Billsfed1 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago It’s close. If he’s not 1, he’s 2 IMO. Incredible talent, needs to be utilized more in the passing game. Bring that about and were going places this January. Quote
DrDawkinstein Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I love Cook. It's tough to argue he's absolutely #1 with the year Taylor is having, and it seems Taylor is able to run out of tackles a bit more. But agreed, if he's not #1, he's 1B. Yes, please get him into the passing game more! Quote
Dillenger4 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I love Cook - But not sure he is the "best #1" in the NFL. He is in the top 5 for sure and that's pretty sweet. 3 Quote
BillsPride12 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I have him at 3 behind Jayhmir Gibbs and Jonathan Taylor. 4 Quote
Gregg Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago He is in the mix as one of the best, but I don't know if he is the best. You got Robinson in Atlanta, Gibbs in Detroit, Taylor in Indianapolis to name a few who are also up there. But Cook has been the Bills best player on offense and that includes 17. Quote

Enough so that I wouldn't trade one for the other straight up... the upside is limited and the potential downside just based on system fit, way outweigh that upside. Quote
gjv Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago What are you talking about? All RB's are relatively equal, thats why you never pay them. 1 Quote
ngbills Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) Surprised CMC is not getting more mentions. He is having a historic season. Cook is a top 5 or 10. Here are others in that group: Taylor - Obviously CMC - Will have over 1,000 rushing and 1,000 receiving; Possible NFL record for scrimmage yards Bijan R - Also closing in on the 1,000 mark in both rushing and receiving Gibbs - Another dual threat back, lighter workload Henry - still a legit threat Barkley - still a legit threat Achane - under the radar legit dual threat Edited 1 hour ago by ngbills 2 Quote
GASabresIUFan Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Who were the young guys re-signed this past offseason? Rousseau, Benford, Bernard, and Cook. Cook was the one many people here didn’t think should happen. Now it looks like the best deal of the 4 with Benford right there as well. Are there any Cook haters left? Quote

skibum Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago He's probably #3 this year, which is an amazing accomplishment considering who's out there. And he's not far from the best. Quote
Scott7975 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago The blocking should get more credit for Cook than people give it. We have a good line. We use more TE blocking sets, fullback blocking, WR blocking all probably more than any other team. I am not saying Cook isn't great. He is, but he isn't #1 in the league. A lot of his big runs are before contact. I was looking for another stat, that I didn't find yet, but I was surprised by this stat... Cook only ranks 15th at seeing 8+ in the box. I honestly thought it would be closer to the top but it isn't. Quote
JoshAllin Posted 50 minutes ago Posted 50 minutes ago Haven't been up to date with the league but I thought cook and taylor were at the top but someone pointed out cmc and bijan and they are quietly the top guys when u look at total scrimmage yards Quote

thenorthremembers Posted 29 minutes ago Posted 29 minutes ago Taylor is the best back in the league. Then its Gibbs or Cook pick your poison. Quote

Folks just focus on his couple of sure-TD drops from 2-3 years ago instead of all the good catches he has made. But everyone has drops, even the greatest of WRs. He caught the ball a bunch at UGA, and it was one of his features when coming into the pros. He's done it well for us too. This Dallas game from 2023 is the perfect example. He had a banner day, it was a coming out party. This is basically a James Cook highlight reel. He makes a couple of great catches (3:30), and even catches one for a TD (3:50). But late in the game, up big 21-3 thanks to Cook, he drops a sure TD (8:20) and it's all people remember... Also I love posting this because its a fun video for Bills fans. He was never labeled a 3down back and deemed a change of pace runner and pass catcher. He's grown and our offense fits him well. Quote

Thurman Thomas was JK's biggest weapon and was used frequently in the passing game. We have just scratched the surface of Cook's catching capabilities IMO... Quote
