Swap a 3rd for a 5th for Shaheed seems fair. I would also look to trade a 7th for Harrison Phillips if he’s available. Mid range moves that could make a difference

Maybe the Saints can give us DT Godcheaux too for that price

Yeah I'm starting to get nervous. I really thought a move would happen by now. KC coming to town to face this crew? I'll hold out hope but not getting a great feeling about that matchup. I think we'll need to put up 30 and I just don't see it.

Diabolical thought I had earlier - a team trading a WR to us should wait until the last possible week because if we lose the Chiefs game that puts us firmly in a wildcard spot, which gives them a higher draft pick. I don't know if GMs really think that deeply about it but maybe?

The price should in theory go down, though, if a team gets the player for fewer games. Maybe not, though.

punt the 3rd round pick tonight, I don’t care. We need immediate help. Shaheed being one of the fastest players in the league with great big time play ability and a strong upgrade in return game is certainly worth it

It is. She had to be actively looking for Bills talk almost certainly based on hearing something from her brother. IMO anyway…

Well the options are either it's happening, or she's a troll trying to get a rise out of us poor Bills fans. Too bad you can't see people's likes anymore on Twitter.

My only concern about Shaheed is that he seems to be the darling of multiple teams looking at WR. Which means there will probably be a bidding war and our perceived pick is lower than most (although I'd try and argue it may be higher than normal).

I want Shaheed, but could easily see a scenario where it would take a 2nd for us to win the sweepstakes. Which is a steep price for a half year rental.

Hopefully if it takes us a 2nd, we can do a swap of Day 3 Picks or something. And that it involved us getting a small extension done beyond just this season.

Sal mentions Shaheed as his target which IMO usually means he knows the Bills want him

I don't think the Bills tell Shill anything.   He gets to lick boots and if he doesn't like it they will give Maddy his job.   Next to Jakobi,  Shaheed would seem the most likely WR to be available though.

Yeah, I agree. The Bills don't tell anyone in the media anything when it comes to these kind of things. It's just Sal looking at the guys that are presumed to be available and picking one that fits best. And it's pretty clear that the only names that are obvous are Rashid Shaheed, Brandin Cooks, and Jakobi Meyers.

By the way, welcome back.

Would I be excited for a WR trade? Yes for sure. It’s fandom and brings some energy and conversation to the team. You can always hope!

But I’ll go on record saying that whatever mid trade they work out (if any, I never expected them to) it will be a disappointing outcome that won’t move the needle at all. There is just too many other factors at play here and I don’t see a single player that would come in at this point of the year and develop the rapport, trust and attention that the current make-up of the offense would utilize at a level to impact the trajectory of the season. The results of a trade for an average guy would likely end up being JAG.

The grand sum total of HALF of our entire WR core through the first 7 games *combined* is 13 catches for 164 yards and 1 TD. That's insanely bad.

You really can't do much worse than what Tyrell Shavers, Elijah Moore, and Curtis Samuel are bringing this team. That's not even taking Keon Coleman into account.

You're not wrong that there are variables such as learning the route tree and developing rapport with Josh. But if whomever we bring in can stay healthy, I would be shocked if they weren't better than what we're getting from those 3 - even with variables.

If they made a move for Shaheed, what % snap count would you expect him to command? He’s currently getting around 75% of snaps in NO. I don’t see a path for this level of usage in Buffalo.

Of the 3 players listed above, I think you’re most likely to see him replace snaps from Moore. Idt anyone would be coming in taking snaps from Coleman or Palmer (if healthy). Shavers is in as a blocking option and Samuel is a gadgety back-up to Shakir.

I would think, much like these other guys, he’d garner roughly 35- 50% of snaps, much like Amari Cooper last year (yes I know he was banged up). I don’t see how this would command such attention that many are seeming to imply would open up our entire offense and make us unstoppable.

Id be happy to be wrong, but those variables that you referenced are important. Nothing against the player. It’s just a bad mix of priorities in the offense, Allen’s trust and current level of performance, snap usage, and scheme.

She could also be looking at places where he brother could be traded to on Google and seeing the Bills a lot. Who knows but if the Bills could get him it would be a nice add but I wouldn’t look too much into it.

A late 3rd swapped for an early 5th is roughly equal to a mid 4th round pick in terms of draft capital. To get them to throw in Godchaux would probably mean swapping a 3rd for a 7th which I wouldn’t hate either even at the added capital.
