aristocrat Posted August 21 Posted August 21 I've figured it out. Take the commanders gm out and get him drunk. Offer Kincaid, Samuel and Daquon straight up for Terry and the cap works. I don't think this would even work in Madden. 1 Quote

Thanks for taking one for the team! 2 Quote

In each and every one of these hold out/in scenarios, it's the team trying to refuse reality. And most of the time, or every time, they end up giving the player what they wanted. Even Cook, who while didnt get his $15M starting number, surely got more than Beane initially offered and a bunch of guaranteed money. 1 Quote

My guess is that it’s nowhere close to $32 million per in reality. Quote

Just pay em. 4 minutes ago, dave mcbride said: My guess is that it’s nowhere close to $32 million per in reality. But that's kinda my point too. There are so many ways to look at these deals, and its so easy to craft them so it gives the agent/player their bragging rights while still being reasonable for the team. I get you have to do the whole song and dance because if the team just jumped to it then the agent asks for even more... but jeez louise. Quote

He got guaranteed 15.3 at signing, with another 13.5 guaranteed through the rest of the contract. According to Spotrac Quote

According to Spotrac I don't really know what the "$30 million in total guarantees" actually means. Since it is a contract extension, I guess it means that his entire contract, including the already existing contract, has/had $30 million in guarantees. But what he got guaranteed at signing of the extension was only $15.28 million. If we cut James Cook right now, the Bills would have $15.6 million in dead money. I don't think he has $30 million in guaranteed money included in the $46 million that was part of the extension. It is just reported in a way to make Cook and his agent look like they got more than they actually did. These are his details: Career Earnings: $13,256,782 Career APY: $4,418,927 Potential Earnings: $55,527,782 Total Guarantees: $18,376,594 So, is the $30 million simply a rough combination of his career earnings up to this point plus his total future guarantees of $18 million (15 from his new extension and 3 from existing)? Then a $9M signing bonus paid immediately. Then the rest of it is in guarantee conversions as he's still on the team... $15.28M guaranteed at sign (signing bonus + 2025 salary + $5M of 2026 salary) Additional $4.41M of 2026 salary fully guarantees 2/9/2026 (injury guaranteed at sign) $6.22M of 2027 salary fully guarantees the 5th league day of 2026 (injury guaranteed at sign) Additional $2.91M of 2027 salary fully guarantees the 5th league day of 2027 (injury guaranteed at sign) $1.18M of 2028 salary injury guaranteed only 2026 Option Bonus: $7.4M 2026-29 Per Game Active Bonus: $20,000 ($340,000) 1 Quote

The Bills paid WR and DE (and CB) and did so wisely, something I think Beane deserves some credit for. You don’t have to cave, you just have to be smart about it in terms and timing. If drama gets involved, that’s probably bad for everyone (except Jerry Jones, because he’ll do anything for attention). 3 Quote

Dont forget Mike Brown. Also messing around with WRs and DEs. Quote

Because he’s cheap and stupid, of course, and he will end up paying more in the long run. Pay them before anyone’s back is up against the wall, the way Beane usually does it. 1 Quote

Um i thought he got a larger portion guaranteed for injury at signing Quote
