I mean you can cut oganjobi... he would save money against the cap... but that still creates a log jam... Carter... tough to cut a 2nd yr 3rd rd pick but distinct possibility, DaQuan Jones was slipping last year... you save apparently 5.5mm against the cap by cutting him...  I guess we are gonna find out...

Just read it too

I hear your points. But respectfully the one big thing you're missing is Jones is really only their established 1 tech.

If you cut him, you're basically rolling with Dwayne Carter as your starting 1 tech for the first 6 weeks. Oliver, Sanders and walker don't play the 1.

DeWayne Carter would not really be a surprise at this point.  The real question is whether another team liked him in the draft and jumps, or if we can just put him on the practice squad.

Elijah Moore is probably less than a 50/50 shot to make the roster, and I think some people might be surprised.  He's got athletic talent, but it can't seem to translate onto the football field.

Longshot chance one of the vet tackles.  DaQuan Jones or Larry Ogunjobi.  Simply for the money savings.  Then again, this staff does seem to like veteran leadership and that room is incredibly young.

If Tyrell Shavers somehow gets cut, I'm never watching preseason again.  It would be a sign the coaching staff has already made up its mind regardless of what happens in the games.

Well, I think that's mostly true.  Most of us don't go to camp and only watch the preseason games.  The coaches are at camp every single day.  They have a far more complete and holistic view of the player than we do.

It wouldn't surprise me if Shavers got cut just because I have little idea of how he performed in camp and how that performance stacked up against Moore, Samuel, et al.

Surprises would be somebody like VanDemark or Grable. Yes both reserves but many thought they would be relative roster lock. Will be interesting to see if one of them gets cut to make room for Lundt.

I always hope for a Gilliam cut but it never happens. I'd much rather carry an extra roster spot pretty much anywhere( maybe except LB)  than carry a FB. Please no "He can play TE comments". They have 3 credible TEs and use a 6th OL at TE3 already.

He's one of the couple of core STers.  He was a ST ace in college too - he blocked 6 kicks at Toledo.

Hawes likely replaces Morris who was another core teams player.  Ingram and Lewis are on the bubble and it isn't usually advisable to have total turnover there.

Oh, I get it I guess the only thing I was supposing is that his play has further diminished to the point that the savings was worth it...  like I get he is a 1T but if his play has slipped so badly why would we pay for that... in the absence of that happening I agree with you,  I think you see someone else cut... unless they think they can get Phillips to go from 3T to 1T.. I dont know.. but I guess we are gonna find out...

I know. He's a very expensive special teams player. But to his credit he did have one forced fumble on kick off coverage unit last year or the year before. I can't recall.

I think we cut D Jones or trade him to save cap space. that is why they signed Phillips.

Phillips was basically just a veteran break glass in case of emergency practice squad signing.  He should have nothing to do with who they keep at DT.

Is there any reason to cut Ogunjobi now as opposed to after week 6, when he would count against the 53-man roster?

Cap room if we're truly -600k against the cap if we cut Ogunjobi we could free up $3.3 million if I'm not mistaken.

Do we have to get to the 53 first, and then add 2 once the 2 suspensions are effective, or do we get 55 including Hoecht and Ogunjobi?

Of course there is a huge dead-cap hit if he is cut…not sure if that is affected by the timing…if Ogunjobi is cut, he would probably go down as Beane’s worst FA signing ever…

I'm not sure how the new rule plays into IRing players. Suspended players shouldn't count against the 53 man roster as far as I know. So realistically the Bills should have 55 with today's cuts or more if we did IR somebody.

Only one draft pick released so far.

Curious to see if Lundt makes it to the final 53. Anyone know how much he did or didnt play in Tampa game?

I believe he played the entire game at LT. My guess is he makes the roster since Grable and Anderson hasnt practiced in weeks.

People think Landon Jackson is a cut risk?!  There is zero chance that happens.

Yeah who is going to cut in an early 3rd round pick after he's never taken a regular season snap. The Jets just cut the 65th pick of last years draft and that was after a full rookie season and a second off-season/camp/pre-season.
