I think it’s down to VDM, Lundt, and CVPG…gotta say I’d probably go with the rookie Lundt and hope they can put the other two on the PS.  VDM filled in well at tackle but that’s the only position he plays, and CVPG has missed all of camp.  Thoughts?

I think if SVP is not healthy then he’s going on PUP/IR and the other two make it. If SVP is ready to go, RVD is getting traded to make room for Lundt.

That’s my opinion on the situation. I will say that if SVP is on PUP that leaves them thin on the interior and Grable will probably have to learn to play OG this year

0.0 chance Van Demark or Van Pran Granger make it to the PS.

Lundt would be the one to try and stash given some teams were scared off from even drafting him due to his measurables, but if he puts out more tape like Preseason Week 1, no chance he makes it either.

Joe Buscaglia mentioned the Bills potentially trading for a 1T DT in a recent article.   Speculation, but he typically has a reason for saying stuff.  If Lundt continues to impress, I could see them offering Van Demark up for a pick or player swap, but if they can stash SVPG due to injury and keep them all.. that’s probably ideal.

Dawkins, Brown, McGovern, Torrence & Edwards

Van Demark, Grable, Lundt & Anderson

PUP/IR Van Pran Granger

Lundt isn't making it either. I actually think VPG is the most likely of the 3 to make it to the PS but they will likely now just slow play it with him at this stage and leave him on PUP.

I am sort of here except for Grable being in protocol. He has been in it over a week now. If there is any nervousness over him there is no way they let Vandy out of the building IMO.

Grable getting hurts has confused this and made it more complicated in multiple ways. Him not being out there at second team LT last week allowed Lundt to put a lot of really good stuff on film that seriously reduces the chance of him sneaking through to the PS if they wanted to.

PUP solves a problem, and they can probably get by at IOL for a bit with Anderson as the primary backup at all three IOL positions and Lundt kicking in.  The Grable concussion complicates things a bit.

Don’t they like Grable on the inside as well at Guard?

He keeps being mentioned as a possible David Edwards replacement next year.

Seems like he has impressed at both swing Tackle and Guard, but ever since he won the swing Tackle job, it’s been a setback here and a setback there with injury or concussion.

This all depends on VP-G being healthy, if healthy I see him as C #2. If he goes to IR or stays on PUP it would likely make Anderson the #2 Center and Grable the backup Guard. If that all happens I'd rather have Van Demark as the backup Tackle over a 6th round rookie.

Lundt being a 6th round draft pick would be easiest to stash on the PS.

Tonight my eyes will be drawn to the backup interior OL.

VDM gets traded IMO.

Grable and Lundt back up OT.

VPG goes to IR, and is Connor’s replacement next year.

Those are my thoughts.

I remember when we used to look at teams like the Bills current roster and pray for good starters from their scrap heap. It’s nice to be on this side of the equation.

I remember Rod Streeter being one of our better WR.  And I remember overpaying for tomato cans on OL

Sal C loved him some Rod Streeter..... he was one of his annual "this guy can actually play guys..."

I think they do.  His body type - there's some guys you can just tell are NFL players before they hit it big.  Benford, to me, was a guy I saw in the stadium during his first pre-season game and was thinking who is this guy.  He just looks like an NFL player.  Grable is that guy, too.  He stands out.  He's going to be a stud, so they may kick him in if need be.

(I sat pretty far away for camp, blue and red, and the pre-season game, but from a distance Dorian Strong might fit that bill this year.  He just looked like an NFL type at his position.)

The SVPG situation and #2 center is what I’m most curious about heading into the season. If Anderson has to start the season as #2 center - he probably is not the one coming in as your 6OL in jumbo sets (as we saw previously with Ryan Bates as #2 center) - they like to keep their backup C in bubble wrap it seems.

I think Kendrick Green has some snapping experience, so maybe he finds a way to make the initial 53 to help them feel comfortable. Or they “Will Clapp” the veteran center they just signed last week where he goes on the practice squad but is called up and active as #2 C over some of the young depth tackles they keep for the first few weeks of the season.

I was thinking VDM trade - maybe even to the Bears depending on how they see him in practice -- but the Grable concussion spooks me a bit.  I'd rather hold VDM a little too long and deal with too many tackles on the roster until Van Pran is ready than risk running Chase Lundt out there if Grable isn't ready and there's a week 1 injury.

At the very least Anderson would have to tape his hands differently if he's the backup center.  (Or retape quickly if he had to go in.)  Hawes might fit that "heavy" bill pretty well in those sets.
