And today Paramount gave the South Park creators a 5 year, $1.5 B, yes, BILLION deal for the streaming rights to their series.

More evidence that Colbert was/is mot funny.

I’m a bit confused, was Colbert canceled or did CBS/Paramount just decide not to renew his contract that runs through May 2026? Sounds like the latter, which wouldn’t signal any political silencing, just bad TV that needs a change up. Paramount/CBS just also settled a lawsuit with the President for several million dollars for their 60 Minutes follies, so maybe they are just getting tired of losing money.

It sounds like a made up quote in order to sensationalize so I watched the video. It’s what she said.

Nice to see the left behaving soberly. Good lord.

Well, they did start the Blame Canada movement after all.

I think you're right.

Which is why it was curious to make the announcement that the show isn't being renewed now - some 10 months before cancellation. In other words, the announcement was made to suck up to Trump's FCC, which he is using to attack political enemies.

Perhaps it was a preemptive suck up to Trump thinking 10 months ahead of time… also could have been pre planning 10s of millions of dollars allocated to a dying late night TV gig that should go elsewhere… we won’t know until CBS tells us their real motives… I’m leaning towards non transparency

The Entire Anti-Trump Narrative Surrounding Colbert's Ouster Just Got Blown Out of the Water

Amy Curtis

This is a very interesting story, and one that just did fatal damage to the Left's narrative surrounding the ouster of 'Late Show' host Stephen Colbert.

It turns out word of the cancellation came down in June, before the Paramount/CBS settlement was announced and almost a month before Colbert was made aware.

Hollywood's self-described 'insider newsletter' The Ankler has the scoop:

Probably also to tell Colbert go #$%& himself, you can't lose $40m/year AND trash the company that pays you $20m.

In other words, CBS is demonstrating some long overdue wisdom...

Circle of life.  Seems like they were willing to lose a sh-t ton of money with Colbert’s anti-Trump dialogue to strengthen the very cozy and friendly relationship with the Biden/Dem admin.  When things changed, they recognized significant exposure during the 60 Minutes litigation, Colbert and his failing enterprise were expendable.

In other words, they partnered/protected Biden/Harris until it made sense not to.  Seems like an easy call to me.

Cant pay a guy $15 million dollars a year when his show is losing $40 million dollars a year.   Excuse me while I play the world's tiniest violin for the guy with a net worth of $75 million dollars when I watch people making less than $20 dollars an hour get laid off by corporations every few years to ensure no one stays at a job for too long.

Is Colbert in the lots-of-affluenza-types-will-rally-to-spend-to-save  group like NPR?

While it seems they like the message, they don’t seem to rally much around the product he produces.

It is very nice of her to be looking out for my well being but she is so dumb that I basically just do the opposite of her recommendations and I do very well in life
