is unspooled. Taibbi was an original Russian collusion skeptic on the Left, which didn’t earn him much praise from his side, but his writings against the censorship complex, which included Twitter, has mostly been directed at Democrats. Look, the man calls balls and strikes; he’s fair. But in today’s liberal circles, that’s one step removed from full-blown neo-Nazism. That said, Taibbi is not having any of the ‘don’t follow Trump’s illegal orders’ nonsense, calling it another shoddy propaganda ploy by the Democrats that reeks of the Russian collusion hoax It's such blatant, bad, overwrought propaganda ... It reminds me again of the beginning of Russiagate when there were all these leaks about encouraging people not to share intelligence with the United States. That made Trump look bad, but it also made the United States look weak and vulnerable and sent the signal that the country was in schism and maybe the government was not stable. Is that what they're trying to project? I mean, is that right? I don't think so. Oh, and trust me—this whole debacle has been a circus. If you can’t answer a simple question, like which illegal order are you referring to without crumbling, it’s a narrative that’s beyond unseriousness. Also, no one cares because voters know it’s total crap. https://townhall.com/tipsheet/mattvespa/2025/11/25/former-rolling-stone-editor-says-the-dems-illegal-orders-stunt-reminds-him-of-another-hoax-n2666870 -

It means when any of Offense, Defense, or special teams suck on a given Sunday, that it is also required that the other 2 squads also suck. They compliment each other. -

So far away Doesn't anybody stay in one place any more? It would be so fine to see your face at my door Doesn't help to know you're just time away Long ago I reached for you and there you stood Holding you again could only do me good How I wish I could But you're so far away

It's McD's code word for the year for "I'm under too much pressure, so I need to cover for my beloved defense's inability to come up big when it matters most. I can't take the chance of Josh getting hurt, so I am going to turn him into a game manager and play ball control and time consuming offense" Just like the code word in previous years was "Trust the Process" ... and then it became "Find a Way" .... and next year if he's still here it will be "Stop being a day late and a dollar short while we continue to learn from this" His whole MO is always about "CYA" so he can continue to keep his job and have an excuse -
Who do we want, who do we need as our next OC/DC?
Sierra Foothills replied to Sierra Foothills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Joe Brady was the bright, shiny object with no track record... 5 NFL seasons. Marcus Brady 8 NFL seasons, Waldron 16 NFL seasons. I would take guys with more experience than a guy still living off his "built by association" with Joe Burrow, Jamar Chase, and Justin Jefferson. JMO. -
Lofton vs Cooks...Fingers Crossed!
vtnatefootball11 replied to YodaMan79's topic in The Stadium Wall
100% agree, nobody is saying the WR talent is good or that the coaching staff is good. It's quite obvious to most Bills fans that Allen has masked a lot of coaching and roster deficiencies for years now. The topic is about is there any possible chance Cooks makes a difference. We are literally picking from a trash heap here at WR post trade deadline. The only silver lining here is that this is a straight up admission by Beane that the WR room is not good enough and that is an absolute indictment on him as GM. Hopefully Pegula is paying attention. Short of a miracle superbowl appearance this year, Beane and McDermott need to go. -

So, first and foremost, it is COMPLEMENTARY, not complimentary. Not trying to be a grammar nazi but they are two very different things and if youre looking to define "complementary football" it helps to have the right one. Compliment Definition: To praise, admire, or express approval. Complement Definition: To complete, enhance, or make something perfect. In Complementary Football, if each unit is executing properly then they should enhance the other units and make their jobs easier. Like the old saying "the best defense is a good offense" and vice versa. That's literally all Complementary Football comes down to. Offense should play in a way that not only achieves their goals but makes the game easier for the defense. Score points, long drives, run the ball. Defense should get the ball back and in good field position. Probably a mix of 2 and 3. With the "something else" being "I need to say something as a head coach so will just use this buzzword catch phrase and the media will get their sound bite" -
I read this thread title just now and it made me smile BIG lol what a great thought I love it AMEN!!!

That's right!!! If not now, when? If not here, where? If not us, who? And the other question I can never remember... how? The talent is not good but it's disheartening that the coaching staff is so poor that they're unable to self-scout and make the corrections necessary to minimize the offensive dysfunction. -

The boldes us exactly how I feel about Joe Brady though. If I am moving on at OC it has to be for a proven upgrade. Waldron and Marcus Brady are not that. I'd take Joe Brady over both. -
mcD is too fragile to hire anyone other than a Yes man as “DC”.

Typically, you’re 100% correct in your thought about all facets of the game working together in a team based synergy. With the bills however, complimentary football is throwing a lower tier mix of has beens, never were’s and James Cook out there every Sunday and praying that Josh Allen can continue to pull out plays that no other human being on this earth can accomplish, consistently enough to stay competitive and possibly even win despite incompetence filling every office at one bills drive. -
COPY. I get it. what I bolded is the bottom line counter point to mine. I love the discussion > Beane has not been perfect. Im trying to be present Now and hope for the best. It is my go to life hack lol GO BILLS

Good on them. As a feral teen, I was enrolled and boarded at St Francis for the first two years of HS. I believe "sent away" was the preferred nomenclature at the time, but I don't recall anyone else there in my circumstances, mostly well-off families with ivy-league hopes for their kids. There were about 30 kids who boarded at the time. I worked as a janitor after school to help pay for tuition. Lived down the hall from the gym. Way back when Dan Neaverth JR and David attended. Stayed out of trouble there mostly, but alas they were not able to make me a good catholic.
