There is absolutely nothing better in sports than a cool Sunday morning. Windows open. Sun shining. Fantasy rosters locked in. Couple of parlays made. Knowing I have all the games available to me.

I did the bar thing a few years back and it really gets to be too much by week 7 or 8; too much $$ and socially draining. Plus, having kids changes things.

I had the NFL ST last year. The one feature I absolutely missed from the Directv Sunday Ticket, was the ability to record the game (e.g.. start recording at 1pm kickoff) and if I was busy with something else, not rush to the TV, but sit down to watch around 2pm. Between commercials and halftime crap, I was usually caught up by the time the game ended.

I just saved 45 min - hour of my weekend!

But, with the Youtube Sunday Ticket, I didn't have that function. Their solution was clips for what they determined were highlights to catchup, but not the actual broadcast in which I could FF through ads.

Is the functionality I miss from Directv available with the Youtube subscription and DVR option?

if you have YTTV you can record and than just fast forward however fast forwarding isn't the easiest thing to do.

The sporting event feature I absolutely love on YTTV is the “view big plays to catch up” (or something like that) option.  You see the big plays and then get to live…

All I have to say is Apollo TV .. l'd look into it ... I love it for way more than just sports, but for sports it's unmatched.

Some new developments from YouTube - mainly discounts for new subscribers, military, first responders, health care workers, and teachers.  They also announced month to month pricing.

It is approaching a level I don't want to pay.   I'm probably like a lot of people who do Sunday ticket, a out of towner ex Buffalo person, I want it just to watch the Bills.  In a 17 game season, if the Bills are on national tv 6 games, that basically means I'm paying 375 for 11 Bills games which is over 34 bucks a game.   That's getting pretty steep in my book, almost approaching a ppv fight.  I do fantasy football, but i don't need to see every score in real time so I don't care about redzone, the crawl on the bottom of the tv will pretty much update you in real time on who scored.  Maybe these gambling addicts need a 4 box screen to keep a real time eye on all their bets, but I don't think that's the average fan.

If there are 4 games on Sunday, one on Monday and one on Thursday, there isn't a lot of other premium games I want to watch.

Just my humble opinion, but the greed is getting out of control.  Lastly as a returning subscriber who's not in one of the discount groups, well, that sucks too.

Has anyone done the analysis for what we'd be missing if we signed up for this?

I imagine SNF, MNF, TNF and holiday games aren't included?

I usually get Hulu Live TV with Redzone for $90 a month as it covers SNF, MNF and most Holiday games and I have Prime which gets TNF.

Is Youtube Live TV with Sunday Ticket the better option now that it has redzone? Redzone kind of feels like it makes Sunday Ticket less valuable, but it would be nice to see a specific game if I wanted at any given time. Are there commercials with Sunday Ticket?

When I signed up with the military/etc. Red Zone option last week, it gave me the option to pay $20/12 months or the whole $240.

Yes you can pay any of the full season options in monthly installments.
The month to month option (non full season) is if you only want to purchase one or two months of the season individually.

By my account there are 9 games either night or 4:25 start that would be on national TV, plus may get a couple of 1:00 games shown in your  area, so probably paying for more like 5 games.  I'm in same boat.  I'm in the same boat, besides the Bills games, there was maybe a handful of other games I watched, but if they weren't available and didn't see them, wouldn't be a big difference so not going to likely pay for it to watch so few games. Give me the discount like you're giving new subs or at least $100 off and I'll likely take it.

I still remember sitting in the living room listening to the home games on my little transistor radio. Then, anxiously waiting until the next Saturday afternoon to watch “Buffalo Bills Highlights” on Channel 7 to see the game from the weekend before. It was the only way for me to know what the game even looked like. And…it was free!

Maybe our NFL overlords can introduce  PVLs, personal viewing licenses so you can pay for the right to buy Sunday ticket in the future in order to increase revenue.

I’d prefer if you could buy just a ONE team package. I couldn’t care less who the Seahawks are playing.

It would end up being an absurdly small reduction in price. Something like 359 for a one team and 379 for the entire ticket.

Might sound hokey, but for me, especially being a kid and teen, listening to the radio was quite captivating and it felt a bit magical trying to visualize the game in my mind. I didn’t feel cheated or denied some sort of privilege I should be entitled to and still don’t now. Probably because of growing up with it.

I was in 4th or 5th grade and had strep throat so I couldn’t go to the home preseason game against the Eagles. I remember listening about giant Harold Carmichael tearing us up in a meaningless game.  I remember that more clearly than most of the games from that era I actually attended. I guess it was “different” so it stands out in my mind, and your brain must process it a bit differently.   🤷‍♂️
