They're not at all incompetent. But to be sitting here on deadline day with the least cap space of any team in the NFL is not good roster management. You should have the room for some sort of meaningful move on deadline day. 

 

Like I said, they're going to make a move today. And it's going to be a good one. I just wish we'd go all in during a year where Burrow is hurt, the Ravens are in a huge hole, and the Chiefs are not the same Chiefs.

I'm not excusing the inaction. I'm as frustrated and bummed out as anyone. But "want to" and "can" are two very different things.

 

Not true at all.  There are several players out there that we can bring in with the cap situation the way it is.  Shaheed was one of them.  Olave and BTJ are others.  Phillips was another before he was traded to the Eagles.  There are absolutely some top tier players out there that can be brought in with the cap space we currently have.  Sure, we will have to get creative to re-sign them if that is something we wanted to do, but just getting some quality players in here is not difficult with the cap we have.  And, on top of that, there are still some levers that can be pulled if we want to create more space for a bigger move.  Player salary and cap are 2 different things.  We have to be able to absorb whatever the remaining cap hit is for this season....that's all.  And, on top of any restructures or extensions we could do, you can always ship a player out, depending on that contract structure, to offset the incoming cap hit.  There are ways...

 

This is about Beane and the compensation he is willing to part with.  That's it.  There is cap space if needed to make a move he wants to make.

They've essentially been using Kincaid as their #1 WR, which worked pretty good against KC. 

 

My guess is that Bills FO sees how good the OLine and Run game are playing, see how well the TEs are playing, on the verge of getting PAlmer back...and likely think it's not worth a 2nd rounder (which they can use on a safety or WR). 

 

If anything, I'd imagine they think it's more worth it to bring an an above average hybrid DL

Not sure I agree there. Wilson has arguably done better in a far worst situation. Most non Bills fans I talk to consider Wilson elite. Not sure Diggs was considered or seen as elite before coming to Buffalo. 

Diggs had a competent top 10-15 QB in Cousins throwing to him. I don't think we need to list any of the Jets QBs.

The fact they were even willing to trade him in the division should have been a red flag for the Bills front office. The Patriots knew he would not be a threat to them. And he wasn't.
