So I've asked this before but no one answers this - why is it Cook's deal that makes it so they can't sign their OLine? Why isn't it Shakir's deal, or Benford's deal, or Groot's deal? Why is Cook the one that prevents them from making those deals?
-
Love it. Now we’re supposed to worry about another hold out in 2-3 years! You be you, Bills fans!
-
Once Gibbs, Montgomery, and Robinson get re-signed this contract wont even be a blip on the radar.
-
Oh yes, forgot $37 trillion debt...oh, that is all Biden....but this is better than Epstein.
-
It seems like a fair deal on face value for both sides, and Cook gets a bit more guaranteed money to hang his hat on. It's not "team friendly" but it isn't outrageous at all. Signing a player is always a value proposition. Cook has very few snaps on his body compared to similar RBs going into a 2nd year contract, and he's excellent at maximizing his opportunities at the position. I'm surprised anyone is actually upset with the signing. "Meh" I understand, but being mad that we retained a speedster with a unique ability to run between the tackles very efficiently is wild.

Hard Knocks Episode 2: The Thread
Artful Dodger replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
There's no drama at all. And they missed the bit where Josh Allen started talking to his receivers about quantum physics. -
Maybe he’s so good on the field because he saves all his energy for when he has the ball in his hands? LOL I’m glad they got this done. I’m thinking in a year or 2, this will look like a bargain! Go Bills!
-
Dang....I'll find a couple guys in the Home Depot parking lot that will work for cheap.
-
glad hes signed. needed to get done before the season started. if this has any future ramification on paying the OLine, then its a problem. hes a weapon, but not an every down weapon. you cant pay top dollar for those kind of luxuries and pay for whats more important. heres hoping no future problems. nothing against James btw, he deserved a raise of some sort.

McDermott strikes me as one of the conservative, somewhat old fashioned coaches. He is not McVay type. He has progressed the last 8 years but you know he probably holds "no practice no play" type of philosophy to heart. Since the Bills never had a hold-out player in practice when McDermott as a HC, just like putting yourself in his position, I'd certain make my stance clear to Mr. Cook in terms of my standard for on field performance related practice habits. Note this is just one side of the job as HC in terms of managing players. There is another side of the job in terms of working with Beane on determining players like who are core, who are base, etc. which I think they have already worked out in the off-season

I guess I am in the minority here. I enjoyed Episode 2 more than Episode 1. That said, I have one complaint thus far: Where's Keon!?

Par for your course

Honestly with Ed, he beats up young/poor OGs and is always a TC star that gets everyone hyped. He disappears vs good OGs. Elite athlete and only 27, but kind of feels like a guy who will have a few very good seasons (stat wise) sprinkled in rather than a very good career. Crazy to see he's been over 5 sacks in his career twice and double digit TFL twice.

Can anyone remember anything from their pre school?
RichStadiumGuy replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall
To the best of my knowledge "pre-school" didn't exist back in 1956? However... I have a black & white photo that my mother took of me on my first day of kindergarten in 1957 and I remember exactly zero of anything that went down. My earliest recollections are from the 1959 era around the time my father bought his first brand new Buick. Man... those fins were a sight to behold for a little kid! -
They say Bruce used to eat 75 wings a sitting at the Big Tree....Ed has some work to do
-
Seems reasonable Cook is a top 10 RB being paid around 6-8 in terms of RB AAV. He is firmly below the elite RB contracts in CMC and Barkley and more in line with the "very good" RB's comparable to guys like Josh Jacobs.
-
Future reference for the "he doesnt act like he's excited to be here" crowd, THIS is his reaction to the most exciting day of his life. Stop taking it personally.
-
Doesn't the longer deal for the same APY actually make it more likely to keep those guys? Your example is $8 mil guaranteed per year, his actual deal is $7.5 mil per year
-
Funny ‘cause it’s true.

All the comments about "Thank God this is over!" surprise me....it didn't really feel that drama laden at all. Hard Knocks could barely cover it for two minutes there was so little to say. Our front office really does people management at an elite level

And they all lived happily ever after.

Yet, I hope he does. If he can put up what he just earned and get a couple 1200 yard seasons with 270-300 carries that'll be amazing. If his average the next 4 yrs is 1000/250 carries I will be pleased enough. He won't get many TDs, so receiving will be important to improve. If he can do that he can earn the chance to hold out. If he can break 1600 yards in this offense with Allen back there too id be ecstatic so long as it is because he is being the bellweather of ground yards. But, after that many carries he will be dying on the vine. He has 533 carries on the career of 4 yrs. I'll compare him to Chris Johnson who had 609 carries first 2 years. the fatal 2000 carries is a long way off for cook but age will creep up... But with his conservative use we may be able to get some good juice squeezed past 30.
