Big Ben on Mike Tomlin's Future in Pittsburgh

He certainly would find a job very easily if he wanted -

THIS post deserves to go on a plaque as its everything wrong with current toxic fandom that soaked in 20/20 hindsight from a Monday morning quarterback. Id wonder if its actually from a Bills fan but there is definitely a small but vocal contingent of fans who choose to wear goggles that see their team this way. A lot of whats said isnt even wrong, its the context and lens in which its said that makes it gross and out if touch. Im surprised he couldn't find a way to fit former Panthers players in too...

Game week thread - Bengals at Bills (flexed to 1pm ET)
Royale with Cheese replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Cook doesn’t take many big shots. He doesn’t have much wear. Ideally we control the clock, keep Burrow off the field. Get up early and then you can use Davis and Johnson more. If the Bengals are keeping up, got to keep Cook on the field. -
Darius Slay claimed on waivers by Buffalo
Sierra Foothills replied to TD716's topic in The Stadium Wall
Perception around the league is that the Bills are a model franchise. In the NFLPA's annual survey of teams, the Bills are currently the 4th highest ranked franchise as reported by the players. Guys like LeSean McCoy and Shawne Merriman are taking up for the Bills. The only people who think the Bills have a "perception problem" are Beane haters. -
Stroud has a great team around him now and so does Herbert but neither of them can carry a roster like Allen has had to. Mayfield has always been a good QB but played through a torn RTC his final year in Cleveland and was recovering the following year and had a down year but has a team that believes in him now and is thriving. Darnold has ALWAYS made horrible decisions with the ball in college and at every stop in the NFL. He’s got talent but upstairs I don’t think he’ll ever have it but man has he had some nice weapons the last couple years of his career. All this to say NONE of these guys are Josh Allen talent and if Josh was on the chargers, Texans, Bucs or Seahawks those teams would be the overwhelming favorites to win the Super Bowl so NO Josh doesn’t have a good supporting cast. The McBeane regime has consistently prioritized Defense over weapons for Josh in the draft and Beane has more often than not wasted those premium defensive selections with subpar talent evaluations. Look at tonight Flournoy went in the 6th round of a loaded 2024 NFL draft for WRs but Beane went one and done and chose multiple defensive busts instead like DT Dwayne Carter, LB Edefuan Ulofoshio and CB Hardy. He will always be McDs puppet and after his embarrassing explosion at the beginning of the year “this isn’t fantasy football we don’t need WRs I’m the one who drafted Josh Allen rant” I’m done defending him for his ability to fill holes and be a good poker player with trades. He’s missed more often than he’s hit and he’s left the best QB in the league hanging out to dry. Hopefully we win it all this year but we should be where the patriots are coasting to a 1 seed and home field throughout with no chiefs to face along the way but instead we will be clenching are teeth in hopes that McD doesn’t blow a high scoring nailbiter at home against Cincy this Sunday.

Yes they are 8 and 4 but with how inconsistent I see them going 2-3 to finish the season. With losses to the Bengals, Pata and Eagles. At that point for the Bills to make it depends on how other games go. The 2 teams that matter the most for the Bills to make it is the Chargers and the Texans.

Game week thread - Bengals at Bills (flexed to 1pm ET)
Sierra Foothills replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Again, the most encouraging development in the Steelers game were the contributions made by Ray Davis and Ty Johnson. It gives one hope that we won't run James Cook into the ground before the playoffs even begin. -
Couldn’t care less about Ingram. Do think perception around the league matters and im not sure blocking a vet from playing his last year with a team/city he and his wife love, is the greatest karma. On Beane.. I’d be interested to see the age breakdowns of his critics and defenders. From what I see on social media, older folks tend to defend him more and think he’s still doing a good job, whereas younger folks are just about done with him or are close enough to the ledge with him that their belief is he’s done some good but his act has grown stale.

Expect this to be a heavy set and James Cook game. I can see us playing it just like against the Steelers. Allen roughly 20 or so passes and Cook with 30 or so. A lot of play action too. -

Origin: Peanut sticks originated at Freddy's Donuts in Buffalo from 1935 to 1989, according to this YouTube video I was in the Army for 20 years and travelled all over and don't remember seeing them anywhere else but here. Same with Beef on Weck

Darius Slay claimed on waivers by Buffalo
Sierra Foothills replied to TD716's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm not a huge Beane guy but I am a fair guy and there's a ton of bad takes in this topic. With what I believe to be a vocal minority, Beane just can't win and any roster move is simply an opportunity to pile on the hate. The Bills wanted to improve their depth at a position that has proven thin in previous postseasons. The Bills play the Eagles in 3 weeks. The Bills could end up playing the Eagles in the Super Bowl. The Eagles have an exploitable weakness in cornerback Adoree Jackson. I couldn't care less what Slay or Rosenhaus think or want... and nor should Beane. His job is to try to improve this team. JaMarcus Ingram? Really? Would anyone care to guess at what his career earnings are? Should we take up a collection and buy him a sympathy card? -
Completely disagree with you about Beane being considered a very good GM. He’s getting dragged a lot this year and not just by fans like me or hot take artists. Vons injury was brutal. He was a beast before it. But that’s the risk you take when you can’t build a DL and have to pay a mercenary. Benford has been out in consecutive elimination games. Yet we still paid him. Hopefully that doesn’t continue. My only issue with the “it’s the injuries” crowd.. because in fairness.. we’ve been bit in big moments whereas Kansas City, against us, has not…. My only issue is that yall think it’s all bad luck. … I don’t. I think a lot of our injury issues lately are scheme (undersized defensive spine), philosophy (ball control offense that can keep scores close) and personnel (older, past injury history and/or finesse, undersized)

Darius Slay claimed on waivers by Buffalo
Kelly to Allen replied to TD716's topic in The Stadium Wall
Slay said in an interview with acho that he has nothing against buffalo but at this point in his career he didn't want to pack up his family to go somewhere new. He did praise the bills organization. Maybe he'll change his mind in a few days or couple weeks Mccoy said if this is your last year, go ahead and leave everything on the field with buffalo because they're a legitimate contender. -
There also isn’t some loud contingent saying Beane should be fired. Beane is considered a good to very good GM. He has his share of blunders, as has every GM ever. He’s good. I think he’s done enough with the roster over the years to win a SB. Unfortunately, injuries happen and we’ll never know if his plan would’ve worked if one or two key players had been healthy. Take away Vons injury and Benford missing the last 2 KC playoff games and we’d have one imo. Too bad that’s just make believe

Darius Slay claimed on waivers by Buffalo
Mark Long Beach replied to TD716's topic in The Stadium Wall
Many QB's look like Stroud, and Herbert, but the team around them sucks. Both COULD be top tier QBs, but we don't know, because the team around them isn't good enough and that's the GM's fault. Look at Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnald. Both sucked when they were on poorly run teams with poor personnel, and both have now been good on well run teams. Both could have been much better for much longer if they had the support (and players) that Josh has had. -
Watching the kicking machine Aubrey work underscores how mediocre or worse the Bills kicking game has been for several years. This table drives the point home as far as this season. (And I consider Prater an improvement over Bass.) Note: Prater's FG percentage is decent but that's partially because he tries fewer 50+ yard field goals than almost any other kicker.

What's YOUR Honest Playoff Bracket?
Richard Noggin replied to Richard Noggin's topic in The Stadium Wall
There are definitely chances this year of road teams logging wins. Honestly? I think the bolded is what I meant by "honest" for this exercise: just pick em on feel without regard for end result (bracket). -
My mom had us all watch it after Thanksgiving. A bit cringy for me. The love story aspect, all the Bills cameos, and McD. Just bizarro. I was just trying to imagine anyone else out there in the country who enjoyed it who is not from WNY or a Bills fan.

Dak is so hard to gauge. He seems to play pretty well (consistently a top-10 QB every season), but his teams never get it done. This year it's mostly due to a terrible defense. I kind of feel bad for him (but then I think about how much money he makes and I don't feel so bad anymore).

Ja'Marcus Ingram claimed by Houston
NeverOutNick replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Let’s see who is right. The team with the best defense in the league or the team who can’t defend a paper bag in the playoffs…and to top it off I just saw the stats of the Dallas game and that WR Flournoy taken in like the 6th round of the extremely deep 2024 draft for WRs goes off. Beane is an absolute Joke with evaluating talent.
