Waaaay tooooo eaaaarly - AFC playoff picture

It is too early but the Bills sitting at 5th right now.  There are hints of change in the AFC power structure. Included in that is that the Cheats* look like they are becoming the real deal. The Bills do not have a cupcake to improve their standings.

Crazy but if season were over today - Bills path is through Indy - I would actually like that path - indoors at Indy I think Cook runs through them like they were not even there.

Crazy but if season were over today - Bills path is through Indy - I would actually like that path - indoors at Indy I think Cook runs through them like they were not even there.

if that is the AFC playoff bracket, that would be an absolute dream.

The afc east could end up in a really weird spot where the division winner gets a significantly tougher first round matchup than whoever ends up being the wildcard

 

if you swap the jags out in that graphic for Baltimore or kc, would you rather be the bills or the pats?  Really interesting question

I mean the Bills are currently the favorites for the 1 seed. So being a wildcard isn't exactly a dream. But yea if we don't win the division this would be a pretty nice set up.

from a purely competitive perspective, I agree, the 5 seed would be preferable.

 

But man, that would suck if the last game ever at Highmark wasn’t a playoff game.

True - really interesting because I don’t care what number the Chiefs are you- they find another gear in the playoffs.

whoa now, #1 seed is a whole different animal. That week off would be most welcomed to let guys heal up (well, whoever’s left that’s not on season-ending IR by then… 🙄)

agree. A playoff with no KC, Bal, or cincy, and the 1 seed going through a stadium in Indy that will sound like a Harlem globetrotter game.

Big same. The only reason I'd even care about the #1 seed is to deny it from KC/Baltimore and perhaps Denver. I don't think the others matter very much. LA/Jax doesn't even have a fanbase.

Yea I’d go 1 seed still for sure (like it’s something we can choose… 😂)but wildcard game against pit on the road might be better than a home game against kc or Baltimore round 1 should it shake out that way 

 

the 1 seed is such a huge advantage…not only do you get the rest and an auto advance to round 2 but you get a jumpstart gameplanning on the few teams you expect to potentially see round 2

I think a lot of that is more opponent he usually sees on the road than something that would apply to the other teams lol

Indy still has Jags twice; Plus KC

PIT and BAL still play each other twice

Bills over MIA; TB over NE. Next week we take back 1st in the east and never let go.

I could see that with Cook. Unfortunately, that would also mean Taylor gets to run at the Bills D. And that could be a nightmare.

 

If we were on the road wild card weekend in Pittsburgh, I could live with that. 

 

If I were to forecast the AFC playoffs from this I would go:

 

Bills over Steelers 

-I don't fear a team like Pittsburgh. I think we handle them pretty easily.

 

Broncos over Chargers

- Broncos seem to be like last year's Chiefs. They just keep finding a way to win at the end of a game. 

 

Pats over Jags

- Vrabel is familiar with the Jags from his time as Titans HC. And Maye > Duvall Barbie 

 

That would lead to the round 2 matchups of:

 

Bills over Colts

-I think yesterday showed what happens to Indy when they play good teams and don't get overly absurd breaks. 

 

Broncos over Pats

-Pats just aren't quite there yet. Next year it wouldn't shock me if they are in the AFCCG.

 

Buffalo at Denver for the AFC Title game. 

 

That I would take. If we don't win the division this is about as hopeful a matchup as we can hope. No Rat Birds. No Chiefs. We would enter the playoffs with the unquestioned top QB in the tournament.

As mentioned this is very early.  Injuries will also have a say. Hopefully the Bills quit getting snake bitten.

One thing about non season ending injuries is it keeps the guys from getting hurt in the middle of the season leading up to the playoff push 😂. Silver lining
