Cook’s job right now is to be out there practicing with his teammates, helping the team get better.  So, sitting out practice when he’s healthy means he is NOT taking care of his “business”.

Imagine if every player would just sit out of practice whenever they want and call it “business“.  If there’s no penalties or fines allowed for this selfish behavior, they need to correct this in the next collective bargaining agreement.

I don’t know if this is Cook’s intention, but I think this move by Cook reduces the chances of Buffalo offering him a multi year contract.

I agree Cook has every right to make as much money as he can. I just disagree this is the way to do it.  If he believes Buffalo’s offer isn’t enough, use that perceived slight as motivation.  Get a big injury insurance policy. Then go prove your worth on the field this season and sign next spring for as much as you can get, wherever you choose to sign.

I don’t mind that he’s not gonna get injured. That’s hoping he ends the hold-in and plays. Paid or not.

If I remember correctly, his brother Dalvin started the ball rolling on this renegotiated contract stuff right after the Denver playoff game. (Saying hes certainly a $20 mil dollar back)

I'm curious how much James "tactics" and dollar requests are his own beliefs, and how much is influenced by his brother and agent.

i guarantee you the other guys are 100% behind Cook as they should be

Why should they?

Bills have shown year after year they will pay you for your performance,  it's confirmed they tried to make a deal and Cook declined, and I want him to be a Bill but he isn't close to 15 a year. Smart decision by Buffalo imo

I didn’t run the risk of an injury ruining my career as a top-level night manager at  Burger King.

You must’ve been in some high level meetings like Dunkirk Don!

His agent is a joke - actual facts

He'll be the next Leveon Bell

I think the difference is that Cook’s earning potential is between 2 and 3 times his current compensation, and while some have point out that people in other professions could never pull this move, people in James Cook’s profession and position are 1 awkward hit in an extremely violent game away from his earning potential to be none.

Look at Nick Chubb.

Not that anyone cares, but I will definitely be taking the player side in these situations. Get what you can while can. You’re one play away from being done.

Just today a Colts (I think) RB was hip dropped in practice by a teammate and rushed to the hospital. 1 play away from earning nothing in the League.

There is practically a 0% chance Cook sits out regular season games so other than being an annoying news story this changes nothing about our season. The Bills hold all the power here, not saying that's how it should be but that's the reality of the situation. Cook is within his rights to try and force the issue. The Bills will wait it out because they already know the outcome.

because it's in their best interest that their fellow members receive the biggest contracts possible.

now I don't want the Bills to be the team to pay him upwards of $15m/yr either but i def support Cook's attempts to make it happen

really worked out well for Dalvin and his own situation!

these backs that play hardball get burned. Just ask LeVeon Bell— ruined his own career!

And that means what exactly?

Of course they're behind him. They all want more money

it means i was replying to someone who said this was going to cause some hurt feelings in the locker room

LeVeon was crazy to hold out the whole season. He was 2 decades too late for that.

But I have to admit that he was amazing for those few years. His patience behind the line and vision were crazy good. He killed the BILLS. Going to the Jets was a bad idea as well.

I agree with other positions or players

But he just hasn't performed at the level he's asking. I mean he's barely a top 10 RB, Bills gave him an offer, he declined,  finish your CONTRACT and hit free agency,  don't pull this bs

Based on what? It's his place of employment. Would the greater good exist for you if you felt you were drastically underpaid?

We are all underpaid

I understand, to guys underperforming,  it happens in every industry.

And if you over perform, you might get a raise but this man is under contract,  honor that!!

Honor what? They're one sided contracts. A team doesn't have to honor anything.
