His play design is good.  The scheme works for the most part.  I think being an OC and being managed himself would do wonders.  Basiclly, he learned 2 jobs on the job at the same time.  I think he has alot potential as an OC.  HC will always be a tough ask.

I'm not sure how much his scheme and design work anymore since they outlawed the motion he was using.

 

Agreed he will latch back on as an OC somewhere (probably back to SF) and have success.

I think it's going to be a epic implosion, the signs are all pointing to it. And let's face it they have the kind of players that will provide the entertainment with what they say to the media

McDaniel is easily in the Top 5 of coaches who likely won't survive the season.

But the lack of authority and discipline by him cost us superbowls.  He allowed players the week of to police themselves and we hear of them showing up hungover for the superbowl.  And who can forget Talley getting into a fight with a bouncer shortly before SB 27 I believe?

You can argue that situationally he’s had some issues, but in terms of overall philosophy the motion concepts of his offense (and Shannahan’s) have been duplicated by just about every NFL team.  I think he has a very good offensive mind and could be a great OC but that he’s a bit overmatched as HC.

Yeah, Flores had an owner and GM who were actively tanking as opposed to going all-in with McDaniel. Yet the records are the same...

Absolutely bananas that they got extra picks for promoting a POC too LOL  look i get it, "technically", but do the optics of that look atrocious L-oh-f'ing-L !!!

 

Is that hiring a POC into a promotion = 3rd round comp picks still (i think HC/GM's only)?  Im not trying to screw up my FO for picks, but at the same time we should only make POC assistant GM.  Think decoy.  Keep your best assistant GM (white/black whoever) under a lower title, pay him extra to be chill about it, and prop up anybody that could fetch us those picks.  I know the 9ers have absolutely cleaned up with how many comp picks they've got under the Rooney-ish Rule.  I wonder if theyre doing something like this

I dont think the Dolphins got any picks. Internal promotions dont count. It's if you lose a POC to a GM/HC spot on another team. That's how the 9ers got picks for McDaniel and others.

 

It's a good rule, along with the Rooney rule. Incentivizes expanding the candidate pool outside of the good ol boy nepotism network and opens doors without requiring giving jobs to lesser candidates.

 

We currently have potential possibilities in Terrance Grey and Malik Boyd.

Super Bowl 27 for sure.  Based on the end result of the game and the NINE turnovers you can definitely make the argument that the team was unfocused on the field and it showed on Sunday.  
 

SB25 - Maybe there was some of that.  I think they were overconfident but it was more about Marv getting out coached.

 

SB26 - I think there were overmatched physically but they also made some really dumb mistakes too - so maybe they were unfocused,

 

SB 28 - I can say partying wasn’t an issue here.  I think this might have been the best SB half Marv had coached.  The team unraveled when Thurman fumbled.  This loss was on the players… who were also a bit outmatched
