The Bills have a player who went to college at Brown but is out for the year (Hoecht). It is a lot bigger than football. Quote

Let's see how they do with a winning record schedule next year. I think (at least myself) are gun shy about Vrabel's Titans giving us the beat down in years past. Vrabel only went to the playoffs (3) of his (6) years with the Titans. Even though he was handed a 9-7 playoff roster, the Titans made the conference round only once where they lost to the Chiefs. Their best record was 12 and 5 when they lost in the division round. The next year they crashed and burned to a 7 and 10 record. Another dynasty for New England is wishful thinking at this point. I have never seen the 49ers ranked as having an easier schedule than the patriots by any metric and no Denver? lol that is straight up bizarre. Was this preseason or something? there is an absolute chasm between Denver/NE and the rest of the league. The bills schedule is very easy id say and they are over .100 above the pats in SOS. the pats schedule is the easy bills schedule with three playoff/playoff adjacent teams swapped out for 1-2-3 in the draft order Not to mention bills were one of the only teams blessed with the burrow/chase bengals and a full strength ravens team. Bills schedule has been a bit harder than SOS indicates and wayyy harder than the pats. Bills have your typical very easy schedule any given year but pats schedule has been historically easy so far…it does heat up a little down the stretch though Edited 6 hours ago by Generic_Bills_Fan 1 Quote

Pretty clear to see which schedule is significantly softer. It's actually shocking that the Pats loss one of those games. Bills will either go 1-2 or 2-1 in their uncommon games. Then throw in the Bills playing the Bengals with Burrow and the Pats missing Burrow (and Chase) by like 4 days. 2 Quote

There’s gonna end up being essentially 5 uncommon games in a division race likely decided by 1 game. People that say ‘it doesn’t matter the schedules are similar’ are kidding themselves and on top of that, the ‘uncommon’ games are the pats getting 1-2-3 in the draft order and us getting three playoff level teams which is pretty insane to think about haha. like if the pats were getting kind of bad/mediocre teams instead that wouldn’t be as big of a factor but it is three absolutely horrendous teams Edited 6 hours ago by Generic_Bills_Fan 1 Quote

Agreed. Forgot to throw in that the version of the Ravens we played week 1 was probably one of the best teams in the league. Pats are getting a much lesser version. Our only hope is that the Dolphins turn around is legit and sustained and they give them fits week 18. 2 Quote

Strength of schedule numbers are why analytics doesn't really work very well in football. As you point out playing the Bengals with Chase, Higgins & Burrow is a lot different then NE playing them without Chase & Burrow. And that Raven team week one was a completely different beast from the injury ravaged Baltimore team later in the season. 4 hours ago, dcinmuncie said: Chris Simms has been s$$$ting on this team for two years he too, can get f&&&ed My guess is that Simms can't abide how the Bills are building their roster around Allen. Those 3 games difference are somewhat offset by the fact that they play us twice whereas we play them twice. Based on last years records, that's almost a 20 win difference for strength of schedule. 1 1 Quote

Bills have had significant and consistent injuries to deal with. Recently the LT and best DT for the Pats have suffered injuries. They will be playing the first decent team since those injuries. So what I said stands. If the Bills don’t turn the ball over, they will win. 52 minutes ago, CincyBillsFan said: Agree. National media don’t follow the Bills like we do. I think that forces them into the generalization game because it’s easy. The Bills roster while not top 5 is not a disaster. It had weaknesses but it’s a good NFL roster. The OL is a top 8-10 group and today that is where the Bills will win the game. Quote

Teams do move up and down year to year in terms of improvement and lack thereof. It just so happens the Titans, Raiders and Giants if anything got worse year over year. The Pats got better. Bills fell back a bit. Quote

Game plan. And I’ll say even on the player talent side they’re fairly even. In some spots. The Bills players and coaches are just high variance. Sometimes you get really good play. Sometimes you get really bad play. Sometimes you get mediocre play. Whereas this season the pats playersare very consistent with low variance. No one saw the Patriots on the schedule and got excited. With a weak schedule they were able to slide by. Fumble luck and other variables have fallen NE way all year. Deeper dives metrics and trends tell a different story. First time Ne sees a team again. I think Mcdermott has a masterclass day. Quote
