Kirby Jackson Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago (edited) The schedule release is the most overhyped & boring NFL “event” of the year. It’s weird too because the draft, 2 weeks earlier, might be the most interesting and exciting. 🤷🏻♂️ We know the opponents and no matter how hard they want you to care about the order, I really don’t. I look and book flights for the road game(s) that I want to go to. Refundable flights and refundable hotels booked in case things change. Otherwise I’m just like whatever. I think it would be super interesting if we didn’t know the crossover opponents in advance. You could do a draw for all non-division crossover games. That would be amazing. Instead of playing the team that finished in the same spot as you in their division, you’d pull those names out to match them up. That would be another NFL event that could generate a ton of revenue. If, at some point between FA and the draft, you had a draw for those opponents it would get huge ratings. My $.02 Edited 20 hours ago by Kirby Jackson 4 1 1 1 Quote

Individual teams and the league in general have to navigate a really complex calendar of dates and events. Not every venue is available on any given weekend. Quote

For me I look to see who the opener is against and if it's the home opener. How many primetime games they get. When the Bills come to the Meadowlands since I live in NJ and it's the only time, I see them in person. 1 Quote

My $.02 they make it boring, too. all this pomp and circumstance leading up to it and magically at 8pm it just appears across the internet, everyone gets it boom! they don't roll it out week by week or make it engaging. they then discuss it for a few hours like that vikings cardinals game could really show off two young qb's and its going to be something good. it's not. 1 Quote

But as someone who has never gone to an away Bills game or hardly travels in general and plans to this year, I finally understand the draw for some. 1 Quote

That’s why I suggested it taking place between FA and the draft. We are talking about 3 games for each team that would be drawn. We already know who the home team will be so you can clear that in advance. I don’t think it’ll mess anything up. The games this year that would be “drawn” would be NFCE opponent at home, AFCW opponent at home and AFCS opponent on the road. 1 Quote

I plan my Fall around the games including going to an away game potentially, what home games I will go to, family parties, and what weekends I may be offer on Monday etc where it makes it an easy next day. Also once the schedule is out you can predict a million times over everything which I enjoy. I don't really get the hoopla on the NFL draft as it is more unknown then the schedule in terms of outcomes, but to each their own. 1 1 Quote

Traveling to a Bills game is a religious experience. There are so many parties and events. If you want to do nothing but be around Bills fans from the time you get there until the time you leave, you can. If you don’t want to see anyone until kickoff, you can do that too. I strongly suggest hitting the party the day before. It’s really crowded but fun to see the fans takeover a city. I wouldn’t plan to stay all night because it’s nearly impossible to eat and you wait forever for drinks but a cool experience nonetheless. 1 1 Quote

Once it became apparent Josh was legit, the draft became way less of an important event to me. But I think it was a conscious decision. Slightly forced. "We've made it now. How many wins can these rookies add to our total? 0.5 wins?" Yet, I still watch it and consume the info/media/mocks. **shrugs** 2 Quote

I’m also a college football guy. 2 years ago the Commanders picked 2. 10 months later they were playing for the NFC Championship. It’s the ultimate game of poker. There are so many moving pieces, and so much drama. The draft is one of my favorite sporting events of the year. Every single team gets better on the same weekend. They all don’t get better to the same degree but every team gets better. 1 Quote

This year I was very interested into seeing how they would go about improving the defense since it is that side of the ball that is mainly responsible for the Bills not getting there in the Allen era so far. 1 Quote
BuffaloBaumer Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago My entire fall is based around Bills home games. If there is something I am invited to out of town, no go if Bills are at home. It's a good thing that pretty much anybody who would ever invite me to anything already knows this. I almost take it as an insult if an invite comes and the Bills are home 😆 1 Quote
