Why Landon Jackson is the next MONSTER in the NFL
Rockinon replied to MJS's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think the Bills are looking at some changes schematically and it began last year. It started with selecting Soloman in the draft, a much smaller quicker pass rusher than what they typically go for. Then there is the fact that the Bills began playing more man coverage throughout the year. And now drafting a CB with off the charts speed that can play man. Also, drafting another 3 tech DT when everyone thought it would be a 1 tech. The Bills still like their scheme, but it seems they are gradually mixing things up and we are going to see more of that this year. There is a lot of conversation about how other defenses have adapted to stop a Josh Allen led offense. With the way Buffalo's defense performed last year, perhaps it has become clear that offenses have found ways to combat a Bill's defense. I'm just speculating, but I have a hunch the new additions aren't just replacements for a specific defensive scheme. It seems to be about scheme diversity. These additions allow the Bills to mix up not only types of coverage but also defensive line rotations with guys that have different skill-sets. The potential is there for the Dline to wreak some havoc by mixing up the scheme and the type of player on that line. Not sure how they intend to do it. It does look like they can be more flexible now though. To me Landon Jackson is just another piece that allows for a diverse rotation. -

A season and a half ago Douglas was playing out of his mind The NFL catches up to everybody it's not like he was trash day one here.. he hit the wall but he still probably wants to get paid like a top two corner on a team -
Yeah, that’s my biggest fear. We’re enjoying it now, even more than I expected, but keeping a close eye out for signs of trouble. The problem is, they are very sneaky little critters and it’s hard to shut it down early.

With the new kick off rule, special teams is more important than ever. Last year Mack Hollins, Lewis, and Ingram were core special teamers. Who is going to replace our top 3 special teams players?

You can give ample reasons why guys aren't signed, but the truth is our starting WR, starting CB and most used ST player are still without a job. This shows me that Beane had significant work to do this offseason and there are still questions, especially at WR, CB and Safety, whether Beane accomplished that goal for this season. -

Rob Riddick launching himself over the defenders into the endzone. I believe it was one or several nationally televised Bills games where Rob scored a TD this way. It was pretty unstoppable. Rob was a TD machine.

Plenty of veterans don't sign until closer to the season because they want the right team Douglas , Cooper are definitely going to find landing spots.. Morris was an undrafted free agent 4 years ago.. the average career is 3 years Smoot has had tons of injuries his whole career so no surprise he's not signed yet The Buffalo Bills have the most draft picks still in the NFL the last 7 years regardless of team -
I was thinking the exact same thing. Follow the old packers model of having a premier backup waiting in the wings on a rookie deal. I think a place like Buffalo owuld have been perfect for Sanders. All the hype could die down, he'd get to learn under an elite offense and just get his reps in. If Allen were to ever be injured for an extended period of time, I'd feel much better about a young player with potential salvaging our season, than a guy like Mitch Trubisky or Mike White. Those guys are ideal for a game or less. At a 5th round pick, you'd be risking very little, and if he showed up in pre-season, you could turn that into a high pick down the road, ala Rob Johnson, Matt Shaub, Mark Brunell, Matt Hasselbeck, etc.

Bills victory at Jets Shea Stadium 1980 I believe. It was a wet and muddy night, and a big win. We had great seats, on Bills side, corner of the endzone. Bills players soaked in the victory and stayed on the field for awhile. Reggie McKenzie and a few other Bills came over to where we were sitting. Lots of Bills fans in our section stayed after the game. It was very fun atmosphere. Reggie was having a blast

I don't know what industry you are in, but in mine, greatness comes from talent and effort. When "diversity" was the factor in putting people in positions they should not have been, it resulted in death.

Agree we could end up with best set in the conference in a couple yrs

Very few of last year’s FAs have signed with new teams. Douglas, Cooper, Morris, Smoot, and others are still unsigned. By the way I know I started this thread, but honestly I’m still very concerned about the quality of both Safety and CB. For CB to be improved, the two rookies, Hairston and Strong will have to make an impact. Hairston needs to be a plug and play starter as White’s metrics were worse than Douglas’ last season. Strong also needs to beat out the washed up Dane Jackson. If White and Jackson play significant minutes next season, don’t expect better results. The same goes for Safety. 3/4 of last year’s disappointing unit return. For this unit to improve, Bishop had to become the starter and show significantly improved play. Otherwise Hamlin and Rapp return as the underwhelming starters. So what about Forrest? He was primarily a special teamer for Wash last season. I hope he adds decent depth, but I had more up for Edwards last season. Hancock is a raw rookie learning a new position. -

By 2027 the starters will be Benford, Hairston, Strong, Hancock and Bishop. Lewis and Ingram will not make the team. Hamlin's $700+K dead cap is nothing, remember MVS was I think $2 million. And remember OJ Howard. On the 53: Benford, Hairston, T Johnson, White, Strong, Jackson, Rapp, Bishop, Forrest, Hancock. If they keep 24 on offense (2 QB, 4 RB/FB, 9 OL, 3 TE, 6 WR) and 3 ST that leaves 26 for D. With the 2 suspensions, they can get away with 10 DL, 10 DB, 6 LBs. The roster challenges start when the suspended players come back. -

Elijah Moore Visiting the Bills today (Update: Signed!)
BADOLBILZ replied to bills742's topic in The Stadium Wall
I doubt there was even that much strategy involved. It's a stretch for Moore to go back to returning punts. The reason the team wasn't hovering around .500 on December 1 like they have been often since 2021 is because they didn't give those games away with turnovers like they so often had. That's pretty much it. And as the second worst YAC guy in the NFL in 2024 he clearly doesn't have the juice/escapability to be a return guy. 😂 I think the music just stopped in free agency and Moore was the only chair available. 92 out of 98 is still top 98, right? If one of the 4 NFL WR's on the roster gets hurt they are down to practice squad trash that has no business playing offense. -
