4th and 2, ty johnsons wide open, allen misses him with a stupid flip pass instead of just throwing the freaking ball.

This never happened.

Allen was flushed from the pocket by a free blitzer who NO ONE TOUCHED.

As you can see in the image below, Ty Johnson was not even looking when Allen was originally running for his life (not to mention the defensive back next to Ty).

Allen extended the play out of necessity, and he had no time to stop, reset his hips and conduct a normal over the shoulder throw.

By the time Ty was in any position to catch a pass, Allen’s  *only* option was the shuffle pass. And if Cook was on the field, I have no doubt that’s a first down, because 1) Ty went too far imo and 2) Ty didn’t come back for the ball at all. Cook catches that.

I've watched this one a couple times now

tbh I think Allen could have flipped his hips and thrown at the very last second (like5-6 frames from this one) but it's not an easy play by any means and you should be able to pick up 2 yards in a way more simple manner

Extremely similar to the last play of the season against the Chiefs in the Conference round.  The defense completely prepared for mesh.  A corner blitzing free forcing Josh to bail out of the pocket early.  The play call doesn't give Josh an outlet and the players on the field don't adjust their route.

Its kinda funny that fans are so used to Allen being an absolute freak of nature that they expect him to flip his hips in a fraction of second while 2 defenders are feet from him and throw an on target pass to a moving Ty Johnson who went too far downfield.

If Allen turns to stops to flip his hips here, he is 100% getting hit and there is a good chance the ball comes out with a fumble. Some of you expect the most ridiculous stuff.

😂😂 trust me I'm well aware of how ridiculous the ask is of Allen in this offense, I feel like that's all I lost about sometimes lol

This is interesting:

Not shocking at all imo.

Brady ran the same 4th down mesh beater over and over and over last season.

He also ran the same QB sneak numerous times when it wasn’t working.

He just… is not good. He’s like the anti- Ben Johnson. Where Ben has endless variety to his plays, Brady has none.

I've watched the offense all-22 and there was not much to be had out there. Only play that stuck out which I think Allen genuinely missed was this one:

I think his eyes need to start left where Atlanta is showing possible pressure and if he does then Shakir is wide open on the rail.

This is the only play I watched back where I thought Allen made a legit pre-snap or post-snap error. There's a couple passes he turns down which you could quibble on. Mostly it's guys blanketed downfield in combination with Atlanta fooling our OL with exotic pressure looks. Quick pressure without quick separation, you do the math. Once Palmer went down we had zero ability to even threaten downfield.

I think pass pro is in his head again

Look at the wheel to cook he tucked and I think took a sack on. It was there, got the LB match and all... he just doesn't trust what he's seeing and feeling rn

Come on Happy, you’re better than this. You know darn well that a QB’s progressions are set before the play even happens. You also know darn well that he never got anywhere near to the point of his progression where he would’ve seen that receiving option - especially with a jailbreak.

maybe your point is that he should’ve changed his progression at the line for some reason?

Joe has a pathetic short yardage playbook.  I’m sick of his “cute” offense.  Two weeks in a row we ran a complicated Jet Sweep with JAGs,both times fumbled.  We can’t scheme WR matchups, too little play action, abandons run.

I saw Tom Brady tear the league up with short white guys. It’s up to our OC to tailor the offense with what he’s got at his disposal. There are still plenty of other strengths that can be taken advantage of. Dual threat QB, top 5 RB, Kincaid, and solid starting line. I’m so tired of the game being relegated to get it to your big, fast number 1 WR.

Remember when Miami took the league by storm with the Wildcat? That was one of my core NFL memories, but I always admired how the OC tailored that Miami offense to their strengths instead of trying to fit a square peg into a round hole like so many seem to do nowadays.

The pre-snap read decides the progression. I think on that play the read should have indicated to him that Atlanta might have pressure coming from his left, the 2nd level is shaded over to that side and creeping up before the snap. That is a classic beat the blitz by throwing right into it but he didn't see it.

Not going to kill Allen over one play. He was getting less and less comfortable as the game went along and the frustration was definitely getting to him. I don't mean that as an excuse, it's just how it looked to me on the tape.

Say McDermott fires or demotes Brady. Who do we have on the staff who can do a better job? Kromer? Tabor? Or anyone outside the organization? Right now,, heading into the bye, is as good a time as any for a change.

I think they can do better than Brady.

The bye week is coming at a good time. Allen needs a reset and Kromer needs a reset with his OL. If there's one coach I trust on this staff to get his unit right, it's him. The offense has at least one game a year where they get killed by exotic blitzes and can never get back in sync. I'm not too worried about them fixing that part. I am very worried about them finding ways to punish defenses who want to play this style. They just have to add a downfield weapon, there are no other possible solutions.

@Einstein another good blitz tell on this play is the two deeper DBs on the left are clearly hanging over the would-be blitzers. That's a tell that they are there to replace the space voided by the blitzers. I'm surprised Allen didn't spot it honestly, he's been very good statistically against the blitz and usually finds the opening. With where his eyes went looks like he wants Ty Johnson on the wheel but doesn't anticipate the edge rusher breaking off his rush to cover him. Credit to Atlanta too, it's a good call. Spencer Brown is left blocking air, they get two free rushers, the wheel is unexpectedly covered by an edge LB.

It appears to me that defenses have figured out that if you play man coverage on the Bills receivers, they can blitz an extra guy, getting pressure on Allen. The Bills WR's cannot win 1-1 matchups, they arent open and Allen is forced to run for his life, take a sack or throw a bad pass. This is an oversimplification, but in general, I think this happened a lot last night. I think I am finally on the WR train lol. Last night was pathetic on offense. (Defense good in second half)

yup

fyi this is the one i was talking about. Allen widens Cook presnap and it's there. it's blocked up well, Coleman doesn't get a perfect rub on the LB but this ball needs to go to Cook
