How good is he now? He’s still injured, is he even near 100%. He’s not a solution. Edited 3 hours ago by PayDaBill$ 1 Quote

No, it's that Daquan Jones is coming back either this week or next week and we still have another Phil Mathis call up. Wherein we have Larry Ogunjobi and literally nothing else behind him at 3T and we've used all 3 of Jordan Phillips call up's. Quote

If you think we're better off with what we're getting out of Tyrell Shavers (one of 3 WR's active every game and has gone without a catch in 5 of 7 games), Curtis Samuel (who's only been active for 3 games and has a total of 3 catches for 35 yards), and Elijah Moore (who's been active for 5 games and has 5 catches for 78 yards) - you're either a.) insanely out of touch or b.) letting your hatred for Gabe Davis and/or retreads blind you. We wouldn't activate Gabe Davis expecting him to be "the solution". We should still go out and trade for a WR. But he'd be an upgrade over what we're getting out of at least half of our WR core. And we need all the help we can get. I used this analogy in another thread - Gabe Davis is definitely not 5 star restaurant dining. He's like getting Burger King. But when you're literally eating spoiled, half eaten food out of a garbage can - you'll take some Burger King. Edited 2 hours ago by BillsFanForever19 Quote

TheBrownBear Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Have there been any updates on Gabe's health? He should be recovered from a meniscus tear at this point (11 months). Would be nice to at least have him as an option. Quote

What absolutes? That Gabe should provide more than guys like Shavers, Moore, and Coleman? Really not much of a stretch. The grand sum total through 7 games for *HALF* of our entire WR core combined is 13 catches for 164 yards and 1 TD. You're insane if you think we're better off with that. We have to try anything available at our disposal to improve the core anywhere. He didn't retear the PCL in Jacksonville, but the Torn Meniscus did require surgery - which he got practically 1 calendar year ago. He's on the upswing and has been doing more in practice. Obviously, you don't activate him until he's ready. 1 Quote

He hasn’t done anything since week 11 2024 other than rehab. You’re the one touting that he’s a better option than what we have currently have on the roster. This dude hasn’t played football, been at full speed or been a part of contact workouts since Nov last year. Give it up! Edited 2 hours ago by PayDaBill$ Quote

Mikie2times Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) I didn't like the idea of bringing Gabe back. But given the state of this WR core is he an upgrade? If he's healthy I don't think any question exists that he is. He has shown more in his career than Coleman has. He's a better vertical threat, better blocker, better sideline toe tapper. It's absolutely pathetic what this team has done at WR for it to come to this, but yes, Gabe Davis is upgrading the WR core and is most likely the best boundary WR on this team. You obviously don't do it until he's ready. But he's on the upswing. With Joe reporting he was seen in a helmet for the first time from what the media is allowed to see and Sal reporting that he expects him to be activated soon. You understand people return from injuries right? It's like you're arguing that since he was hurt a year ago, he'll never ever return and won't ever be an option. He'll be ready to take the field in the near future. Did he kick your dog or something? Like I don't understand dying on the hill of "Gabe Davis shouldn't be our 5th or 6th WR". Sticking with what we're getting out of the bottom half of our WR core bc you didn't like Davis as a starter is biting off your nose to spite your face. Edited 2 hours ago by BillsFanForever19 Quote
Ethan in Cleveland Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Poyer is a coach on the field for Bishop and Hairston. Probably not much of a downgrade from what Rapp was offering. Helps in the locker room. Good move. Phillips still offers some inside pass rush. He's a liability against the run, but so is every DT on the roster right now. Maybe Ogunjobi can be the run stuffer. Walker is learning on the job and makes some splash plays but some other plays where he is blocked out of position. I don't really think it matters. McDermott has switched his philosophy for run defense considerably this year. He is using the 4-3 much more. I think he has given up hope the DTs can be stout in the run game. Same with Taron. He's getting abused taking so many hits. He dabbled in it last year but the LB's were even worse last year. Now with Shaq and hopefully getting Bernard and Milano back they have 4 capable LBs and Buffalo Joe in an emergency. It worked against the Panthers because Dalton was awful. Will have to see if it works against a capable QB. 1 Quote

Very rarely saw it as much in a single game from the whole secondary prior to him being in the lineup. 1 Quote
