This year seems different. 1) We have a competitor in the division. 2) Its not the losses. Its the wins. While "a win is a win", the only game where the Bills played a fully solid game was against the 0-7 Jets. 2b) the opponents we beat have a combined record of 3-24 The Bills under McDermott have never won three playoff games in a row. In fact the Bills under McDermott have never won three games consectutive games in a row against teams with winning records. The results through the first six games this year does not suggest any meaningful expectation for this to change. Fan hopes rely on: 1. Josh Allen playing at NFL record setting levels each week. 2. Max Hairston being the first rookie on defense to make a meaningful impact in many years 3. Bernard and Milano somehow returning to form at the linebacker position. 4. things to "click" for Cole Bishop 5. a 31 year old returning from a PED suspension to perform at or near the highest levels of his career 6. Someone on offense resembling the shadow of a WR1 I suppose all of these are possible. But the situation feels a lot like the rest of AFC combined has three aces showing, and we are trying to draw to an inside straight. If the Panthers run all over the Bills defense today and we lose, the goal for the season becomes stumbling into the playoffs and hoping for a miracle.

Forcing Turnovers is the missing ingredient in this DefenseGugny replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall You know what’s missing from this defense? NFL-caliber players and coaches.

If Beane felt any pressure at all, as in ordinary accountability from a reasonably diligent owner, he'd be more likely to pursue a deal if one is actually possible. Unfortunately, he doesn't, and the present roster reflects that complacency.

Look, some guys don’t translate well to the NFL. Coleman has had his issues after Poyer hit him and he is still not eager for contact. Why take on another head case? Bills have enough guys who end up as healthy scratches ; we can’t fix every problem player and in fact look at what happened with cooper. His enthusiasm was waning and he played soft and missed more games after his “ wrist injury”, only to retire this year. Samuels has been another mess. Palmer had so far been disappointing. This guy has looked terrible in Jax and so why bring in another receiver with issues when it’s already a problem issue? Quit falling in love with names; production matters and film doesn’t lie. The Bills can’t even develop their own home grown 5th wr who made it this year, and our OC can’t use the current wr corp in a way to help them get open so why would you think a struggling wr is a good thing to pursue? Allen isn’t playing his best either so it’s not like he is some wr whisperer currently. If they can’t bring in a seasoned vet who has proven he can produce the chances are that wr even reaching the field are slim based on past use of additions mid season by this team. What has Allen brought out of Palmer? Be realistic. Beane is not about to admit he failed to address the wr corp appropriately, just ask Jeremy white! Why expect any midseason addition will play some great role; when was the last time that happened as in their minds based on mcds pressers , the offense and defensive playbooks are very complicated and it takes a while to get up to speed. That’s not how other teams work but it’s been proven that’s this coaching regimes historical pattern. This team needs help, not another problem to solve. Maybe they should prove they can fix Coleman before adding another underperforming head case !

Forcing Turnovers is the missing ingredient in this DefenseT master replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall Well that and the fact that they are missing tackles doesn't help the cause at all either there is definitely enough for the players to fix by their individual play the coaches can only do so much in harping on them about the fundamentals the changes on the field has to be from the players !!

I'm interested in what some of your quotes here were from last season and how much they have changed to this season . If you are one of those that change as the wind blows which I'm sure if we could pull up some reply's we might find that you are ! I understand the frustration, but if you are what seems to be a band wagon guy that is only happy when the team is doing good there are other teams looking for fans and there are some that are doing good this season but I've been in it for the long haul over 40 yrs! Hopefully this is just a bump in the road and they will get back to being the Bills we have seen prior to this rough spot but I'm sticking with it as usual to see what happens, just saying ...

I don’t know about Brady, But Bean and McD need to go.

Joe Brady Nuggets from Penn St InsiderCaptain Hindsight replied to Mat68's topic in The Stadium Wall I’ve seen seasons where the Bills offense is unstoppable in September and then a whimper in November. If the offensive slide continues through November l, then I’ll be concerned. I want them clicking on all cylinders in December and January when it actually matters

Absolutely no way in heck would a 1st round rookie CB ever be a healthy scratch on this putrid defense. I bet you he’s not even fully healthy yet, but McDermott is so desperate for a spark at corner they’ll take the ups & downs of a rookie and hope his elite athleticism can cover some mistakes/ big play ability.
-
	prepare for empty stadiums then.

Forcing Turnovers is the missing ingredient in this Defensetransient replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall Hard to get a turnover when your CB’s aren’t within 5 yds of the receivers and no one touches the RBs on their way to the EZ. Not every QB just throws them to you like Tua.

People get too caught up in positions and having only one of a certain thing. NFL offenses are very complex. To me, a football player is a football player. Keon Coleman to me just seemed like a reached/forced EJ Manuel type of pick. And the whole “looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane” thing. Garbage pick. Maybe Beane can get a conditional 6th for him next offseason if he’s lucky. 😆
-
If they are looking for some folks on the defensive side it's not like the Bills don't have a couple that their contracts are coming up that are decent players and could afford to trade before they just walk in FA after this season AJ is one that comes to mind and they may be able to throw in another under whelming sort just to sweeten the pot a bit like a 2 for 1 type deal .
-
This has to happen. But Bean will go with a 2nd tier Wr and claim the cost for BJT was too high. Then draft a JAG in Rd 1 and 2.
-
And still on a 2 game skid, and looked bad in the wins which,Thank God, we're against losing record teams.
-
	Embarrassing
-
Is this like the pronoun thing? Do we just get to pick one?

Jags listening to trade calls for Brian ThomasThe Firebaugh Kid replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall It’s also no secret that Buffalo was planning to draft him. If Jacksonville is really listening to reasonable trade offers I expect this to be done this week. This guy is exactly what we need I know he’s having a hard year but he can stretch the field and be a dominant player on a rookie deal. I would give them a second rounder. I can’t argue with that. I also think their draft position has really limited their ability to get top talent in the draft.
