Draconator Posted Tuesday at 12:41 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 12:41 PM (edited) Saw a report that the shooter said he had CTE and mentioned the NFL in a note found. Mayor Eric Adams said on Tuesday morning that the authorities “have reason to believe that he was focused on the N.F.L.,” which has offices at the tower, 345 Park Avenue. A three-page note found on the gunman mentioned the league, as well as claims that the man had suffered from the degenerative brain disease chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or C.T.E., from playing football, the police said. It asks that his brain be examined for signs of C.T.E. and accuses the league of concealing the dangers of the game. https://www.nytimes.com/live/2025/07/29/nyregion/nyc-shooting-manhattan?campaign_id=60&emc=edit_na_20250729&instance_id=159456&nl=breaking-news®i_id=124688203&segment_id=202830&user_id=7d4d7d8af86b7cc8b09f3e6e69dc941f Edited Tuesday at 12:47 PM by Draconator 1 Quote

B-Man Posted Tuesday at 03:21 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:21 PM UPDATE: Gunman who killed 4 at NYC building was targeting NFL offices but took wrong elevator, mayor says A gunman who killed four people at a Manhattan office building before killing himself was trying to target the headquarters of the National Football League but took the wrong elevator, Mayor Eric Adams said Tuesday. Investigators believe Shane Tamura, of Las Vegas, was trying to get to the NFL offices after shooting several people Monday in the building’s lobby but accidentally entered the wrong set of elevator banks, Adams said in interviews. Four people, including off-duty New York City Police Officer Didarul Islam, were killed. Police said Tamura had a history of mental illness, and a rambling note found on his body suggested that he had a grievance against the NFL over a claim that he suffered from chronic traumatic encephalopathy, which can only be diagnosed after someone has died. He played high school football in California nearly two decades ago, but he never played in the NFL. NEW YORK (AP) — A gunman who killed four people at a Manhattan office building before killing himself was trying to target the headquarters of the National Football League but took the wrong elevator, Mayor Eric Adams said Tuesday. “He seemed to have blamed the NFL,” the mayor told WPIX-TV. "The NFL headquarters was located in the building, and he mistakenly went up the wrong elevator bank.” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a memo to staff that a league employee was seriously injured in the attack and was hospitalized in stable condition. “We are deeply grateful to the law enforcement officers who responded to this threat quickly and decisively and to Officer Islam, who gave his life to protect others,” Goodell said. The note found on Tamura claimed he had been suffering from CTE — the degenerative brain disease that has been linked to concussions and other repeated head trauma common in contact sports like football — and said his brain should be studied after he died, two people familiar with the matter told The Associated Press. https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/gunman-killed-4-manhattan-office-120358118.html Quote
stuvian Posted Tuesday at 07:30 PM Posted Tuesday at 07:30 PM Football is toast folks. It's just a matter of when. CTE, gambling and greed have all but killed it. If OJ wasn't a psycho during his career, why was he a psycho after? Aaron Donald left in his prime. The writing is on the wall. Responsible parents won't put their kids in the sport. Quote

And to say “responsible parents” won’t let their kids play football is one big horse ***** statement. Edited Thursday at 10:52 PM by Walking Tall 1 Quote
