Game week thread - Chiefs at Bills

Ways the Bills can win this game:

- Hairston is ready to play and has a good game.
- Defensive Ends put pressure on Mahomes and contain him. Do not let him get out of the pocket, I don't care if we get zero sacks. The pocket needs to collapse into him.
- Running game is working for us.
- No big errors (e.g. turnover in our own redzone, big PR/KR allowed, etc).

That's it, I think we win if we can do those things.

I wont lie, I had a VERY hard time not selling my two tickets...would have paid for all playoff tickets and then some. My wife wanted to but I held strong. 

 

A nice tailgate and then go watch at the bar was very tempting but I can't not be in my seats with my peeps. 

 

Meanwhile, a friend of a friend who lives in KC and has seasons posted before their game last night "4 seats and a parking pass for $200".

Chiefs will be up for this game, as will Buffalo.  Difference is, Reid and Spags have consistently out-coached McD and Brady.  Don't see that changing.  

 

I'd imagine Buffalo will try to put pressure on Mahomes to force turnovers, but if he has time to throw that secondary is in trouble with an underperforming Benford, rookie in Hairston, and diminished Taron Johnson along with that safety play.  They can't cover Rice, Kelce, and Worthy.  

 

The offense will try, as McD wants of Brady, to run it with Cook to avoid turnovers.  If KC loads up to stop that and is even moderately successful, Bills don't have the passing game to adapt and overcome.  And we all know Buffalo doesn't adapt to anyone, going with what they know.  Would be the week though to roll something new out, but I'm not holding my breath.   

 

Game hinges on pressuring Mahomes and establishing the run basically.

I don't think so, I think the AFC West and East will produce 5 playoff teams. The Ravens are too deep in a hole, Bengals are falling apart, Jags are decent but I don't think they will get past 9 wins, the rest of the AFC is not that great. But the loser of this game will likely have to take a wildcard spot.

Probably need these things to happen for the Bills to get a win here. Let’s also not forget their latest issue - penalties. Any infractions will be magnified vs KC as the Chiefs will not have any penalties of consequence called against them.

they are on the road. it won't be like the afc championship game i don't think

I think the Bills defense will be trying to do the strategy that they did in the 2022 regular season game. 4 man rush, and spy Mahomes and rush Mahomes with the spy once he makes his first or second move out of the pocket. If that's how they are going to play it then it is a lot of pressure on the corners and D-line.

Mahomes is killing teams this year with his legs. We need keep in the pocket and get him on the ground with a spy. Otherwise, not worried about the KC running game. I worry about our offense, they'll have McDuffie on Shakir and our outside receivers are a negative mismatch. Need big,big TE and RB days. Josh needs to play a lot better and someone else to step up. Running with Cook alone won't be enough and we better be ready with a plan to handle the blitz.

It's time for the Bils to step it up and show every one what they are made of the Chiefs are back to their old selves and pretty much scored at will Monday night so the D will have to be on their toes and Josh along with James may have to don their capes for this to be a win but I think they've got it in them .

 

One way or the other it's gonna be another good one for the books, it always is !!

Oops, you got a little bit too aggressive and tried to sack him and he wiggled out of the pocket. 20 yard completion to a wide open Juju!

 

Containment is more important than sacks for this guy.

Hopefully the coaches can utilize Hoecht in a different sorta way than Chiefs anticipate.  Really liked his aggression last week.  Also, Bosa needs to have a big game.

More Hoecht, Harriston, Hancock and Thompson on defense. Buffalo moved Kc around last season.  Curious how they answer.  Kincaid, Knox, Johnson and Cook imo will be heavily involved in the passing game.  Gonna be hard fought 4 quarter game.  I think Buffalo is better than most and show it Sunday.
