Yeah.  Complete slug.  Sacks aren’t the only stat that matter for DEs.  🤦🏾‍♂️

He has 19 solo tackles and 3 sacks through 11 games. When you have an $80 million contract as a DE, that just doesn't cut it.

The bigger mistake was going for it on that drive. Else we would be in a position to kick a FG and win on the final drive.

McD deserves a lot of heat for that decision and he is not

You are responding to a post with video that literally shows him making two huge impact plays on 3rd down in the 4th qrtr that forced punts and gave the Bills offense a chance to take the lead late in the game.

But since they're not on your stat sheet, that's just not good enough.

But he’s great against the run!  Which they can’t stop

Blame Rousseau for other people's poor play; good plan.

The Bills passing game is a mess.

Josh Allen is a slug.

Greg is going to be a whipping boy because the Bills’ defense hasn’t produced numbers. Beyond that, they don’t win games unless the offense produces. They are mid at best.

I want Gregg to keep beefing up

He's never gonna be a bend a rip defensive end winning with speed and bend around the corner

But he does win with strength and leverage

Calais Campbell is 6'7 and played at the U around 260-280

Then beefed up his frame to like 290 before the draft and finished at like 6'7 310 pound monster who could play along any front

I think Rousseau at 280-290 will only improve his game since it's based on power and he has the frame and that will allow him to play every technique along the line

He’s not a problem, he’s just making the most money on an underperforming defense. We have at least 5 of these types of players. Guys making B+ or better money and not showing up on the stat sheet.

this isn’t one man’s problem (player wise) which means it’s someone else’s (coaching or management)

I’d like to add that since the Oliver injury, Groot has been used all over the defensive line.  Notice how he’s playing 3 tech in a lot of obvious run situations.  Most of the time he isn’t allowed to “pin his ears back” like traditional edge rushers.  But he seems to be making an impact on a lot of plays.  He’s doing his job, IMO. 🤷🏾‍♂️

I don't Think I said it's a problem

I said to maximize his potential he should be beef up..  he will never be a consistent Edge rusher with his traits at his size

But with his frame if he dedicates himself and bulks up she's going to be a lot more of a terror at 6'7 285-290 than 6'7 265

He has the frame to literally put on 20 pounds easily and that will only help his strengths of his game

He's not going to become a worse pass rusher by bulking up... It might only help his ability to go all over the line and then find a mismatch in the game that he can take advantage of

he does what the coach wants, not sure what else to expect. i have not gotten the sense the coaching has felt let down by him at all, although not finding footing at arrowhead last year was huge.

What if we split the difference and agree that Greg is a good player that is a definitely plus add on the DL, but as your BEST and highest paid player on the DL leaves a little to be desired?

He's doing exactly what McDermott wants.

He's had a 1000lb anchor chain attached to him since he got here because that's how McDermott wants his Ends to play it up front.

I tried to explain that same thing to somebody recently and I think they called me a Communist!

Well, your 1000 pound anchor chain reference sounds like something that a communist would say.

I get that but adding 20+ of rip isn’t a reality. Do you want to time travel and have him gain mass at a younger age or do you want him to just add weight now, I.e. be fatter?

I just don't care about contracts and stat sheets and all that bullshlt. If a guy is playing good football, he's playing good football, no matter how much he makes.

If he's blowing up your cap, then yeah, it's an issue worth commenting on.

But Rousseau's cap hit is currently 53rd among NFL DE's; that's near the bottom end of 64 starting NFL DE's.

And people are bitching about it while I sit here and watch him beating the dogsnot out of Tackles and Guards every week.

There you go trying to forcefully skip late-stage capitalism again.

I will admit that this is true. McDermott has a borderline bizarre strategy concerning the pass rush where ends seem to be prohibited from freelancing at all and safeties blitz from 20 yards off the LOS to open up lanes for DTs and all sorts of other weird stuff.

It is uniquely designed to beat the Chiefs.

There's a reason why they talk about frames in football

He has a frame that could literally support a lot more weight .. and professional organizations know how to put it on.. and take it off players.. we literally took 10 or 15 pounds off AJ epenesa ...  and players like Calais Campbell gained 25-30 lb in their career

Not Matt Milano he doesn't have the frame.. he's always hurt because he's already too jacked up for his frame.. Gregg on the other hand has a massive frame that can hold more weight

Calais Campbell was 265 pounds most of his Miami career..  he bulked up for the combine.. and even gained 25 more pounds throughout his career and he has the type of frame Gregg has

These are professional football players with the best dietitians and health experts in the world... He could add weight to his frame it was one thing that was always talked about as a plus to Gregg as a prospect

That he has the ability to put on 20 plus pounds and play any spot along the line
