Cutler's agent (Bus Cook) in town

where is Skooby when we need him?

Dang, Cutler threw for a record amount of yards (in Denver) last season. I really don't know how high Trent's upside is so I am torn one way or the other. I like Trent and think he has a shot of becoming a great one but Cutler has a swagger about him that might get more done.

It's not hard to throw for 4000+ yards when you throw 40 times a game.

IF Bus Cook was in town - and that's a BIG *IF* -

It could be for Scheffler or perhaps Ken Lucas, another notable free agent he represents.

Shouldn't be for Cutler since permission to discuss a trade hasn't been granted, as mentioned on another thread. WHEN permission is given, You can bet Mr. Cook and Mr. Cutler will make sure the whole world knows, just like they've been informing everybody about Cutler's every discussion, missed phone call and unanswered emails.

That's true, it's been a pretty open book so far and no reason to think that is going to change. Great point!

Does it matter who plays RB for them? They were 12th in rushing yards and 2nd in YPC last year.

I attribute that to Shanahan's offense and his proven ability to call plays and just stick anyone in there. I don't at all think that will just continue with a new offense and philosophy and unproven coach.

True, although I might believe Ruben more than I would the average message board poster.

That is a great post. Whether or not he has just cause, I'm beginning to think Cutler is quite the drama queen ...

Florio never lets a good rumor get away very long.

BUS COOK’S BUFFALO TRIP RAISES EYEBROWS

Posted by Mike Florio on March 16, 2009, 8:31 p.m.

Former Bills offensive lineman Ruben Brown disclosed during his WECK radio show on Monday that agent Bus Cook was in Buffalo.

Apparently, former Bills receiver Eric Moulds, who was represented by Cook during his playing career, mentioned to Brown that Cook was in town.

According to NFLPA records, Cook represents no players currently under contract with the Bills. Thus, speculations is centering on a possible trade of Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler or tight end Tony Scheffler, both of whom are Cook clients.

Our buddy Brad Riter of WECK thinks that Scheffler is the more likely trade target.

But, hey, it’s more fun to ponder the possibility of a new quarterback heading to town.

I don't think that Cutler and TO are a good mix at all. Cutler's pretty good, but he's also a whiny arrogant prick. He's as likely to mouth off to TO as vice versa, and that probably wouldn't end quickly, or well, especially because it would have resulted from some kind of failure that neither of them was going to admit to.

Now, bringing on Scheffler is something I have wanted for several weeks.

Yes it is...you obviously have never played football...

Jon Kitna... yes i have played football, and it doesn't take a genius to know that almost every decent QB in this league could throw for 4000+ yards given 40 attempts a game.

Good one. Kitna never threw 40 passes a game, and yet he threw for over 4000 yards twice. And he is just an average player. They were, of course, 10-22 in those years and a ton of those yards were in mop up time, but hey...

That is not to say that anyone that throws 40 times a game would gain 4000 yards. There can't be many players that have ever thrown 40 times a game. I think there are only three.

Well, sure, if you count 75th in passer rating, 47th in yards, and 69th in touchdowns amongst the all time league leaders.

I can't believe we're getting this worked up over Bus Cook. The same man who for years made GB worry that Favre was retiring. The same guy who got Favre to come back for one final season. I'm sure he's soaking this all in, especially now that his most famous client is (evidently) retired for good.

This is the closest most men ever get to soap operas.

Buffalo Bills

What they give up: Trent Edwards, 2nd round draft pick

Why it makes sense: We already know the Bills are crazy, they signed Terrell Owens. Anyway, Cutler and T.O. could hook up for what, 37 touchdowns? Denver, meanwhile, gets a serviceable starter and a pick to take another college QB who they can groom for the next couple of years. Edwards would surely benefit from Brandon Marshall as much as he would Owens.

Much as I would like to have Cutler, I really don't like the idea of throwing our second rounder as well. We have not been very cavalier in signing free agents to plug the holes in our lines, especially the OL. At a minimum, we need the early picks to have half a chance of doing so through the draft. No matter who the QB, it will be tough for him to throw to Evans or TO if he isn't upright.

Yeah, top 50 all time is amongst the all time leaders, and if didnt miss this season he easily would have finished the year in top 30...

I see. Rather convenient for your argument don't you think? So you would consider Jake Plummer, and Chris Chandler and Jeff George and Craig Morton all time leaders but not Tom Brady and Drew Brees and Jeff Garcia and Bob Greise and Bart Starr. Got it.
