Tyrell Shavers and blocking as a WR

It seems that every time they showed a slo mo replay when James was cooking Shavers was out there blocking his a$$ off.  I was wondering if anyone else noticed it and if you saw the same thing that I saw.  Also, big shoutout to Hawes, too, for great blocking.  Many time those 2 created the hole for James to utilize.

Look I get it, in order to get big gains in the run game your wide receivers have to block, but ever since Mac “blocking is the best/only thing I do as a wide receiver” Hollins was on the team, there is such a weird obsession with wide receiver blocking.

Hollins lead team with TD catches last year. Also converted a big third down in our loss to NE.

This goes back to Lou Saban days when he had 9 guys blocking and one handing off to OJ. Bobbie Chandler was a great crack back blocker, ya digg?

It's not an obsession. It's a spin zone.  There is a difference.

Yeah Paul Costa the tight end was then converted to OT because he was such a great blocker.

I think the reason Allen didn't throw those seemingly easy passes is because he does not trust guys like Cooks (yet), and Coleman (who let him down too many times). There is also a confidence issue with himself based on the last few stretch of games where he didn't play particularly well throwing or decision making. It's funny thing about confidence. If the Bills getting on a row to get thru the next 2 games, I'd believe Allen's confidence will be right back.

Shavers led all receivers in reps. Shows you the relative importance of blocking vs receiving skill in this offense.
