you should stay for the winter to really get a feel for the town /jk

Remember the 'October Surprise' lake effect snowstorm, October 13, 2006?  You can have crazy autumn weather in WNY. 😁

Bills fans are the best!  It doesn’t matter where you are born- if your parents are Bills fans, the kids almost always are Bills fans, no matter the city or country.

And people always tell me- “I have a friend who is a big Bills fan”.  I always say “every Bills fan is a big fan.  It don’t matter if they are a Grandmother, or little sister, they are huge Bills fans”.

Hi all!

I am 58 years old. I grew up in central Illinois. been in LA for last 38 yrs.  In 1973, as a 5 year old, I watched with my Dad the game that OJ went over 2,000 and I was hooked.

I have been a diehard Bills fan ever since. I've been to about 40 games over the years at many different stadiums but have never actually been to Buffalo itself.

Made plans many times that always got thwarted for one reason or another. With this being that last season at the stadium, I made sure to make it happen this time!

My 19yr old son and I are coming for the Thursday night game this week!  We are sitting in sec 110 and can't wait!

This is my living room for football season. and only a little bit of it.   The Wife only allows it during the season. lol!

I do not... been away from Buffalo since 97. Hoping to move back soon, but I missed this one, and the 7 ft snow in my home town... Hamburg

Good Times indeed

We have a list of places to eat that we have been looking forward to. Probably gonna skip the falls as we won't be there very long. I'll see the falls when we come back in 53 years to see the new stadium. lol

The Falls are only a 20 min ride away.  Get on the 190 and it will take you right there.

I understand being born into this, but willingly choosing it? God bless you man. BTW, wife and I will be in 116.

Oh its even worse than that! My Dad was a longtime Steelers fan and tried to get me on board right before they became a dynasty. I refused and stuck with the Bills.

Man did that decision as a 5 yr old cost me a lot of anguish over the decades!!!

My oldest boy is 19 and die hard Bills fan since he could see. He's coming with me. My younger son chose the Steelers to honor my Dad when he passed.  I couldn't argue with that.

You must experience the local food. And Niagara Falls. And possibly Letchworth State Park.

My wife is still getting over the food last week. I’ve been shopping for vegetables and fruit since we got home!  🤣

I felt the same way when I got home from my recent visit. I told everyone I’d weigh 300 pounds if I still lived in WNY.

When I moved here from California, I was 225 lbs. Currently holding steady at 270.

My wife looked at me in absolute shock bordering on horror when I said I was disappointed that we were in WNY that long and I never got to Ted’s or the Mighty or a single slice of pizza, etc.

Honestly, even I don’t know how I did it looking back.

Our vegetarian DIL was in town less than 24 hours this trip, so that wasn’t an issue. The typical restaurant menu is naturally built for “Buffalo people”. I know, there are options, but not quite what she’s used to or a Mecca for vegetarians. I have a habit of looking now almost anywhere I go just out of curiosity.

Awesome story. Have fun!

Its so funny, I have many friends that I have known for over 30 years that even though they have heard my story over and over, still think I'm from Buffalo.

I've probably worn something Bills related 8 out of every 10 days my whole life.

I hope you will take this in the light and humorous way it is intended, but my wife lined up a pic of me with some rather Buffalo looking people. She said “I just wanted a shot with you and your people.”  :)

There is no telling what I’d weigh if I lived there. It would be like too many ice cream sandwiches….and everything else!!!  It’s funny because whenever you back to somewhere you used to live you always want all the old foods. I have “my places” in a bunch of different towns, but there’s nothing like the Buffalo food. Those places are all “good”, but only WNY has Buffalo food.

P.S. - I lived in Cincinnati, and that chili is not fit to eat. At least until after the bars closed, and even then….🤷‍♂️

Oh, I’m sure there are many great options. I seriously think we even saw a Vegan restaurant. I could joke here, but it really wasn’t time to be open yet. :)

I get that there are places, and I did notice some because I DO look. I’m just talking about the average menu on Main Street in Williamsville or probably most little towns. I’m NOT bashing on it, because if we lived there we’d figure it out. It’s not what we are used to. At one place all 4-5 salads on the menu were built around meat, with not a single vegetarian option for a salad. Think about that. It’s different from where we live, and that’s ok.

This is maybe a more direct and HONEST response. Those places are not any of the places I want to go when I get back to WNY. My more common places I noticed had limited ON MENU items. I’m sure almost anywhere can put something together.
