Broncos coach Sean Payton surrendered his usual play-calling duties late in the first half of Saturday's 27-7 preseason victory over the Cardinals. Payton had QB coach Davis Webb call plays from the 2-minute warning in the first half the rest of the way -- they scored 10 points on those drives. "(Saturday) was a big deal for him,'' quarterback Jarrett Stidham said. " ... Super happy for him. He's an incredible coach, he's going to be an incredible coach for a very long time in this league.''

Here in Denver and it’s Davis Webb time, can confirm. Every channel is raving about him. Granted one of those talking heads is Mark Schlereth who is a rambling banged up 59 year old human man that still goes by the name “Stink”, but hey man, that’s Denver radio. It’s like WGR with more over-produced car ads.

Came into the league one year earlier than Josh and is already a coach, thats pretty wild.  Loved him at Cal.  Coaches kid, so this makes total sense.

Yeah, Webb is likely a future HC in the NFL. Well liked and has a ton of connections from his playing time. Always liked him.

There's a thousand guys like that hanging in the balance who have been serving their dues

If he's in NFL offensive coordinator for 5 to 10 years that's a success

Instantly calling him an NFL head coach is very premature

If you notice I used the word "likely". That's a far cry from "Instantly calling him an NFL Head Coach". Read up on the guy and get some varying opinions. My opinion is far from the only one that thinks he's on a fast track to leading his own team.

Yes his career could go in any of a thousand directions. But a smart guy with an offensive side of the ball mindset and with he connections he has made over the years gives him a solid leg up on many prospective coaches.

Of course but he's going to have to work his way up from quarterback coach to offensive coordinator to head coach

He might get somebody to give him a job as an OC out the gate but  it is a long road to a head coaching job

He's going to have to be a coordinator for three four years at least

Mcvay was considered a prodigy and he was a position coach and coordinator for 9 years before he became a head coach
