This method doesn’t work for Jerry. We haven’t been talking about the overdue contract or Jerry and the Cowboys, all while watching the price go up and up as he basks in the attention surrounding his stupidity.

Haha, yeah, I saw a Lions fan comment "Those idiots missed out on a full year's worth of clicks and headlines! -Jerry Jones"

$17M per year.  Hutch is $45M per year.

If we had two Eds, it would still be cheaper and maybe one of them would be healthy each week.

They're basically just a year behind us. They're in the exact same situation as us next year.

Thanks. I do think they have done a better job of building a complete roster than us.

Oh, for sure. Where we've inked big contracts to the likes of Rousseau, Benford, Bernard, Shakir, Spencer Brown, and James Cook... The Lions have:

Aidan Hutchinson: Signed through 2030

Penei Sewell: Signed through 2029

Jameson Williams: Signed through 2029

Kerby Joseph: Signed through 2029

Amon-Ra St. Brown: Signed through 2028

Alim McNeill: Signed through 2028

And their pipeline of upcoming Gibbs, LaPorta, Jack Campbell, Terrion Arnold, Brian Branch is better than who we have coming due.

But I'll also add there are a few years of them picking in the top 10, one year at #2 overall. We've only been in the top 10 once, in 2019, picking 9th. And have been in the late-20s/30s ever since.

           Bills   Lions

2019   9th     8th

2020  22nd  3rd

2021   30th   7th

2022  25th   2nd

2023  25th   12th

They've had access to a completely different class of players than the Bills could ever sniff in the draft.

Thanks, that is some great information.

This is a smart move. Resigning fantastic player to a stacked roster.

comparator the Browns idiotic  breaking bank for Garrett, their only great player on an awful team—instead of getting a haul for him.  His continued presence on that team is meaningless.

Almost identical, except the Bills generally do their contracts on the early side, as opposed to ridiculously late while (in order to?) gaining clicks. And of course Pegula isn’t a ***** for every camera he sees. And Pegula diesn’t to pretend to be the Bills GM. But other than that…

Yeah, I’m not seeing it.

I have not seen that from Pegula. Jerry thinks he IS the FO, and all the other little people revolve around him, because that’s the way he wants it.  Jerry has/had his own radio show for goodness sakes!

Again, I’m not seeing it at all.

Serious question, did you mistake this for the Sabres board? Because yes, he's a bit meddling over there, but when it comes to the Bills he pretty much just signs the checks when asked.

That could be and I wouldn’t have any idea.

The funny thing about Jerry is that he is actually running the team in a somewhat competent manner in terms of being the GM. The Cowboys were known to trade away draft picks for big name players and chase names in the draft. But now they draft fairly well (probably a lower top 10 drafting team in recent years) and they don't over spend in free agency. His issue is that Dak is currently a good QB being paid like a great one and that no good coach wants to deal with him as an owner. The team will probably oscillate between Mediocre and pretty good but not a threat the next few years because they wont' get good coaching and Dak is overpaid.

Jerry manages to talk and talk about players until the price goes up and he’s painted himself into a corner. (I prefer the Bills approach, “Player X has been extended”.)  That’s why he is where he is with Dak, and some others. He loves the spotlight too much for my taste.

But it is all about personal preferences. I think Jerry is more concerned with, and more successful with, making his franchise worth more than he is playoff wins, despite what he says. He just has to be good enough on the field to maintain attention. Talking about the Cowboys is working for him in that regard.

Seems like not too long ago, Nick Bosa set the market at 34 million.  God now some teams with have a hundred million in 2 guys if they have a decent QB.  Throw in a good receiver and you could have 50 percent of your cap in 3 guys, leaving the other 50 percent to pay the other 50 guys on your team.

Where do Lions get all this money. They gave St. Brown a huge deal too.

Meanwhile Bills don't have 2 nickels to rub together in cap space

We have given out some pretty bad contracts.  That deal averages $45 mil a year.  That’s basically the cap hit of Spencer brown and Ed Oliver.

or Knox, Samual, Palmer, and Rapp.
