hellofellowbillsfans Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago his advanced metrics are poor. he also carried so much dead weight and baggage. the Bills made the right decision moving on. there are sooo many things that go into sacks. remember Jordan Phillips and his 9.5 sack year in 2019 when they were almost always coverage sacks? the point is that sacks are a part of, but not the entire part of, what makes a complete pass rusher. 1 1 1 Quote
RobbRiddick Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Oh well now each new day brings with it just another little snippet like this to make the depression sit that little bit deeper in our stomaches doesn't it? I can also confirm that the average life expectancy of a Bills fan has been calculated at 4.5 years less than that of an average Patriots fan. Also, unconfirmed reports are coming out of Buffalo that claim the new stadium is already showing signs of subsidence - by final game of next season the seats at the top will be at ground level. Finally, my wife just told me she now knows those OnlyFans transactions showing on our bank account have nothing to do with the Buffalo Bills. 5 1 Quote
thenorthremembers Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago His team is 3-5 and the defense he plays on has given up a touchdown more on average than the Bills. No hate towards Von, he would have been great here if not for injuries. That said because of injuries he may be one of the worst free agent pickups in Bills history. Why bother with the gotcha post? MPL Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago You do realize how much money we'd be paying for those 4 sacks if he was still on the team right now, right? Quote

(honestly they might be decent if they just never play UPL in net... like a possible playoff team) ... I will now run and hide 1 Quote
T.E. Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Only one Bill has gotten double-digit sacks during McDermott's tenure here - Leonard Floyd with 10.5 in 2023. They immediately let him walk, of course. 1 Quote

Wasn't intended to be a gotcha post. I just thought it was an interesting stat and wanted to see what other thought. Wasn't sure if scheme had anything to do with sack numbers. 1 Quote

They immediately let him walk, of course. Floyd got off to a hot start in 2023 but he faded down the stretch. In 2024 in San Fran he had a similar season 8.5 sacks with a lot of sacks is a small stretch of games (5.5 sacks in a 4 game stretch, 3 sacks the other 13 games he played). He's not having much success with 1.5 sacks in 7 games thus far with Atlanta in 2025. In 2023 Floyd had 6.5 sacks in the first 6 games of the season. He then had a 2.5 sack game against the hapless Jets. In the other 10 games he played he had just 1.5 sacks. The last 11 games of the season he had 4 sacks most of which was concentrated against a really bad Jets team. Floyd was also going to be 32 going into the 2024 season so I think moving off of him was probably the right thing to do. You can complain about Beane on other moves but moving off a 32 year old Floyd who faded down the stretch is not one of them. Quote

Von was great the first 11 games of 2022, he had 8 sacks in 11 games (including a game he didn't finish the one he got hurt). Made all the more impressive by the fact that he was only playing 55% of the teams defensive snaps (for reference Myles Garrett that year played 75% of his teams defensive snaps). He he stayed healthy he probably would have turned in a All-Pro season in 2022 and still at least been a very good player in 2023. Even in 2024 he wasn't tragic as a situational pass rusher. The Bills in 2025 had to move on they had to eat the dead cap and take the savings they could. The got Bosa a better younger player to fill that stop gap vet and got in Hoecht to also be in the mix past this season while drafting Landon Jackson for longer term considerations. Overall the Bills had to move on. As far as Von's sack totals 4 sacks is solid but are they really him kicking ass or are they coverage sacks? Hard to tell without knowing the context but most Commanders fans seem to think he's OK, kind of like the Bills fans last year, more so he's just a situational pass rusher at this stage of his career. Maine-iac Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Bosa almost had 2 sacks in 3 plays versus the Panthers. Got called for tripping. Add in Bosa's 4 forced fumbles and the fact that he has a pretty friendly contract and Bosa is a pretty good deal. 2 Quote
Bill from NYC Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago 34 minutes ago, NoName said: Von Miller has 4 sacks this year. Bosa and Ed Oliver has 3 sacks a piece. Is it possible our scheme held him back? Many years ago we had the worst offensive line in the NFL. Many fans claimed it was the "scheme." Then they hired Mouse McNally a famed OL coach. The line either stayed the same or got worse. What I learned from this is that talent is even more important than scheme. 1 Quote
falgobofu Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Hurts more to know we are still paying him to get more sacks than all of our defensive players Quote
