I’ve got a question about the offensive game plan: who’s actually calling the shots—McDermott or Brady?

I’ve been wondering about this and wanted to hear some opinions. Last week against Tampa, the offense looked creative and explosive, even with backups in key spots. Then last night we went right back to the predictable, run-heavy approach…and we all saw how that ended.

So is Brady actually designing the offensive game plan, or is McDermott too involved and getting in the way? Personally, I think it’s McD. He’s a great coach overall and a good team builder bringing men together, but he needs to stay in his lane. To me, he still feels more like a great defensive coordinator than a true head coach when it comes to the whole team and offensive involvement.  He would be a great Defensive Coordinator somewhere else and great at it when he can focus only on that.

I wish McD would just let Brady do his thing from here on out and stay out of the offense and play Josh ball.  We still may have lost last night but at least they would have been having fun IMO.  Thoughts???

The offense scored just 12 points. I’d say it’s Brady and Bean. The offense has no quick game answers except the WR screen that rarely works. I remember thinking the same last year when KC knocked us out. That’s a combination of player talent and scheme issues.

Beane and its not close. This team is short on talent around Allen .Oh sorry!

The WR position needs to be fixed big time and we will never know what could have been had Beane just got it right one time.

I think McD has done a solid job keeping this defense held together considering who is playing in that side of the ball right now.

Think about all our losses this season. It’s been the offense failing in key situations that have lost us our games. Whether that be turnovers, going three and out in high leverage moments, or simply not scoring when it’s absolutely needed. Yes we don’t have a pass rush right now. But half our d line is out and Bosa is playing with one arm.

I think you have to bring in a new OC this off-season. I think you also need to consider firing Beane. I would retain McD. At this point in Josh’s career, we don’t have the years to waste on a, probably, rookie head coach who needs to get the correct pieces in place.

IDK but Brady designs the offense, route tree, run plays, etc, I do believe 100% McD influences how and when Brady calls plays, not play by play but McD tells him we want more ball control with runs today or we want short ball control passes today etc. This is 100% McDummies baby, offense and defense and it is failing miserably, time for change.

So Houston has the defensive line we’ve been trying to build for years?

Including a guy we let walk because our defensive mastermind head coach couldn't figure out how to use him.

I think it’s Joe Brady calling a game in the manner of how McDermott wants.

McDermott and Daboll didn’t see eye to eye because McDermott wanted a run oriented, ball control offense with the likes of Devin Singletary as the starting RB. Daboll knew the offense should go through Josh Allen. They needed balance but not a compete shift in offensive philosophy

The next hire was Dorsey, who ran the offense the way McDermott wanted, but didn’t have the 21 personnel to do so. Same with Brady. Now they have the 21 personnel, but are lacking anyone (besides Cook) with speed or that can create separation.

On top of that, all the defensive short comings over the years….After you fire/lose 4+ coordinators, who is the common denominator?!

I bloody wish. Useless clapper cant even get his own side of the ball right. And hasn't been able to for years.

33 points against per playoff exit 🤣🤣 Which are usually lower scoring games. That his speciality, his side of the ball ffs! We have a damned defensive head coach who cant come up with a defense

And I know there are a group who want to peddle some ***** about how much they keep us in games like this one and the Falcons one after half time (which is true to be fair!). Same people casually ignoring that he repeatedly lets mash units and QBs like Penix and Mills cruise up and down the field for 20 points in the first half. Mills was missing guys by 5+ yards for the first half - and still got to 20 points!!! Letting their pass rush tee off on us because we are behind. Then claiming success as we shut it down a bit second half, Wake up people.

He is ***** at his job. The sooner everyone can freely admit that, the better.

Mcd has lost the team, I'm so cynical now when I see guys going down with mystery injuries I assume they're just running for the bus and free agency to get off the sinking ship

They threw the ball downfield constantly vs the bucs with an insane level of aggression. I thought they finally " got it "

McDermott then got scared and told Brady to dial it back because of the turnovers and his defense.

They treated the texans with too much respect because the head coach is scared

Ive been an advocate to keep McDermott for the most part. The more these issues go on the harder it is to fight that corner.

I honestly don’t know where we go.

The offense is struggling which might be down to personnel but they can’t seem to do anything consistently aside from Cook making some magic happen.

The defense is a shambles at times though I will say they do make some reasonable adjustments at halftime to remedy what they’re getting beat up on.

Tough position. The more things go on, the more I’m willing for what you suggest. Sadly.

It's whoever decided to do a drop-back hand-off to a stationary Cook (no running start) 5yds behind the LOS on 4th and 1.  That was crunch time.  Our inability to control the D line was well established by then.  Let's assume one of them called the play (B) and the other didn't call it off (McD). So both.
