You may be correct and if so we're in very dangerous territory.  In this poll 57% of Americans agreed with the idea of authoritarianism.  Right up there with China at 60%  How did we get here?  How can people who cried "freedom" over a vax be ok with authoritarianism?  Totally inconsistent.  But it appears that's where we are and where we are headed.

From the link:

To be sure, 85.5% of American respondents also agreed with a different statement: “Democracy is the best form of government.”

No reason for you not to clutch the pearls though. Maybe even harder.

Where in the poll is that?

Once again - the commies redefining words.

I can’t imagine how we got here Fergy.  You people lie, think you’re the “good guys,”

and when you’re proven wrong (daily thanks to the end of fake news) you have no other recourse but to make ***t up.

The poll favors SECURING THE BORDER and DEPORTING PEOPLE THAT BROKE THE LAW.

But you know who supported actual authoritarianism?

YOU!

Your exaggerations are pathetic. Calling up the NG to prevent a potential catastrophe in an area known for very serious rioting is not "going nuclear," nor is it a military "attack."

Further, you have zero credibility on the subject of what I think of the MAGA group, so give up the idiotic judgement, which you repeatedly place too much self confidence in.

It's just stupid.

Ah, yes.. enforcing a vaccine on the American population with threats of ending careers and limiting freedom of movement, all the while controlling the narrative in media/tech and censoring dissent is, certainly, the same as using federal authority to stop violent people from attacking law enforcement and rioting.

Indistinguishable.

But if your comparison wasn’t idiotic, I would acknowledge that the left has pushed people so far on certain issues that some things we should all be uncomfortable with currently may have majority support.

We have people rioting and looting in LA,  and the local and state police refuse to stop it, what do you feel is the proper response?

What was the party breakdown?

Also from same data - highest of all countries

too it took me posting it twice for you to actually read it.  Keep living in your bubble.

re the 85% that favored democracy, 31% are consistent with that statement.  The o54% are either schizophrenic or lying.  You can't support authoritarianism and democracy simultaneously.  Perhaps they don't understand the words.

And about that "law and order" maga's pretend to respect:

Nice work, lefties, giving Trump the opportunity to escape the Musk fallout and hanging-by-a-thread Big Beautiful Abomination news cycle. You know he loves this.

As for federalizing the National Guard: somehow it still surprises me that these righty "constitutionalists" and states rights advocates abandon all objectivity and become cheerleaders for sending in the troops as soon as their leader calls for it.

of course he loves this.  The news cycle was a reason for this act.  More sinister is the announcement that all protests may be subject to military actions.

re constitutionalists and states rights, maga's support what ever is convenient (moral relativism).  Consistency is not important.

They could just leave peacefully. Why haven’t they done that?

1. They're communists at worst and useful idiots at best.

2. Many are being paid.

4. Libs always throw around the word authoritarianism when laws they don't like such as presenting yourself to US Customs to enter the country legally get enforced.

5. The rioters are magically transformed into the victims.
