I pine for those 8 win seasons... You must, too, brother... I believe I was answering someone regarding our defense being soft which it has been the whole time since he has been here. I was not responding about a stupid pre season game Quote

Maybe it's just me though, as I'm Canadian and have been watching the CFL all summer. So this seemed like the Super Bowl compared to some of those cfl games I agree. For a preseason game thought it was very entertaining. I liked the Bills playcalling on offense. And both Trubisky and White looked reasonably sharp. Shenault made a great hands catch in the endzone on the 2 pt conversion. That guy has some juice. Bills need to find a place for him on the team. If its between him and Codrington go with the bigger man. On defense it looked ugly at times. We just seem to have a big problem evaluating talent especially on the D Line. But look out for #35. That guy was on fire. Find a place for him as well. 1 Quote

Maynard Posted August 12 Posted August 12 Sad thing is the Giants oline is trash. Thought Landon Jackson looked terrible, if I must single someone out on the D. Quote
frostbitmic Posted August 12 Posted August 12 More Jimmy Ciarlo please ... kid hits hard ... for someone I've never heard of he made an impression. Late in the game but still. A captain on Army, he'll be a McD favorite. 1 Quote

It was OC Turk Schonert who got fired before the start of the 2009 season. April was ST coach & assistant head coach and stayed that season. Ironically, KC did the same thing with Chan Gailey that year and after getting fired by KC, ended up rebounding into the Bills HC job in 2010. Edited August 12 by Albany,n.y. 1 1 Quote

In 1978 George Allen got fired after the 1st 2 preseason games by the Rams. Then there's the 1971 John Rauch stuff with the Bills: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Rauch Following a 3–10–1 record in 1970, Rauch avoided being dismissed, and was seemingly prepared to handle the reins for the upcoming year. However, on July 20, 1971, he abruptly resigned following a heated discussion with team owner Ralph C. Wilson Jr.[4][5] The source of the argument stemmed from Rauch's comments about former Bills' players Ron McDole and Paul Maguire. Wilson, without any consultation with Rauch, had traded the 31-year-old McDole to the Washington Redskins. Maguire who had become a problem with excessive lack of decorum on the practice field, was not offered a contract for the 1971 season by Rauch. On Rauch's first television show of the 1971 season prior to opening training camp, when asked about McDole, he stated, in loyalty to Wilson, that they traded McDole "while they could get something in return" due to his age. When asked why he did not offer Maguire a contract, he commented that all Maguire cared about was "how to get out of work and when's the next party." Training camp opened the next day and later in the week Wilson arrived at camp and indicated that he would issue a statement of support for the players (in spite of the fact that Wilson himself had traded McDole). Rauch said "if you do that, you can have my resignation". Wilson accepted. 1 1 Quote
