I’ve always liked Fields. I ranked all of the starting QBs on here prior to this season. I had him at 28. I more liked him from OSU than as a pro (although I didn’t think he would struggle this much this year). He looked functioning the last couple of years.

You had him probably 30 spots too high.

He is the worst passer I have ever seen.

He’s like watching TMobile if TMobile had macular degeneration. He refuses to throw the football.

They should bench both Fields and Taylor and let Brady Cook start. See what he can do. If they lose it doesn't matter as their season is over.

Yea idk if Aaron Glenn is ready to let him loose

I've always liked Fields ever since I saw him on the high school QB1 show some years back. He's a good guy, high character, intelligent and an outstanding athlete. Having said that, I feel like his process and release is extremely slow. I suspect his days as a starter are now over. Good Luck Justin.

If I were the Jets I’d explore the cost to get Kirk Cousins in the building and see if has anything left to breathe hope into the roster for this & next year.

Looking through the Gang Green fan forum, there's a sizeable number of Jets fans who have contended that Fields only opens up his passing once the game is out of reach for the Jets.  If you ask Costanza (and a lot of Jets fans), he's a "stats padder."

Aaron Glenn picked the wrong QB by a mile.

Justin Fields is quite possibly the most horrific passer of the football I have ever seen with this many starts in my entire life. He’s a physical specimen and makes like one great play a game, enough to sucker in the next NFL team to give him a chance.

Matt Eberflus deserves a retroactive coach of the year nod for winning 7 games with this dude under center.

I would rather start Deshone Kizer off the couch next week than Fields.

@Kirby Jackson I know he’s your boy, but he’s a trash can. He is quite literally getting Aaron Glenn fired by like week 7. Give me my flowers!

Literally like 75% of this board was gushing over the prospect Justin field was

And I was getting roasted because I said I did not see him being a long-term NFL starter

And that Lawrence is a much much better prospect, who has had to survive another terrible organization

He will be a Bill next year if Mcdermott is still the HC. It's just what we do.

Grab severe projects that they believe they can make allstars!

3 or 4 weeks too late.

Dont disagree with you but he did look not terrible against Pittsburgh, Miami and Dallas for the Jets.

Cowboys game for sure. But the Pittsburgh game he was competent enough for them to be leading by 2 scores at one point.

He is however a prime example of a QB that is only as successful as the running game. Take that away and you stifle the whole offense.

So is that solely on Fields for opening up the passing game once it’s out of reach or on Engstrand and the coaching staff?

I was debating the other day who was the worst QB destination of all time. I narrowed it down to Chicago and New York (Jets.) Just absolute pitiful lineup. Even their GOATs are mediocre.

Regardless, they should’ve kept in Fields to secure that #1 pick (that they’ll eventually ruin anyway.) They should just concentrate on building a beast running game and defense.

What? No he won’t. McDermott has roasted Fields every time he has played against him. If he signs an ex Jet QB in the offseason it will be Zach Wilson

There's always groups on message boards who will whittle the facts to suit their narratives.  Your point has merit.  Far and away the hate seems to be on Fields, Woody, and Glenn.  I haven't seen Engstrand specifically mentioned.

Not a fan of Fields at all but they knew what  they were getting; a guy who can make plays in the air but has his limitations. Some of the shortcomings have to go to coaching and not entirely the player when they’ve shown flashes through the time given.

Steichen and O’Connell have turned Daniel Jones and Sam Darnold’s careers around. Both were written off not far from how Fields has been. Now, they’re better passers of the ball but are night and day where they were from their respective starts in the league.

At the very least it’s 50/50 coaching/player.

An article on Jetsxfactor.com states,

"A potential New York Jets and Kirk Cousins match is yet again a decently fitting thought, but it’s never going to happen. A guy of Cousins’s prototype does not fit this offseason. It would take an entire offseason to make it fit. Besides, Aaron Glenn picked Justin Fields for a specific reason. He wants his offense to push the rushing evolution (and quarterback-designed rushing evolution) forward as much as possible. That just isn’t Kirk Cousins."

https://jetsxfactor.com/2025/06/21/ny-jets-and-kirk-cousins-no-chance-a-major-roadblock-exists/

I'm not sure if they are ready to give Kirk the ball.. with his contract and the scheme the Jets run I don't see that happening

Their season is done. No point adding anyone to try and win games. They should ride it out and secure as high a draft pick as they can for the chance to turn their franchise around.

See Mitch Trubisky! Very similar in playing styles. Both ex Bears and both kinda suck!
