Four people, including a New York Police Department officer, were killed in today’s shooting in Midtown Manhattan, a law enforcement official told CNN.

The shooter, tentatively identified as a 27-year-old from Las Vegas, is also dead from what police believe is a self-inflicted injury.

 

The shooting occurred at a 634-foot skyscraper, located at 345 Park Avenue, that includes corporate offices for the National Football League and Blackstone.

Saw a report that the shooter said he had CTE and mentioned the NFL in a note found. 

 

Mayor Eric Adams said on Tuesday morning that the authorities “have reason to believe that he was focused on the N.F.L.,” which has offices at the tower, 345 Park Avenue. A three-page note found on the gunman mentioned the league, as well as claims that the man had suffered from the degenerative brain disease chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or C.T.E., from playing football, the police said. Fwiw, Bloomberg News is reporting the CTE part of the story. However they also mention long time mental illness of the shooter

“We are deeply grateful to the law enforcement officers who responded to this threat quickly and decisively and to Officer Islam, who gave his life to protect others,” Goodell said.

 

The note found on Tamura claimed he had been suffering from CTE — the degenerative brain disease that has been linked to concussions and other repeated head trauma common in contact sports like football — and said his brain should be studied after he died, two people familiar with the matter told The Associated Press.

Wrong on so many levels.

 

OJ also was a wife beater while he was in the NFL.

 

And to say “responsible parents” won’t let their kids play football is one big horse ***** statement.
