May Day 10 Posted September 1 Posted September 1 (edited) Just an amazing game all around. Both teams looked really solid, that cj carr is a gamer. Miami got a little jauron-itis in the 4th quarter but survived it. Im not a fan of either team. But man. August 31st football, put that in my veins. Edited September 1 by May Day 10 Quote

When overrated they were losing bowl games by significant margins. I can’t say I’m a fan, but this is a different Notre Dame. They have the talent to compete with the best. A decade ago they were treated like an elite team, but the talent didn’t match up with the elites. Quote

As I’ve mentioned, I think their talent is elite, but I agree about the schedule advantage. They play a ton of mid tier teams this season. It really limits the likelihood of too many hiccups during the season. A conference schedule as mid tier as the ACC would be a greater challenge. Edited September 1 by SirAndrew Quote
May Day 10 Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Note Dame's schedule is laughable. Don't play anyone currently better than #19. Next hardest is #25 Boise State, both at home... then nobody. 7 home games, 4 away games. Hiding from a conference championship. They have patsy rivalry games like navy, Purdue, and Stanford. And even if they lose another game, im sure they will be placed in the tournament anyway Quote
Mikie2times Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Notre Damn spends a ton of NIL money. They ranked 4th in rivals recruiting rankings this year. Last year they had a F+ finish of 4th and knocked off Georgia in route to the title game. Since 2022 only Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, and Michigan have more F+ top 20 wins. Yes, they will probably make the playoffs on a cup cake schedule. But as Carr matures in that process, it would be silly to not think they're also a top 10 team deserving of the playoff. 1 Quote
T&C Posted September 1 Author Posted September 1 The purveyors of preseason rankings had anointed Texas largely because of what in retrospect was an overabundance of hype surrounding Arch Manning. Reality hit at the Horseshoe on Saturday, and now the Buckeyes are in position to jump Penn State and return to No. 1 when The Associated Press' first Top 25 of the regular season drops Tuesday. Look for No. 9 LSU to garner support for No. 1, as well, after its 17-10 victory over No. 4 Clemson. An eight-rung promotion to the top spot would be the second-biggest jump of all time. In 1984, Miami went from No. 10 to No. 1 in the first regular-season poll. Given the Week 1 results, Penn State might even drop a spot or two. A 46-11 win over lowly Nevada doesn't necessarily move the needle upward with voters. Texas fans surely are let down but can take solace in the fact that Manning has a high ceiling and won't be playing Ohio State every week. Alabama fans, on the other hand, are gutted and rightly worried. Kalen DeBoer has lost to four unranked opponents in his first 14 games following a 31-17 defeat at Florida State. His predecessor, Nick Saban, lost to four unranked teams in his 235 games over 17 years..."more in article" https://baynews9.com/fl/tampa/news/2025/09/01/ap-top-25-poll-preview-buckeyes Quote

The defending national champion Buckeyes received 55 of 66 first-place votes to move up two spots after their win over preseason No. 1 Texas. Ohio State is at the top of a regular-season Top 25 for the first time since November 2015. Texas dropped to No... More in article... Quote
