I’m not 100% but pretty sure the Bills can put him on “Did Not Report/Reserve” and he doesn’t take a roster spot…and they don’t have to cut him.

Not sure they’ll be that petty, but I believe it’s an option.

Would we lose our place in the waiver wire hierarchy if he retires?  I’m assuming not.

Slay can tough it,we own his rights so go ahead and retire.  When you decide to un retire,we still own you.

It’s a crappy move, but with the eagles on the schedule this is exactly what I would do until at least after that game.

Why was he inactive and now contemplating retirement?

Got a lot left in the tank huh?

It’s pretty clear he was 100% trying to go to Philly.  He is only ‘contemplating retirement’ because the bills stopped him from clearing waivers

I have no idea how much he has left in the tank.

And neither do you.

I'm just not acting like an ashhole about it....

He can go to Philly, he's almost 35 and his best days are clearly behind him.

So we were worried about the Eagles getting an inactive CB, then we would expose Ingram to waivers.  So if we have a CB injury our next move would be a guy on the practice squad If Ingram got claimed and Slay doesnt report.   Ok got it.  I guess the sky in your world is rose colored.  Oh yeah and I have to hear about McD loving guys who know his system, because its so complicated for a new guy to come in and learn it.

Then again...

He saw McDermott and Beane and said nope, not going to happen

Yeah, that's why he said he was "honored that a first-class organization like the Bills claimed him" <_<

We will just hold his rights, and if he retires, I believe that opens back up the spot

Another question - How long can Slay contemplate retirement and keep the Bills in limbo?

If a team drops a player today that we want, did we already lose our spot in the waiver line?  We need to wait until Slay officially retires?

So many questions.

Did you expect him to say I'm not going to an organization that's not going to win a SB as currently ran? 🤣

A front office with the rep for screwing  LETTING players WALK over YOU isn't likely to be very successful in free agency.

Fixed it for you.

I wouldn't expect him to say anything beyond that he's not reporting.

But he made a point to do so.

Your nonsense about Beane and McDermott is nothing but your own bias and not reflective of the real world and how players views this organization.
